The Queen of MAHVELL 3!: The Morrigan GD Thread

I dont even know her super’s name, lol. Day 1 marvel fail >_<

The reason why i say to use jA is because i THINK you can cancel jL/M/H into jS close to the ground and retain momentum, preventing you from doing any of the hits of jS and simply canceling the flight, leaving you in their face after a single hit which i wouldnt expect to be AG’d as frequently as jS, but im not really sure, i havent tested much. Though when i was about to really test it out i kinda had other things to do. And its like 3:30 in NYC riht now so im gonna head to bed, haha.

I remember doing dash jM jH into that combo did somewhere near 388k, omitting the 5C and with 5C(1 hit) did 375k? Full 5C = 350k. The meter gain is not that much different, you get 3 more hits (which may also be made up later, due to the fact that you can add 6H , jMM, and also the fact that shadow blade is a bit more accurate and hits more times. ) and less damage.

So yeah, going straight from 5M to 2H does more damage and makes the end of the combo a bit more stable. I tested the FULL combo on sentinel, which is not going to work on everyone due to different hitboxes and such.

Your timing has to be good for the 5M, you wanna catch them as low as possible. You need to delay the jS a little bit. The combo is finicky at first but once you get all the little bits and pieces down your average damage goes up quite a bit. When the second 2H lands, you want them to look as if they are already on the floor. the combo is kinda awkward, you can also opt for jS ender if you want ground tech for some reason. And of course, jM jH 214XX for more damage if you want. it should consistently shoot you over 700k, i havent really had much success with stable combos into finishing shower though, but i dont think its because they arent possible, i just suck at that for some silly reason.

Okay, cool. Thanks for clarifying that for me. =)

If you get the chance(or anyone else for that matter) again please test if you can indeed cancel a j.A into j.E close to the ground. That would make for some nasty quick low/command throw mixups out of flight. Or probably even land and trijump again for another mixup.

Edit: Super names are Darkness Ilussion(DI-level 3), Finishing Shower(FS-missile), Shadow Servant(SS-shockwave), and Astral Vision(AV-clone). :wonder:

Also, heavy shadowblade is your go to way for finishing shower. It’s actually really easy.

Whats the “E” youre referring too in j.E???

Edit: E for exchange aka “S”/Special Im assuming.

I think it might be possible to land a j.:s: cancelled after a j.:a:, but I think it will only hit once or twice - which is cool, since the first hit from Shell Kick seems to do the most hitstun. I’ll check tomorrow.

If I recall correctly, DI actually is :qcb:

At least I didn’t need any DP motions to do it. Could be the crappy XBOX pad, I’ll check again tomorrow.

It’s 214/qcb.

Does Astral Vision count as a power-up hyper? Can you DHC from Astral Vision into something else and power up Morrigan’s assists (I know the powered up assists won’t be any better).

If you can, then you could use Astral Vision DHC’s as an easy way to get Morrigan out of trouble. Then, when Morrigan comes back in, she has Astral Visions back, so the meter isn’t wasted like it is with a lot of DHCs

My memory is hazy on this but I think you can DHC in/out astral vision.
The effects wear off if you do any other super/hyper so she won’t come back in with it.
Someone might be able to confirm this or I will later, I’m a tad encumbered right now.

Alright. I’m very interested in using Morrigan in combination with characters that have power up modes (Arthur Gold Armor, Hsien-Ko Dark Force). The plan would be to have Arthur on point, build some meter, then DHC gold armor into Astral Vision. Then I have the insane assists without wasting meter on a super that will almost definitely be blocked.

Hey guys this is my first post, I was just wondering if Morrigan’s Shell Kick influenced her velocity.

I remember in TvC, If I had dashed and instantly Shell Kicked, Morrigan would travel VERY fast across the screen. I thought it made for a very decent rush down gameplay. Thanks!

For the most part, do all characters only have one OTG move?
And is Morrigan’s only OTG the Servant??

pretty sure her only OTG is shadow servant.

messing around with her a little. the whole cancel shadowblade with fly mode is shades of tvc baroque.
trying to be creative with the fly out of specials. not a combo maestro, couldn’t make any practical uses.
can use for baiting? whiff dp right before land fly S?

corner only
IAD:s: :l: :m: :h: :d::h: :s: j:m: j:h: xx shadowblade:h: (wait until last hit) fly j.:s:(3 hit) OTG assist (i used wesker) finishing shower

damage is variable, max I got was around 418k. hitting often in 370-395k area.

Which of Morrigan’s jabs (:l: and :d::l:) hit low and which hit mid? In TvC, standing L hit low but crouching L did not. Wondering if that’s the same here.

It’s the same.
Standing :l: is her standing short/lk in older games. Hits low.
Crouching/:d::l: is the two hit jab. Hits mid.

I don’t know if this was talked about, but if you addf j.s fast enough shell kick will whiff completely very close to the ground. You can go for a command grab/regular throw seamlessly.

It’s pretty awesome that her J.E beats out super armor. Could be useful versus the big guys like Hulk and Sent. Especially Sent, since he seems to have some trouble with good rushdown.

j.:s: works wonders against Sent. If he tries anything, he’ll get hit for a big combo - his hitbox is really combo-friendly, and you can land many extra FS hits on him.

We really need to figure out how to score more than an extra 80k off of an OTG. That Servant OTG just aint cuttin it so far…

I don’t think she has an OTG game, even with an OTG assist.
If try my OTG assist combo, If I launch enemy instead of Finishing Shower, they fall out.
There’s too much hitstun decay on her combos to warrant anything insane. (from my experience)

Maybe I’m not creative or crafty enough. That’d be my guess.
We’ll have to wait for the guide to come out and see what they came up with her.

Reading through that Wiki impressed me a lot. Morrigan does more damage than I thought she would, and those Astral Vision fireballs look amazing. Anyone tried anything crafty with those? Seems like your opponent would be crying in crouch block, and may allow you to set up some cross-up/over head shenanigans. Also, where do you people place/will place Morrigan on your team? I’m not too sure about placing her on point, I think Dormammu would fare better there.

I usually start her out on point or put her in the third spot on my teams(whenever I feel like not putting Dante last). I generally use her as anchor since I trust using her more than anyone else on the roster.
