Y’all some sensitive ass motherfuckers, gotdamn.
Losing what? Characters and stories don’t impact the economy or the advancement of society. There is an endless well of ideas out there. Dig in and tell something creative of your own instead of letting fanfics come to light.
Medicine and technology affect us in real ways. One company having all the patents to, say, cell phones is important because it stifles competition in an entire industry and holds society back. Ditto for medicine. Fiction? Endless. Supply. Those who want to continue or retell some story already told strike me as unimaginative. They want to ride the success of an already established idea.
^The funny thing is that he’s not trolling at all. He’s for real, contradictions, willful ignorance, and logical/moral acrobatics in all.
EDIT: TROLLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL media does not impact the economy or advancement of society. You sonofabitch, are you familiar with Birth of a Nation? The Bible?
All of your excuses apply exactly to the med/tech fields, yet they aren’t entitled to the profits according to you(because of “society”, quite the collectivistic statement coming from a self professed self made man who owes no one jack shit). What a joke.
Where’s the contradiction?
You understand the Bible was written with the idea that others will spread the word, right? Not having a printing press was a bitch.
If you cannot see the difference between infinite patents in medicine and technology from the infinite patent of a character you are either lying to yourself or really don’t want to give up your stance to reason.
If he didn’t like it, he shouldn’t have died. It is his fault that he is dead. Raz0r can back me up on this.
The contradiction being that media does not impact the economy or “advancement” of society. There’s too many examples to count of the far reaching effects/consequences media has had on the composition of a society, from their economic systems to their culture at at large. I shouldn’t have to explain that to someone like you who’s so smart and well accomplished about everything that ever was.
You read so much raz0r? You’re so smart? Open a fucking history book.
If you want to create a character or tell a story, no one is stopping you. In fact, you can satire whatever you want! But you want to jump on an icon to produce a profit with an idea that was not yours because you aren’t creative enough to do it. You can tell the same bullshit fantasy story without stealing Tolkien’s characters just like Rawlings did. why don’t you do that?
And it isn’t like these originals are kept at inflated prices. We even have libraries so you can read them (or watch them) for free! The world is filled with people with the gift of creating a world and it’s never been easier to get your story out there than right now. If it cannot carry itself, do not piggyback on the creation of another.
I agree 100%
I’m sure that seizure did more damage than you first claimed.

The fact that this man is a Star Trek fan has nothing to do with the fact that he is also currently an astronaut aboard the space station, nor is it the case with the countless other scientists, doctors, and engineers who grew up on science fiction and currently contribute a great deal to the advancement of civilization.
:lovin:
Oh raz0r, it’s ok, everyone’s a hypocrite at some point.
What is the point of that post?
I see zero hypocrisy. I explained my position. You just don’t agree with it.
Yep. Hard to agree with someone who says scientists and engineers don’t deserve perpetual profits because of “society”, yet media artists do. Anyone who benefits off of a media artist’s work is a leech and freeloader, but people who benefit off of a scientist/engineers work are a-ok because it “advances science” and “competition”.
We should let scientists/engineers know that they should just suck it up and let others leech and rip their profits so that others can be “competitive”.
:lovin:
The argument
Why can’t big companies do that for themselves
Disney use a character that nobody alive today came up with, they only use him because they happened to be employed by the company who is the only one allowed to use him
Boy that sure is creative thinking right there huh
I guess we should just stop making books and movies about Santa Claus. Or Sinbad. Or…well, you get it.
I guess I will just have to live without ever seeing Dracula again. I guess Robin Hood Men In Tights was the definitive Robin Hood movie, we can’t have any more of those. Tell Shakespeare’s tomb that there is no point teaching his works in school, because they’re free and in the public domain (and quite 100% beautiful, I might add).
Thread. Lost. Right. There.
If I hire you to my company, provide you with a livable wage and a place to work, and we agree that whatever you come up with is the property of the company, where’s the problem? If you want to own it, get a loan from a bank or finance it yourself to invent it. You know off the bat that idea is now there’s and you accepted the salary I’ve provided you as an agreement of that deal.
On top of that, if you come up with something and I buy all rights to it and you agree, where’s the problem? You are assumed a competent adult. You can make your own decisions. I know dozens of musicians and authors who bankroll shit themselves so they hold onto all the rights of their work.
this shouldn’t be a coddling society. You’re all adults (I assume) so know what you’re getting into.
^Ah, so all scientists/engineers need to do is group their money together and work on creating things on their own then they can bar their inventions from everyone else. Even if it’ll stall competition/innovation : D
You are finally being consistent. Parasite.
