Ive been wondering about this, but whats the frame data on balrogs specials on block, like dash punch, dash body blow (armor breaking move), overhead punch, TAP, dash low punch? I believe i saw this somewhere before but i cant find it. Whens it considered safe or unsafe on block? whats the correct distance for their moves to be safe? I feel like i dont know when to attack whenever im up against this fool.
far hk beats all dashpunches unarmored.
the light dashpunch straight is -1.
just check eventhubs frame data.
How bout you tell them to check out the frame data on the srk wiki, shame on you
the one for balrog on eventhubs is just fine
I’m free against Blanka and Ibuki, so help there would only make me suck a little less.
But I could really use some match up tips against Fei Long, I hate fighting him so much, and I find myself not having good answers against anything he does.
I don’t know if this is common knowledge but I figured I’d just throw it out there anyway.
If Rufus tries to chip you with his U2, if you Ex Soul Throw you take very minimal damage and fly across the screen. I assume it’s the AE nerf he got when using his U2 as an anti-air.
In hindsight, you probably don’t need to burn the meter.
Fei is a tough match for Rose. A lot of this match comes down to not doing random shit and pushing random buttons. Cause Fei will punish with a rekka.
- you can punish chicken wings with soul throw/EX Soul throw.
- Careful with focus attacks or else you’re eating Rekkas. At best, you’ll trade with the 2nd rekka with her focus.
- U2 helps in keeping Fei off you after a knockdown, in the corner, from his pressure in general.
Just about all his normals pose a threat (mainly all strong(MP) and Fierce(HP) buttons).
Thanks.
So what would be the best way to get in? Because I always find myself blocking their spamming rekka attacks, and it gets frustrating.
Same goes for Claw, his… well claw keeps me out. The problem is, characters that are made to get in your faces like Fei and Claw are really difficult for me, same for dive kick characters. If it’s that easy for them to get in I have a hard time playing the game on my terms.
Really just involves a lot of walking back and forth right outside of his rekka and footsie range and trying to punish him for pushing a button. I played a bit more of this match last night but not enough to really go further on it. Hard to really play footsies confidently in this game when shortcuts fuck up whatever type of footsies Rose can do.
I think I said it a few pages ago in this thread that it really depends on how the Vega player plays. If it’s ST Vega with constant wall dave Shenanigans, It’s tough without meter to do EX soul throw. Your only real answers without meter are focusing, sliding, and dashing.
- If you focus, you run the chance of getting grabbed rather than getting hit by the slash.
- If you slide, you risk not getting grabbed or slashed (I need to test this more to be sure.)
- If you dash, you risk getting grabbed.
This isn’t even including wall dive fakes to bait out Soul throws or a U1. If the player is a ST style Vega, I prefer U1 > U2 since U1 auto corrects wall dive mixups. But it also means he’ll try to bait out a U1. But that also means you get some time to breath and get in.
ground based Vegas are more footsie based matches with U2 > U1. You’ll still have wall dives to worry about, but you’ll have to worry more on his annoying pokes than wall dive mixups after knockdown. You treat this like any other match you have to inch you way in except unlike Fei, Vega’s not going to just willingly walk to you since he has to hold charge and has pokes to keep you out for days. Once you get the knockdown, stay on top of him. If he scores a knockdown on you, you’ll have to worry about hop kick mixups and throws. Also don’t be afraid to throw out U2. People will challenge it when the orbs are vertical to Rose. Just mix in Focus baiting and fireballs to get in. Good pokes in this match against Vega:
- st.mk
- cr.mp
- st.mp
- cr. lp
Pretty much all I can give on input from my point of view.
EDIT: Also, Rose can ignore Sagat’s Tiger knee blockstun with cr.MK just like how Ryu can ignore Viper’s burn kick blockstun with cr.mk. I assume cr.mk also works for Rose if Viper does a burn kick.
Anyone have some good matchup tips for El Fuerte and Blanka? Besides U1 Blanka Balls I have no idea what to do. And the Blanka I played recently blew me up for it. Also, I just got bodied by a Fuerte for having no clue what to do against his mixup. Quesadilla, Quesadilla, Quesadilla. I couldn’t Soul Throw, I couldn’t backdash, I could only U2 and that still didn’t fix the problem
Thanks a lot for all the great help Shin Oni
So in the chin match…exactly how is rose supposed to deal with St. MP. That along with fireballs and seem to shut rose down hard. Any tips?
Chun*
You know there’s an edit button right?
