I’m running MODOK/Ammy/Morrigan, she’s mainly used for Shadow Blade assist and my only true rushdown character lol. She get in easy with Ammy cold star at least but my whole team really has no good OTG options which sucks =[
Yeah, there’s only Shadow Servant that I know of, and it’s not the greatest damage ever. That team seems like it could fare well without OTG’s, though. Even though they’re a big part of the game.
My team is Morrigan/Dormammu/Trish, can’t wait to test them out. I think it’s a nice blend of character types, both Morrigan and Trish can rush and play keepaway. Even Dorm can rush to an extent, though he needs the proper set-up’s for it. I love his keepaway moves.
Changed DI’s input to :qcb: in the first post.
So can you cancel shadow blade with flight to DP with impunity? Because that’s pretty rape lol
Seems that way.
Finally got my hands on the game. Her 8-way dash is funky, in a good way I think.
Her Soul Fist has bad recovery.
You can make it wayyy safer if you do SF > Fly > UnFly.
Playing against MODOK, he can see you throw it out then react and punish w/ a beam. But if you Fly > UnFly its SAFE!!!
Yes. I’ve been playing around with this, it’s pretty godlike. You have to be kind of fast though, you can only cancel the move itself, not the recovery, so if you mess up you’re completely vulnerable until you land.
I’ve been trying things like ending a combo into Shadow Blade in the corner, cancel into flight and drop down while doing Shell Kick for an extra combo, or trying to get my opponent once he recovers in the air for yet another combo. I’m loving this mechanic.
Also, you guys seen the new alt costumes? Morrigan will probably get Lilith or something.
Wait, so j. E can beat out Sentinel’s exchange? I’m looking for a counter to the robot other than using my sentinel lol…I feel like I’m using him as a crutch and my skills with my other two chars (IM and Morrigan) is deteriorating already lol.
BTW, anyone try launch->magic series->shadowblade xx lvl 3? I haven’t tested it yet, but people always have this “WTF I was blocking” look on their face when they get hit by it. I think it crosses them up in the air (MvC2 had a similar mechanic with this same super). I dunno, gimmicky trick to use I guess.
Yes and yes.
j.:s: hits multiple times, so it breaks armor and pretty much rapes Sent.
And Shadowblade xx DI doesn’t crossup in the air if you do it properly. There are some weird cases in which Morrigan switchs sides, but that happens mostly during Astral Vision. I have no idea what triggers this, though.
Just do FS/DI at the last hits of Shadow Blade and it will hit perfectly.
Standing L links after standing L-M-H chain. I can’t do the loop more than once though. Can someone else try it?
EDIT: I can do: Standing L-M-H, L-M-H, L, but then the M part of the chain doesn’t hit.
The ability to cancel specials into fly is really great for Morrigan. The Shadow Blade cancel was a good find.
On the subject of canceling her fireball into fly: You can jump back, L fireball->flight cancel->air dash downfoward->J.S or whatever for some really nice pressure.
My biggest question right now is this:
Is there a way to cancel her air dash down forward(the one that goes down and then up) before it goes up without doing a jump attack? I want to mix up empty jump lows(standing L in Morrigan’s case) with the jump attacks.
lol another edit:
That loop that I described earlier makes it very evident how the game system stops infinite type things from happening. I’m not sure how it counts it, but if you do that loop, you can clearly see that the hit stun just simply decreases as the time goes on.
You can cancel her air dashes into flight or aerial attacks.
BUT, one thing I found out that might work for you is that if you cancel into j.:s: low enough to the ground, you’ll hit the ground before it becomes active, so it’s kind of a “empty dash”.
Not really 8-way. More like 4 way with weird angles. Parabolic dash does for a nice tri-jump. Been testing it with Sent Y and that just might work out.
J.E is great for fake trijumps on opponents who actually want to block. Get a free command throw or low attack.
Sounds like she is shaping up pretty well, glad to hear it. Planning on running her with chris, using that shadow blade assist to help cover any angles he can’t, and maybe using chris’s sub machine gun to help her projectile pressure and help her get in on her opponent. Not sure who my third characters gonna be, seriously considering ammateratsu but i don’t think ill have enough time with the game to truly cultivate my skills with her.
Actually, just tested, you can cancel the recovery (the part where she starts dropping) into flight, but you can’t cancel the recovery when she lands, so I’d say if you’re gonna be doing SB, just get into your muscle memory the timings for the flight to achieve the maximum amount of hits AND to make it safe by flying depending on the strength of the button used for the SB. If you fly too early, you won’t get the full amount of hits of your SB, which may be desirable for certain setups, but for outright damage isn’t efficient.
If you super jump > forward air dash, you can get her air moves out faster than if you were to use the Parabolic dash.
Interesting. Darkness Illusion can be DHCd into from Sent’s Hard Drive. It seems it might be possible from other mid air hypers as well.
A lot of things can DHC into DI.
It’s very very flexible to combo into now, even if she’s not on point.
Great combo extender and gets her on point. Worth the meter? Up to you.
It’s probably the best finisher to a fight. Damn they improved Morrigan’s 3D model.
