Hmm, Shadow Blade does look A LOT better to set up FS since it leaves the opponent right in her face whereas :h: does that weird missile juggle.
Really? I played some casuals too and didn’t have much problem getting in. To do so, I use :df: Air dash very low on the ground and cancel with j.:s: or j.:h: before her doing the parabola. It creates very confusing high/low mixups because depending on when you cancel the air dash with an attack, it will either come out and hit as an overhead or whiff completely which from there I can go for st.:l: which hits low or another mixup by jumping back and repeating the mixup again. Thanks to the :df: Air Dash being very, very fast, they can’t really punish that approach with dp assist unless they use some kind of Yomi and call them before I even leave the ground.
:ub:/:u: xx :df::l: xx :s:/:h:
The :uf: Air Dash is also very useful for getting in when you’re just a little out of the :df: Air Dash approach’s range. You can use :uf: Air dash to get a little more ground and depending on where you’re doing it on the screen, you can create right/left mixups if the opponent stays ground while you’re doing the dash. What I was doing was Jump, Call Doom Rocks assist to force them to stay grounded and :uf: air dash. That created some ambiguous mixups because the Air dash goes high enough in the air that if your opponent stay grounded, they will be out of the screen so they won’t know where I’ll land if I’m on top of them.
The only time I had trouble getting in was against characters that has insane range on their normals and can’t stop any approach just by pressing buttons at midscreen distance (Dantel Taskmaster, etc.) Other than that, I didn’t have much problems.
Yeah. And it seems like more missiles hits so it makes up for the lost damage on Shadow Blade.
I also don’t think Morrigan has problems getting in. Fly cancelling allows Morrigan to assist herself with Soul Fist to get in. Jump, Soul Fist, Fly, Unfly, dash and go to town.
At least it has been working for me. Sure, moves like Haggar’s pipe are a pain in the ass, but that affects mostly anyone who wants to get in.
Just in case anyone doesn’t know, Morrigan has an option select with Vector Drain with her flight mode. It’s just HCB+H~S. Still don’t know how useful it is, but the whiff animation of vector drain can be immediately canceled into flight. Heavy Vector Drain is also 1 frame startup iirc.
Haven’t had trouble getting in with her really. Once you learn the fireball, fly, fireball, unfly patterns down and the spacing on your dashes, you shouldn’t have a problem getting in or maybe even keeping other characters out. Hell, you can even call an assist during these patterns. Everyone should learn this technique.
Standing C in this game gives you loads of frame advantage. Use that to tick into a grab, or cancel the C into a fly for an instant overhead.
Also Sentinel’s Drone Assists give you a ludicrous amount of cover to begin Morrigan’s cross-up offense.
Sent-A
vector drain startup is 5/3/1 for L/M/H respectively iirc
people here just seems to block her. for me it felt like novice/intermediate players didn’t like blocking her, but seasoned/adept players just kept her flat out. even shenanigans like point blank/close fireball fly drill got blocked. ski got me a lot with that hulk upward assist. one of wesker’s low buttons seems to eat all her air moves close to the ground, i’ll go to the lab later on that.
mostly covered dash ins with fireballs and magneto disruptor assist. would call modok barrier if attack was blocked near the corner or if i dropped a combo. invuln for 2 seconds gives a lot of free pressure. always saved her for later if sent was on the team.
personally i like doing combo into finishing shower dhc magnetic shockwave from midscreen.
near the corner and i have the meter, i’ll go for gravity squeeze.
DI is soooooo good if you’re on the defensive and people want to press buttons against you.
Does Morrigan have good DHC synergy with anyone? I’d kind of like to try her on one of my teams, but that’s a very important quality for me, and her hypers seem really awkward.
Hi guy’s i’m having trouble understanding Morrigan’s dashes and especially the instant air dash and cancelling it into different moves so if someone could point me out to where it’s explained or something it would really help me out.
Dormammu. After her air series knockdown, you can OTG with her DP motion super (I forget what it’s called) and then Chaotic Flame afterwards. It’s 500k+ plus but I don’t know if it’s worth two meters yet, it’s situational. I’d go for it if I wanted to kill an annoying character with mid/low health. If you do it in the corner, Dormammu will end right next to them, so you can start some good pressure. The opposite works, too. Dormammu air series, OTG Purification, Chaotic Flame on the first hit of Purification and then DHC into whatever. Even Finishing Shower works. In the corner, anyway.
Morrigan’s Air Finishing shower can set up for a combo into Chris’s level 3 laser strike hyper.
Anyone have vids of this?
Clakey D used this a lot in WNF.
Check it out
Sweet, thanks!
posted a vid of one in the other thread, but just some samples of fly cancel combos in the corner:
Off of 6M CH
6M > fly > move forward > j.H > j.236L > unfly > j.H > 6H > 236H > fly > j.S (3) > 6H > 236H > fly > j.S (3) > 5M > 5S > j.MMH > j.623M > fly > j.H > j.623M > 214MH 890k dmg
Maxing Fireballs
j.H > 6H > 236H > fly > j.H >** j.236H** > unfly > j.H > 6H > 236H > fly > j.H > j.236H > unfly > 5S > j.MMH > j.623M > fly > j.H > j.623M > 214MH 914k dmg
Maxing J.H’s
j.H > 6H > 236H > fly > j.H > unfly > j.H > 5M > 6H > 236H > fly > j.H > unfly > j.H > 5M > 5S > j.MMH > j.623M > fly > j.H > j.623M > 214MH 881k dmg
Finally got around to testing on every character.
Vector Drain (command grab) > Shadow Servant
works on Sentinel, Tron, MODOK, Amaterasu, Haggar, and Hulk anywhere on screen.
Works on everybody if your back is to the corner. Does 427.7k damage off the H version, except for Haggar which only 4 hits of the super connect for 381.3k damage.
Back Throw > Shadow Servant
Only about 337k damage, but I find it works a lot better than vector drain.
Will someone that is responsible set up a thread for morrigan teams? Thanks
I’ve read a few times about the fireball, fly, fireball, unfly patterns, but i’m still confused.
Correct me if i’m wrong
:qcf: :qcb: :s: :qcf: :h: :qcb: :s: ??
so the first fireball is the fast one (i asume we could use :l: instead for the slow one), and the second is an horizontal air fireball, close to the ground.
Where in the sequence may i press an assist button or what other things i can do with that fly-unfly pattern?
I’ve read something about fly into :s: to create an instant overhead, but right out of the box, with only 5 minutes trying, i can’t do it in practice mode
Maybe we need a thread about the flight-unflight things?
If by “works a lot better” you mean “works on every character,” well yeah. but if you’re fighting someone that vector drain > shadow servant works on, I don’t see a reason not to do it instead. Unless you’re about to lose by time up or something. More damage, range, and they can’t throw break it.
