I get the feeling not many people know much about rose when making those match up charts. But I feel that way in general. They are shocked to see a Rose.
Though, it is interesting to see Chun-li that high. Good, yeah, but top tier? /shrug.
Poor Makoto is the worst of the bunch…but onto Rose.
I don’t know about some of them, but Guile having a 6-4 advantage over Rose is quite odd. I would love to ask the authors why they think Guile has that over a character he can’t beat at long range.
From what I’ve seen, anyone who either doesn’t main Rose or doesn’t play against Rose often with Guile, thinks that Guile wins this matchup. I’m surprised more people don’t think she loses every matchup with the way she’s treated on these damn charts. Short of someone owning with Rose at bigger tourneys, she’s never going to get the respect she deserves.
On another note, finally got to Rank B, no thanks to the endless freaking waves of Rog I got today.
The biggest problems I have with that matchup charts:
Rose/Bison= 5-5 Easily 4-6 Bison
Rose/Balrog= 5-5 lol. 4-6 Balrog
Rose/Abel= 5-5 should be 6-4 Rose
Rose/Guile= 4-6 should be 6-4 Rose
Rose/Rufus= 4-6 should be 3-7 Rufus
Rose/Gief= 4-6 should be 5-5
Rose/Ryu= 6-4 should be 5-5 at best
Rose/Ken= 5-5 should be 6-4 Rose
Rose/Honda= 5-5 should be 4-6 Honda
Rose/Sagat=4-6 should be 5-5
Rose/Gouken= 5-5 should be at least 6-4 rose, probably 7-3
Rose/Vega= 5-5 4-6 Vega
Rose/Dhalsim= 4-6 should be 6-4 Rose
Rose/Viper= 5-5 should be 6-4 Rose

And yeah some match-ups do look pretty off.
Hmm, with that, Rose would gain 4 Matchup Points, which would put her on par with Ryu. Now, doing some shuffling around…Ryu would move up slightly, and she’d go above Sim and would be tied with Sagat and Rufus.
I’m gonna say Rose has the advantage over Honda honestly.

I really don’t know much about the Dhalsim matchup since I don’t really play many. What am I supposed to do (or not supposed to do)?

I agree to most of these except the 3-7 to Rufus. I think it is 4-6 as well at high level of play.

I mean clearly it is the other way around.
But yea Rose is a good character in this game.
Where she places on the tier list is not that important now as she has the tools to compete.
People just need to learn her matchups.
Seth is a legit counterpick against Rufus. Justin knows by playing OnlineTony and Demon Hyo. lol.
I’m perturbed about the Sim matchup. If he does FP fireball and Rose reflects it she gets hit by Sim’s FP. If she counters his fireballs with lp spark, she can get hit in recovery with FP. He can even teleport behind her if she telegraphs her fireballs. Rose doesn’t have a great focus attack with good forward range to hit his limbs. I just don’t see Rose having an advantage mid to full screen (which is obviously Sims preferred range). Once Rose gets in its a different story, but if Sim plays it right I feel he has better options.
I never had a problem with Sim before. But I pretty much got bodied by Arturo at the Break. I just did not see a way in. That being said, he does beat Daigo :china:
The only thing I can see against Dhalsim is Rose staying full screen and getting away from fireballs with her own because Dhalsim has worse recovery I believe on his fire balls and FP doesn’t go full screen.
just doing jabs from full screen works because it beats out his teleports and he’s not in range, when you see him go in just jump in on him then.

I honestly think outside of her obvious losing matchups (Rufus, Honda, Bison, Balrog) she has neither enough of an advantage or disadvantage to say she wins or loses. 5-5s across the board IMO.
Can someone explain why the consensus is 4-6 for rog? For some reason I don’t remember much discussion specific to that matchup. Just standard boxer stuff? Same with Honda?
Which isn’t that good IMO. With 4 Losing matchups and no true winning matchups, that means it all rides on the player. I can live with that, but it doesn’t leave a lot of room for error like other characters.

You guys dont consider Blanka a losing matchup? I’d add that to her list of bad matchups imo.
