The Power of Gaia! The Storm Combo Thread!

Does anyone know a way to extend Storm’s combos using Cold Star? The usual ways aren’t working out for me.

What ways are you trying? To be honest, there aren’t many ways to extend Storm’s combos with Cold Star. The hitstun on Cold Star was made worse in Ultimate, so opponents are going to fall out of combos a lot faster due to hitstun. Storm’s hitstun is already bad, so it combined with Cold Star is just horrific. I personally think it’s a bit hard to try to use Cold Star to extend a combo that you’ve already got your opponent in. The extra damage you usually get is miniscule, but you do build slightly more meter.

One way you can do it is with Storm’s bnb jump loop. cr.low->cr.m->cr.h->jc.m->j.m->j.h->st.m then immediately call cold star assist->j.h->j.h->st.m->s etc. etc.

This actually nets you around the same amount of damage if you had just done the regular bnb loop without the assist though! The only plus is the slightly more meter. There are other ways to incorporate Cold Star to extend Storm combos, but again, I find the extra damage is either miniscule or nearly the same as when I just do the regular Storm combos, or they just fall out too much. The only real advantage is again the slightly extra meter.

I think with Cold Star you hope you can land one raw on a opponent and combo from there. It’s much more practical and far easier to do combos from a raw Cold Star hit, cause she has more options. With Cold Star, it’s primary purpose with Storm is for the lockdown so you can do a hi/low mixup and not necessarily to extend her combos. I will say this though, if you ever land a raw Cold Star hit, try to confirm it into a cr. m instead of a cr. l if you’re going for a low. Cr. L causes MASSIVE hitstun with Storm and will cause a lot of her foes to fall out of her combos or do significantly less damage. Cr. m lets you extend it for little longer in addition to doing more damage in the long run.

hey if you LA down-foward after a double typhoon > hailstorm ender in the corner you get a reset. if youve got 1 meter it usually results in a dead character if you get the grab or confirm. its actually amazing.

Its funny you say that becausei have the same type reset recorded was trying to record more stuff with both Storm and Spidey before I uploaded it

yea i have a bunch of things recorded too but i wanted to make a video out of all of em instead of just uploading a bunch of clips. never get around to it though.

what are u guys doing off of air throws with storm?

Does anyone know about Airthrow > addf j.L > st.LMS > combo at regular jump height? Is it any good? I dont know much about storm, but I just found this while messing with fanatiq’s team. Got like, 380k with that into a fly loop and then hailstorm at the end.

Hmm I never actually tried to air dash down after a normal throw. Figured anything less than :h: would fuck up scaling too much but it can’t be too bad if you still getting fly loops off it.

I ask because if u have a character that has an org u can hard tag off of her air throw. Xero try it out with Spiderman. I do it with Dante then I exchange into either of her exchange combos

thats sick, i dont know why i never tried that. i can get 750 off a throw now if i dhc into storm after dante clay pidgeon. it seems backthrow is more damaging then front throw because it leaves you closer after the tag. but i guess the damage would also depend on where you are on screen and if/what assist you have to back you up after the tag. looks like its dead character time after 1 throw reset which is less dangerous then going for a normal reset and with storm being as amazing as she is with resets in general, this is awesome.

How easy are this woman’s tac infinites. I might make a side team with her if they are fairly easy.

Rokmode, if you can do her fly loop you can do her infinite they are that easy.

So Matrix, you are saying I can do the normal jump throw into tag then OTG with second character? Hmm ideas ideas ideas… gonna work on that tonight. Does is reset the scaling like in Vanilla?

Yeah I was messing with it also and I was pissed I overlooked that. Hell I was trying it with Spidey months ago but didn’t think to try it with Storm. Oh well I can get roughly 870K after a DHC if I tag into Doom and go for his loops. Spidey’s OTG is too slow since it requires him to jump first and the pose already takes forever to recover. As for combos with Storm after any air throw for teams that don’t have OTG characters. She can get up to 450K, may be more or less depending on team structure, if you go into Lightning Attack combos. For my team it ends up looking like this:

Normal jump throw, addf j:l: s:l: s:m: c:h: jc :f: lightning attack :d: lightning attack s:m: jc j:h: plus Doom assist, adf j:h: s:m: c:h: jc j:h: add s:m: :s: sj:h: xx :l: lightning sphere :s: land double typhoon xx hailstorm- 458K

The combo is the same for super jump height except you would air dash down forward with j:s: and would omit the first s:l: and go straight into the s:m:. Both combos are a lot easier to do than the double typhoon combos and do more damage, not by much though, than the OTG combos. Also that particular combo builds over a bar. Personally I still think it would be more efficient to raw tag if you can followup the throw as you will get more damage and meter more than likely.

Out of either throw u can land a volcano with dante. What combo are u doing with dante?? I usually exchange back into storm.

yea i do volcano j.H, air play, falling H, st.H, down+H, S, clay pidgeon 2-3 times depending on range, foward+H, teleport, hammer, beehive, jetstream, fireworks, million dollars, hailstorm. you could do more things with that if you wanted to but im not as consistant as i want to be with hitting the wallbounce at the right height so skydance wont knock you away. could also do more with a good assist for dante combo’s. i guess i went on about dante in a storm forum my bad lol.
