The Power of Bushin...Guy Video Thread!

Good shit Streak. Especially #1. Alot of the opponents I often play know the forward throw, forward jump x2, cross-up/command elbow set up. Adding the lp flip adds a third completely valid option as the lp flip looks like another forward jump.

Now I’m thinking of throwing lp flip into another of my common crossup set-ups which is any flip grab or Izuna, forward dash, forward jump, cross-up/elbow. Also following bushin chain throw, slight step forward, forward jump and 1 of same 3 options. Hmmm, gotta try this myself now…

The problem with most of my setups is the fact that the timing for each one may have to be adjusted against different characters due to their different hit boxes. That’s the reason why I included EX Bushin Flip as an option in the above situations. In my opinion, EX Bushin Flip is easier to land, but that may be because I’m used to using EX more than LP.

As for the Back Throw + Run > Overhead mixup, it’s a matter of timing as well. If you perform Run > Overhead immediately after the whiffed st.LP, Guy will land on the other side of Ryu. If you wait very briefly after the st.LP, because of Ryu’s wake up animation, Guy will stay on the same side when he does the Run > Overhead.

To showcase the significance of timing, try these two examples:
[] Go into training mode and pick Dhalsim as the dummy opponent. Perform a Forward (Neutral) Throw and immediately jump forward twice. When you press MK, Guy will whiff his cross up MK. However, if you wait very briefly after the first jump, Guy will hit Dhalsim with the cross up.
[
] Go into training mode and pick Balrog (Boxer) as the dummy opponent. Perform a Forward (Neutral) Throw and immediately jump forward twice. When you press MK, Guy will hit Balrog in the front. However, if you wait very briefly after the first jump while holding forward, Guy will cross up Balrog when jumping the second time.
Well, that’s going to need some training mode exploration.

2nd round raaaaaaape.

I practiced a few of these yesterday the dash forward lp bushin hit a good 90% of the time, cause everyone expects the cross up

Being a PSN user myself, I actually reconized your gamer tag, Vintagesoul, from the replay channel. That’s a good plinking tip (cr.Lk-cr.Lp+cr.LK). Remembering back when I saw your replays, you got that cr.Lk, cr.Lk, cr.Lk, sMP into Run Slide down pack. I like using
cr.Lp, cr.Lp, cr.Lk into Run Slide, medium Tatsu or EX Hozanto. I was just in training and the Plinking definitely seem to work. Though lately I’m starting to like cr.Lk, cr.LP, cr.LP into medium Tatsu a little better. Good stuff, keep them coming.

That was nice. Surprised he’s using U2 against Adon though. I thought U1 would make the opponnent think twice about the jaguars. Was that a neutral jump TK ex izuna though? I’ve been thinking on using that on Adon’s wake up pressure with his NJ HK, or is it MK he does. Haven’t really tested it.

1 missed rising jaguar or a jaguar kick to far in = free U2.

Guy’s U2 can punish Adon’s off the wall kick, so I figure that would always be the ultra of choice against Adon.

I just signed up here, took me long enough to do that. I´m a Guy mainer since day 1, and I play on PSN, my ID there is elwoodblues85. My location is Germany, but I have a US-account. I like my user ID, so I never thought about changing that.
I´d like to share some videos I uploaded on youtube, feel free to comment and to criticize.

Nox definitely didn’t make it easy for daigo. Interesting to watch. It’s just a shame that Guy has to rely a lot on baiting Ryu’s dps and following with punishes. But that’s how he is right now.

The fact that you can’t really safe jump Ryu is hard, but you can use that against him like Nox was doing. Doing some really well timed jump ins on Ryu’s wake up, and baiting Dps.

Ryu uses the low Mk to avoid the elbow drop - you can also make that work against him by jumping in with MK instead of doing the drop. Happens at least once in this fight.

This matchup seems more possible after watching those vids.

It’s gonna be better when ryu cant escape from corners easily. Plus his cr.mk wont be as good

Not that its a bad thing, but Nox plays almost exactly like Kiryu.Down to the costume colour and all!

Nox did well but he got alot of his damage from baited DP’s which isnt really a solid tactic.Nice use of st.forward from him though, it caught alot of Daigos pokes.

i really liked that standing forward use by nox

awesome match

Diago didn’t respect his Guy for awhile I think till he was getting rocked, cause he was DP’ing through some of his block strings. Nox did a good job and didn’t drop to many combos at all, I think if he would of canceled his hozanto to U2 one match it might of got him.

Good matches ELwood very solid
