Rose is killer, absolute killer to Guy unless you play a flawless game she just has the right frame advantage on all the right moves
I agree Ive played good Rose players and have a serious problem with them. Losing more than Ive won. I figured because I sucked lol
Anyone know if they changed the frame advantage on c.lk or startup frames on EX-Hozanto? I’m seeing a bunch of people combo the two in AE but I tried it last night on console and it definitely did not combo.
c.lk always combos into EX.Hozanto, if memory serves correctly. You have to cancel into it of course - you can’t link it. I keep meaning to implement cr.lk, cr.lk, EX.Hozanto, FADC, Ultra1 into my game, but I don’t often get the opportunity.
Otherwise, it’s possible they changed the hitStun or Recovery on cr.lk in AE - I’ve been seeing a lot of Guy players combo into the Bushin Combo from it which I didn’t see that often in SSF4.
Not positive but i thought someone said the cr lk was 3 frames now? Which is super big relief if so!
It definitely has a 3-frame start-up, that’s been confirmed. But the startup has no bearing on anything that comes after it unless they either changed 1) the frame advantage of c.lk on hit or 2) reduced the start-up on EX-hozanto
don’t look the frame advantage on hit since it’s not a link but a a cancel like seriousstu said
cr lk have 13 frame of hitstun and ex hozanto has 10 frames of startup. That means you can combo.
Capcom did not change this in AE

Damn shame he dont play Guy no more.
He still plays Guy as an alternate I believe.
Ah thanks for the clarification! Sometimes I get too caught up in the math of frame data that I forget about cancelability!

I know this is a very old video, but I deleted my old channel for personal reasons and wanted to update the link for y’all.

Izuna*
Awesome video. I just started playing guy a few days ago and have been struggling to use the Izuna effectively. Thanks for the update.
Your video actually made me come up with various set ups revolving around the TK Izuna, do thanks for that. Case in point:

@3:50 … looks like they nerfed the hitbox on FF chain quite a bit O-o…
Yah that is garbage, speaking of garbage I put my SSF4 disk in man the timing is so off after playing Marvel Vs Capcom, I almost forgot what I was doing lol.
Some characters have odd hitboxes (especially when they’re stunned) that cause cl.HK > Bushin Chain to drop, so I’m not really sure if Capcom changed Bushin Chain much. If anything, cl.HK may have more push back now, but I’m a bit skeptical. We won’t know for sure until the AE DLC comes out unless someone is willing to test it.
Off the top of my head, I’ve never landed cl.HK > Bushin Chain on Dee Jay.
not so ninja [e]dit:
I finally got it to work against Dee Jay, but I guess it’s something I should’ve figured out earlier. You need to walk forward a little bit after the cl.HK. As for Dudley, it doesn’t work when he’s stunned.
THanks for clearing that up streak. Upon watching the video I was sceptical as well cos it happened on a dizzied character.
Best to lev 3 focus attack dudley on stun then.
I’m pretty sure I’ve landed it before… after getting frustrated with how some characters hit-reel animation caused cl.HK to whiff, I did some research to see which characters you could land a deep j.HK followed by cl.HK. I’m pretty sure Dudley was one of the few characters where it didn’t matter what hit-reel animation he was in - you could still hit him with cl.HK without it ever whiffing. Unless he’s in his dizzy animation, where he’s completely keeled over…
And that keel animation might be what’s causing the FF chain to miss in that instance of the vid. The ‘centre’ of Dudley (is there a proper term for this?) might be further back than it looks and the dizzy hit/collision boxes are pushing him forward, causing him to be further back when he’s hit out of it. It’s similar to hitting Dhalsim out of one of his long-reach attacks.
To be certain, I think I’ll do some research on this and post my finding in this thread later. Otherwise, I think it’s probably safest to either go for a lvl3 Focus or do a jump in attack on a dizzy Dudley (preferably HK as I think HP will whiff just like it does on Akuma).
EDIT:
Shit, just realised you said you never landed it on Deejay, not Dudley. Sorry! Oh well, in my tests (in Super) I was able to land the FF chain after cl.HK quite easily, whether stunned or not. I guess in AE they either messed with the FF chain’s attack box or Dudley’s hitbox? Or the cl.HKs knock back effect like you mentioned. Hmm… I hope we don’t have to relearn a whole load of new character specific stuff for Guy again. I really dig linking into the FF chain from cl.HK!