Rose doesn’t really have an option to st.strong outside of not getting hit by it or staying right outside of its range. Maybe Rose’s st.strong? You’d have to see chun’s st.strong to catch her before she retracts though. As for the fireball game, you can reflect or fireball back. Don’t get to reflect heavy since Chun can just walk behind the fireball and Hazanshu you once you reflect. HP version helps a lot but she’ll go over the fireball if she does Hazanshu early. Just push her into the corner (which she’ll probably do with her fireball if she’s not downbacking.) and keep her there.
I forgot about the edit button. The HP reflect is actually a great idea. I guess its just the way I play but St. Strong just seems to own my soul.
It does that.
Can anyone update the first post please?
I neeeeeeed help against Sagat i can’t do anything. FB War isn’t that great for Rose. What can I do in close range against him? A good Sagat sucks so haard >_<
The hardest part about this matchup is the dmg risk reward. You have to know ALL your options against each of his fireballs. He has two. You react differently according to each one. You slide, duck, block, and absorb the high TS. You reflect, absorb, jump, focus, and block the low TS. Know how to move forward and backwards according against each. NEVER JUMP against high TS. Lame him out. Ultra 1 is probably better since you need to be able to deal a lot of dmg. Once you’re in, tick throw him. With ultra 1, he wants to TU but he can’t b/c he knows you have a loaded gun waiting. That gives you free throw setups. Delay ALL your throws. Catch his tech. Its still and uphill climb but not so bad once you know to not take unnecessary risks.
Keys:
- Don’t jump over high TS. Jump and punish low TS.
- Block, absorb, reflect, focus forward dash, focus back dash. BLOCK BLOCK BLOCK. Chip dmg is fine. It’s good even. It’ll get him trigger happy making it easier for you to read and jump over his LOW TS.
- Stand just a bit back on his wakeup where you can walk forward and then choose to either react and backdash against TU or continue forward and throw him. He’ll get frustrated which leads to a Ultra punish against a blocked TU.
- Pay attention to meter, hp, and the clock. It’s better to lame out aim at a time win.
Thx jason
btw
I can’t say I have much experience against good Sagats but I don’t think it’s that hard for Rose, especially in the fireball department. That’s just free meter, just stay on your toes for those EX fireballs. I usually absorb and occasionally reflect fireballs back, sometimes when they alternate between high and low your reflected shot (now in the middle) will not clash and hit them. Just don’t try to beat his fireball with your fireball. Rose’s fireball is garbage, and if you try to win against his fireballs you’re going to eat a fireball or a jump in. So stick to absorbs, reflects, and focus absorbs to build meter.
Getting in just requires patience. Well spaced jumps and even focus absorb dashes are a decent way to get it in, just always be mindful of your spacing. You can also of course slide under high fireballs, and even low ones though you may have to hit them for that to work. I’ve actually slid under low tiger shots before when the slide connects. I’ve never really tried to just raw slide under them without thinking I’d hit them. Rose has good tools to get past zoning characters. And she doesn’t have to get past them either since she benefits the most out of any character by just sitting back and letting them throw fireballs. You’ll have super before they have an EX bar. I honestly thing a good Sagat should try to get in on Rose more. Rose isn’t a good zoning character in my opinion, but she is the best anti zoning character. When I think I can land a good jump in on him I like to use jumping roundhouse more than jumping fierce. Fierce is easier to hit with but I think j.roundhouse gives you better range and will hit sooner, give you a better shot at your jump in combo. I like to keep it simple then with just a cr.strong xx spiral, cr.fierce will give you more damage but it whiffs more in my experience.
When you’re in you can actually do the saqs combo (cr.jab~jab~short, cr.strong xx EX Spiral) without using meter, since Sagat’s hitbox is so big. You lose some damage from your basic bnb, but it’s a super easy hitconfirm so I think it’s worth it sometimes. Poking into spirals works even better on him since there is less chance of whiffing because of spacing. Sagat’s got such a bad walk speed that tick throws aren’t that scary so I’d crouch tech less against him, in my experience the more I (pointlessly) crouch tech’d against some Sagat players the more combos I ate. I think Sagat has some fuzzy guard tricks like Adon so that’s something to keep in mind when he is pressuring your wake up. Also I try to slide under Sagat’s jumps less because a lot of the times his j.short is able to catch it. As for his wake up, I find beating out his tiger uppercut with a j.forward pretty easy.
Someone who plays better Sagats may have better insight though.
