The Power of Chi! Official Iron Fist thread!

I don’t think I’ve seen it mentioned which kind of surprises me, doesn’t it look like he can freely chain fists of fury into either of his other supers (if near the corner and having not used the wallbounce), probably after thgowing in a chi charge, like for free?

Perhaps? It depends how how quickly he recovers.

I noticed this as well, you might be able to add a quick LMH rekka into super as well, but only time will tell.

It does seems to be the case.

Also, I hope you can TK Chi out of any ground rekka, they look unsafe as hell

which leads to the other question; ic you hyper cancel a chi charge, do you still get the charge?

It seems that :mk: causes a groundbounce. That’s good to know, so he needs a groundbounce to OTG.

ya… only one self-otg in the combo is actually a bit of suckage… altho it looks like he can tod anyways if he gets the combo.

It looks like while he does high damage with each hit, he doesn’t seem to be able to extend combos much more than we’ve seen.

And Wesker is still OP.

So on a more positive note watching Max’s new set of videos gives me some hope for IF as long as hes point man. Once he gets in you get wrecked.

He seems like he’ll be rather hard to play to me.

I think that Taskmaster’s arrows would be better than Psionic Blaster.

sniff

Super early to tell, but i have a feeling that Iron Fist is in many ways the new Tron. An apparently very good assist, a hard time opening people up and closing the distance, very good combos and damage once he finally nails you at close range.

I sincerely hope he’s more than that, of course. I want him to be bouse.

Got to play a lot of Iron Fist today. There’s not much I can tell you other than utilizing his wave dash is one of the most important aspects of his game play. With a good assist you can constantly stay in someones face. His low normals don’t seem to have that much range so I think standing normals will be the best option to start attacks with, and his l.:l: doesn’t hit low IIRC. His air throw is nice, if you get it real low off the floor the opponent lands right next to you and you can follow up with Crescent Heel > Dragon Palm xx hyper. If you get an air throw normally, they’ll be too far to follow up with an OTG. Ground throw is hard knock down too but the opponent is thrown too far outside of the corner.

Fists of Fury is NOT safe on block, but it recovers very quickly.

Oh, and Haggar is a bad matchup. Iron Fist can’t fuck with DAT PIPE.

EDIT: If you can’t wave dash, learn, or don’t play Iron Fist.

So it’ll be easiest to play him with a hitbox.

Honestly, I’d say that Haggar does reasonably well against most rushdown characters that can’t keep him out.

What was your team?

I was playing a mixture of a few characters, but I’d say the two teams I played the most were Iron Fist/Dormammu/Dante and Dormammu/Dante/Wesker.

Which assists did you use? Black Hole sounds like it would work out pretty nicely for Iron Fist since it gives him nice cover. Jam Session would be another good assist for Iron Fist to keep people out of the air.

Upon reflection, I think that Iron Fist/Taskmaster/Doom would be better. Psionic Blaster would knock them in the air, which you don’t want.

I’m thinking of using Ironfist/Ghost Rider/Vergil I main Doom and Task so that team doesn’t fit I can always switch GR or Trish out. I think GR’s long range chain assist might make the opponent block long enough for Fisto to get in. Maybe GR’s fast OTG fire spike will help Iron Fist maximize throw damage. Maybe Trish if Vergil doesn’t fit.

Of course low voltage may not be the best assist for closing the distance but’ll do if GR’s assist can’t plus it has a big hitbox so it’ll be hard for them to avoid it. I really would like to use peekaboo during blockstrings up close to see it would help lock them down because it’d might stop them from jumping and let me keep on the pressure.

Not sure which Vergil assist I’ll use but I’m I can find one that will work for my team.

Wow, I was thinking of running the same team. Rapid Slash will be Vergil’s most useful assist because you can continue combos with Ghost Rider using it and you can do some nasty mixups with Iron Fist.

I’m definitely going to pick up IF at some point… I just don’t know how to play a Recca(sp?) character though in general. o_O

From the way I see it in videos of Fei Long, et al, it seems to be all about properly hit confirming yea?
