It at least looked like the Ultras at the end were IDropped on reaction
Could someone please explain this? I come from VF and “option select” traditionally means you input an ambiguous command and the game basically picks whatever move would be the best for you and that one comes out.
So … for number 1 - when they wake up and you are close - do I hold down and press LP+HK, LP+HK, and if they just wake up normal two low jabs come out and if they wake up with a backdash the slide comes out? Is this correct?
For the second one - I just jump in at the right time (safe jump) and press fierce at the last second and if they wake up normal - it hits them (or they block it … whatever), but if they are doing a reversal then the jumping fierce does not come out? Is this correct?
I playbacked the c.mk into ex izuna and played the characters that were doing the reversals to ensure they were done on early frames of wakeup. The reversals and ex izuna pretty much have to come out within 1-3 frames of eachother, otherwise guy wont win it out. BUT: If the reversal is done on the earliest frame when waking up and the throw is timed correctly it always beats it. It’s good because you’re mid jump frames when the opponent is waking up, and reversal normally seems like an excellent option to a non safejump. If you have extra meter and they don’t reversal but you think they’re going to punish when you land, remember you recovery instantly and can ex tatsu if you’re yomis feelin tight.
The only ones I actually couldn’t playback were the ultras, which I personally reacted to for recording. Supers as well. The only character with an off the ground reversal that I couldn’t seem to land a throw on was guile, made me pretty sad.
I’ve been hitting people (Note: Flowcharters) with it in matches lately and wanted to put a little more time into it and see what all it beats, after finding such a long list I decided to throw it into video format for a nice little reference.
Good gimmick, can definitely be used to keep shotos at bay in the oki battle.
so reversals beat out regular izuna?

SO more bad news… Guy is bugged (in case you didnt notice all the BS he is susceptible to) the posted vid shows something truly distrubing, and provides evidence to why his properties are so skewed, specifically hitboxes and ghost boxes that create a frustrating whiff situation on things that shouldnt. ANyway this is prob jus one of his many design problems that were probably overlooked because the devs didnt put much time into him, while “balancing” the cast

This needs to be brought to capcoms attention so they can fix him hopefully when the dlc releases.
The question is if capcom actually listens or cares… The game isnt balanced lol it was a front for the new and improved online mode which is somewhat worse than what Vanilla Sf4 is now… smells fishy as if Super was rushed for some odd reason lol things overall feel incomplete specifically with our man Guy nd Makoto… two rush down chars that have faulty tools to get the job done…
You’re right on the description of it.
First vid, he’s doing the jab-sweep OS. He’s does jab sweep~jab. If the jab is blocked or lands and he’ll combo the 2nd jab, the sweep won’t execute, if the jab whiffs, the sweep will execute.
Second vid is a safe jump OS using pretty much the same idea as above. If the jump in is blocked, nothing extra. If they reversal, Guy will be able to block before their reversal attempt. If they backdash, the sweep will execute. j.HP~sweep. DON’T TRY THIS ON SHOTOS, SRK WILL BEAT IT.
Sorry if my explanation sucks though, this might explain it better:
His option select looks pretty awesome!
Looks like you like your ultra on reaction (round 1) so much you had to post it somewhere on these forums
I don’t get the point of your vid: you’re using c.rh and some other punches and Guy is doing random hozanto’s and flip kicks. Not a single link in this vid.
Meh…
that is some… BULLSHIT. guy definitely feels like he was thrown into the game rather quickly. every time i miss a fierce on a cr. opponent as a part of his target combo… i can’t help but give a what the fuck? on crouching cody fierce just doesn’t want to hit him. because if you crossup, do 1 cr. jab, target combo… the fierce whiffs. so i tried to do cr. jab, cl. st. fierce after a crossup. it STILL whiffs. i thought it’d be a nice alternate combo that i could use on cody because it was an easy link and actually does more damage than cr. jab, target combo. despite guy being DIRECTLY next to him… it just whiffs. it’s ass.
guy’s combos and such feel very “character specific,” but now i don’t feel it’s so much character specific as much as we didn’t test him enough or didn’t care to fix things.
i really hope things like that will be fixed with an update. because that combo into throw nonsense… is just utterly stupid.
Ya I wonder who the fuck was testing Guy !!! Do they still have a job ?

agreed. Testers didn’t do their job against Guy.
His hitboxes are odd. Some combos that work don’t work on him and vice versa.
This may effect his position in this game.
“Profound sadness” describes my impression of Guy’s transition to this game.
Why is his jump so floaty?
Nice guy. I like the way you used neutral jump and go straight into album. Stuffed out a few attacks and created some nice block strings.
these videos of the crouching throws make me think guy is looking like hes gonna to be for casual play only…
Really sucks too b/c he is really fun to use. Were not even two weeks in and there are glitches/ developmental oversights like this? This doesn’t look too good for his future:confused:
You guys are quitting over just that? Profound sadness…
I think ppl should shrug off a patch that will balance these issues because it seems extremely unlikely, i guess were just going to have to deal with gimped hitboxes, and an less tested character… sigh. Hopefully someone finds glitches in our favor…
