I just wish Wesker wasn’t so brain dead to use.
Hopefully, all of my assumptions and theory fighting will be correct when the game gets released in November. Making an unorthodox team of Iron Fist (not sure which assist yet) / Spider-Man (Web Ball) / Strider (Gram, stationary slash that wall bounces on hit). As long as Capcom doesn’t nerf Spider-Man too much, neither Iron Fist nor Spider-Man will need meter to do big damage. DHC-ing between Iron Fist and Spider-Man shouldn’t be a problem either: Fists of Fury > Maximum Spider / Crawler Assault or Maximum Spider > Spirit of the Dragon. Web Ball for those high / low Rekka mixup resets. It’s going to be sick!
I need to see all three Iron Fist assists before I can determine if he’ll go on my Zero or Viper teams. I like the way they designed him enough to make a third team if need be. I’ve been really strict about keeping my team count low, but they did a really good job putting him together.
He has the crumple palm assist, the overhead OTG assist and the dragon kick wallbounce assist.
I complete n utterly forgot he can jump.cancel even more mixups
People keep saying that his rekka’s start low,high,overhead, but I think that’s not quite right. They freely chain, not counting the enders. So you can totally do overhead>low>crumple, I think. … I’m presuming you can’t chain some of them into themselves (altho I’d guess the straight one you can).
Also, about assists, seriously… If we’re right, Overhead and OTG. That has to be the most useful thing ever… unblockables and combo extender in one sexy package.
From how I understood it from Seth’s walkthrough was that he has two types of Rekka: :qcf: (punches) and :qcb: (kicks).
For high-low mixups you can do :qcf::l: > :qcb: > :qcf::h:
He also said you can get all 8 Rekkas in one combo. I may have to watch the vid over, but that’s how I understood it.
so you can do each one once? That would make a lot of sense.
Somebody listed them I think, but just for the thought exercise tell me if I’m missing any;
punch: standard rekka, crumple palm
kick: low kick, overhead/otg kick, rising kick (minilauncher), dragon kick.
PS: To those saying ‘jam kick’, shame on you, all these moves in all fighters have the same origin:
"Flying Kick!

What was Bruces’ last movie called anyways? That has to be the essential flying kick, but I couldn’t get a clip of just that.
But it will be more useful for characters like Dante that are always in your face when they want to. If you want to get in in the first place the dragon kick is much better, and the crumple one can lead to intense combos and resets.
So he has 3 useful assists and seems to be great on point with the right assists. He looks like the next Wesker really.
It’s comparable to Wesker’s OTG/Low Shot assist in that case… which is insanely useful for many characters.
yeah, that’s a good comparison… with the bonus that overhead assists are substantially rarer than low assists. only one I can think of in the current game is burn kick.
So be it. Imma keep saying it because Jam was my GG main.
Anyway, this thread title is making me so HUNGRY
Akuma has an otg overhead assist(yes people, akuma has more than one assist) but its too damn slow to use for combo extension. Hopefully iron fists assist is actually useful, there were far too many ass assists in marvel 3.
The overhead would probably be awesome for Zero with his long blockstrings.
Just wanted to link the clip, and I overuse the term ‘Philistines!’

Its funny to me, in the clip Killian spends some time talking about how good his pokes are… which is a primary concern in marvel, amirite?
Edit: Thought Akuma’s didn’t overhead for some reason? (dive kick, right?) the IF one seems faster and safer than that, thankfully… slower than Samurai edge, but about the same speed as burn kick. Dragon kick is all about style, or maybe if it has some good invulnerability, antizoning.
… just realized, Killian didn’t talk about yellow chi at all. Wonder if he just forgot, or if its just a visual effect?
Yeah it is a concern.
Sounds about right, though I don’t know the other two punches either. Also all their proper names are based on Bruce Lee movie titles (also from Seth’s video - I really need to watch it again).
I’m guessing that the other 2 are more standard punches, maybe differing ranges and safety. It would explain why we haven’t noticed them, and would make sense in the context of the move (presuming that you can really do each move once in a rekka chain)
Edit:
Now I’m obsessed with whether LMH>KPPPP (to crumple)>Chi>LMH>KPPPKKK rekka combo would work. I think it would, at least based on what we’ve been told… and it would look so awesome, if maybe not being actually practical.
That would be (chain)-low rekka into full punch to crumple, charge, chain, low kick, punch punch punch, overhead, rising kick, dragon kick to finish (overhead might not actually work there, but I’m dreaming so…) Then dragon fire or 1 inch punch at the end, since its a corner carry
The best part of those combos is that he will scream WOOOOOAH, WATTA and stuff like that all the way while he does it. <3
