The Power of Bushin...Guy Video Thread!

I’d expect a patch with the Tourney DLC or when the arcade version drops. They need to take out Fei’s Juri only infinite and some other oversights I’m not aware of.

as much as i’d love to have things fixed about guy… i can honestly live with it if they weren’t. i can deal with weak footsies and whatnot and find ways to win around it. but guy being able to be combo’d by a throw is just ridiculous. what is this? sf2? that’s something that HAS to be fixed. i don’t think capcom can overlook that. i’d definitely expect them to fix that with their next update if anything were to be done.

I didn’t use Guy previously in the Alpha games much or not at all, but were his footsies better in those games?

So I’m assuming if you didn’t do the EX version of a move that means the Izuna Drop loses to it…correct?

i didn’t play a lot of a1 or a2, but in a3 his normals were REALLY friggin good. his normals counterhit all over the place. st. and cr. strong had massive priority… especially cr. strong. st. forward could hit from half screen because he stepped in first. his slide was much safer and easier to gauge the safe distance. his walk speed was really fast allowing for walk up throws.

Aww :[ All those moves you listed I was trying to use right now lol. They all have kinda stubby range in SSF4. Best poke I found was far st. MK which works kinda well.

Correct, if you jump like i did in the videos without an ex you’re screwed.

And at everyone complaining about the guy being thrown while crouching in combos, it’s only while crouching, and it really wont be gamebreaking.

ur kinda missing the point… the fact that this exist isnt the main prob… its the fact that the mechanics behind this nd other glitches r most likely prevalent in other situations nd systems… that my friend is game-breaking! this is jus 1 example…

any notes and tips are appreciated… one thing i kno for sumthin is i need to add more bushin elbow drops to my game

dreadz- not bad… just a few small things i’d say. after cody’s ex zonk… you can get a full ff chain on block. i saw you went for his target combo instead. also… more than just his ex zonk can be hit by a full ff chain. regular zonk knuckles can be punished by ff chain. as long as he’s not doing it from max distance… you can punish it on block with a full ff chain. as long as he’s doing them from up close. you’d be surprised by how far away cody can be and the full chain will still work. also… if he’s a little further… st. strong xx run slide works too. it has to be pretty fast… but it’s not difficult.

also… get used to hit confirming if an opponent is standing. you landed a jump in in the 2nd round and went cr. jab x2, target combo. if you get used to hit confirming on a standing opponent… you can link the cr. jabs to ff chain for a lot more damage. but all in all …not bad.

edit: in response to what ActualProof said. like he said… it’s not that he can get grabbed during hit stun. it’s that… in my opinion i think that’s a pretty big glitch. it just proves that guy was pretty rushed and possibly overlooked in general. testing wasn’t properly done on him. and it might not be just him. super in general might’ve been rushed and if something like that was found in a week and a half of it’s official release. there could be tons more bugs.

Couple things I noticed:

Pressure better off of your forward throws. You have more mix-up options than dashing forward and jump attacking.

Use down+strong in the air to change your jump arcs and contend with his anti-airs. Guy is one of the few characters that can ignore most anti-airs. It’s worth trying at least twice a match to see if down+strong beats out the opponents anti-air.

It’s good that the replay system is there built into the game because viewing these videos is good to see what I need to work on. So far, I need to use his normals more (still trying to find out what’s good) and stop using that bunshin flip a lot. :sweat: :rofl:
