dunno if its been posted yet, but I’ve gotten some odd hits with her rocket hyper, mainly against large hitbox characters (ie Hulk). Been able to hit them even when they’re behind me lol
Some of my findings on Morrigan MvC3 damage output:
Combo 1:
:f::f: > a.:s: > c.:l: > s:m: > s.:h: xx :f::d::df:+:h: ~ :d::df::f:+:l: = 33 hits 312,300 damage
Combo 2:
:f::f: > a.:s: > c.:l: > s. > s.:h: ~ s. > c. > s.:h: > c.:h: > :s: > :u:/:uf: > a.:l: > a. > a. > a.:h: > :d::db:+:s: > a.:l: > a. > a.:h: xx :f::d::df:+:h: ~ :d::df::f:+:l: = 42 hits 359,000 damage
Way more work for a whole 47,000 damage (about one :l: attack). Gotta love that damage scaling.
One really fun Morrigan XFC combo I found was
:f::f: > a.:s: > c.:l: > s.:h: ~ s.:h: xx :d::df::f:+:m: XFC (:l::h::s:) ~ s. > c. > c.:h: > :s: > :u:/:uf: > a.:l: > a. > a. > a.:h: > :d::db:+:s: > a.:l: > a. > a.:h: xx :d::df::f:+:l: ~ :d::db:+:l:
(I just really like typing with the input icons)
So, is it generally agreed that it’s better to start offense from flight canceled fire balls into unfly -> instant air dashing? Attacking from the ground seems pretty bad, her pokes look pretty short ranged.
here’s a setup for people that do not roll on their wakeup:
command grab -> dash :s: (time it as soon as you recover from the throw animation), the air :s: will whiff, in front of them, and you can immediately do another :l: command grab
command grab -> dash :s:, time it to hit the opp as soon as they get up, it will hit them from the front
command grab -> dash :s: (but dash a little further than before), this time her drill kick will cross-up and hit from the back.
command grab -> dash :s: (hold your dash slightly further than if you were trying to cross-up), this time the air :s: will whiff behind them and you can immediately do a :d: :l: into a BnB.
Rockets start out behind her, and seem to have pretty large hitboxes.
wouldn’t that combo 2 could be simpler by removing the part after the second :s: and the third :s: and replacin the following j.:l: with j. so that it’d look like
:f::f: > a.:s: > c.:l: > s. > s.:h: ~ s. > c. > s.:h: > c.:h: > :s: > :u:/:uf: > a. > a. > a.:h: xx :f::d::df:+:h: ~ :d::df::f:+:l:
primarily because i read that using any :l: at all causes huge scaling on damage and hitstun
i havent tested this, but it seems that it’d be simpler and wouldnt so that much less damage if less at all
I’d just like to thank everyone for posting combos/strategies in this thread, it’s much appreciated! Going to have a good read through and try some stuff out, should help my Day 2 Morrigan. :lol:
She’s so fun to play as, I’m surprised by her I honestly didn’t expect much but damn, she can fuck shit up once she gets going.
Lol, had a “incident” worth of Dandy’s Homo-Genius vids with Morrigan’s rockets today. Hit 4neqs’ Ryu who was standing right behind me (and about to do a hyper I might add).
what is some good fireball pressure stuff to do with astral vision (the clone super). i just watched clakey D on the level up tourney. do fireball pressure a lot and then he dashes in for normal combo stuff. i think he did something like air fireball, cancel to fly, air fireball again, cancel fly, and then rush down or something like that.
You’ve pretty much got it. I’m not sure how many times you can do it in the air, haven’t really practised it. There must be a limitation to how many times you can fireball/fly/un-fly/fireball. Mix up the angles of fireballs to further confuse them and stop them jumping.
I’ve been doing it to a lesser extent than Clakey D was doing, and it’s confusing as fuck for the opponent. Air dash in once a fireball hits on hit or block and j.S. Do it a touch later and you’ll cross them up, which is tricky to deal with. Just be careful with spacing as per usual, I wouldn’t go for that jumping kick if I was too far away because Morrigan’s dash takes a while to travel. They’ll come out of block/hit stun and punish that fine demon ass.
The limit appears to be 3 specials per jump/fly. Therefore the maximum pattern seems to be
Super Jump -> Soul Fist -> Soul Fist -> FLY -> Soul Fist -> Soul Fist -> Unfly -> Continue while falling if possible
Her specials can cancel to fly. Odd, but I like it.
It’s difficult to finish a long combo with 236A+B… I have been choosing to take the KD and activate 22A+B instead. Shadow servents is very… minimal to say the least.
I’ll read through these 30 some pages soon and be on the same track as you guys.
Thanks,
Kyle
The easiest, most damaging combo I’ve found for Morrigan so far is : :l: >:m:> :d::h: > :f::h: > j.:h::s: > > :d::h: > :s: > :h::dp: xx FS. There are plenty of variations of this, but i think this is the most damaging one. The damage output depends on the amount of rockets that hit, which largely depends on spacing. Lowest i got was 450k and highest was about 503k. The combo itself isn’t too difficult either.
^ Yeah, that combo has been mentionned a couple of times already. I think, by now, everyone is doing that combo as a regular bnb.
On another note, trag posted some Morrigan combo that breaks the 500-550k damage cap. Don’t know if they are practical, so I’ll have to test them later, but still cool to see that Morrigan can take half life with a single combo.

Also, watching these videos, I think I’ll just use Shadow Blade when I want to end an air combo with Finishing Shower as it seems more accurate. I’ve been using :h: Shadow Blade all the time, and I’ve had mixed results with it. Sometimes it works well and some other times, it hit the opponent and she goes flying the other side so when I input FS motion, I get Darkness Illusion instead and waste three meters :shake: It doesn’t seem to happen when you use the version.
The standard one I use it just s.L, s.M,s.H, knock up. M, M then H.shadow blade into ROCKETS!!! = 355,000 ish damage
Inputs for the trag’s combos posted above:
Chensor Special! - Instant :df: Dash xx j.:h: (land) :d::h: xx Shadow Blade xx :qcb::s: j.:h: j.:s: (land) :d:.:h: :s: ~ SJC ~ j. j. j.:h: Shadow Blade into Finishing Shower - 513k damage
**Shadow Damage! **- Instant :df: Dash xx j.:h: (land) :d: :d::h: :f:::h: ~ JC ~ :h: Shadow Blade xx :qcb::s: j.:h: j.:s: (land) :d: :d::h: :s: ~ SJC ~ j. j. j.:h: Shadow Blade xx :qcb::s: j. j.:h: Shadow Blade into Finishing Shower - 588k damage
Blade Loop Illusion! - Instant :df: Dash xx j.:h: (land) :d::h: xx Shadow Blade xx :qcb::s: j.:h: j.:s: (land) :d:.:h: xx Shadow Blade xx :qcb::s: j.:h: j.:s: (land) :d:.:h: xx Shadow Blade into Darkness Illusion - 763k damage
I’m thinking of making a team with Morrigan and Chris. Any ideas for a third member?
corner
j.H > 5M > 6H > H Soul Fist > fly > j.S (3) > 6H > H Soul Fist > fly > j.S (3) > 5M > 5S > jMMH > M Shadow Blade > fly > j.H > M Shadow Blade > Finishing Shower
~550k dmg
with lvl 2 or 3 factor its possible to get 3 reps of
6H Soul Fist j.S, but the j.S only hits twice in this scenario
sent/mags/storm/taskmaster
whichever dhcs you prefer
played a lot of casuals over the past two days.
really difficult to get in with her, especially if they have a DP assist.
mostly used projectile assist to get a hit and drill them for a combo.
mid air exchanges often won w/ j.:s:
best bet is j.:s:, j. and j.:h: are easier to see, gets push blocked often.
my personal sentinel counter and anchor for the difficult fights, due to her 3xf 5c x laughable amount of times.
you just need to get in once sir
you dont need to get in at all, morrigan has the tools to keep out a huge chunk of the cast without even needing an assist, if you dont have something like akuma or sent assisting your rushdown its safer to never go in, her jump attacks all lose to 95% of ground attacks, anti airs or not, and she has no dash meaing 9 times out of ten shes coming from the air. She’s incredibly limited in that regard
(i use sent assist tho, and by all means if you know they’re gonna be blocking a lot in the near future get in them guts, but if you’re pushed away before you can really hurt them you’re not put at a disadvantage)
ive started to use missile super just to create space, safely makes a full screen of space and speaking of space even nets you frame advantage
her straight back air dash is pretty good for this too if you’re not in the corner, just check the distance on it if you hold the direction down
if you havent yet, the #1 thing you should be practicing is fireball fly fireball unfly, vary your directions, practice doing it in dif levels of x factor and with your mirror image super set up. Its possible to combo over 20 fireballs together with the mirror super if they happen to fall on em just right
could probably use a list of characters that beat morrigans keepaway
dormammu, hko (can still zone her, but these two characters will never catch each other unless they both commit to something), characters like iron man/ryu are always dangerous with bar…etc etc
she’s a great anti sent character tho, and there’s nothing wrong with killing someone with only fireballs, astral vision chip damage can get lolworthy
