That’s pretty whack, because everything looks correct.
I double-checked the port-forwarding guide for your router model, and I don’t see anything wrong with the way you followed the steps.
Didn’t you say you figured out how to host games with your router (by opening 27886 UDP)? That’s the part I don’t understand. I don’t get why that would work but this one wouldn’t. There isn’t any other firewall blocking the Damdai program, or there isn’t some weird limit with your router on the number of forwarded stuff you can have active, is there? Just grasping at straws here…
yeah i can host games, i don’t think my game ever shows up in the waiting games list though. and occasionally my hosted games won’t work either (when I can’t get my whatismyip button to work, I can’t host). Oh well.
Here goes another shot in the dark…
Look around your AntiVirus or Windows firewall.
Recently, someone on efnet walked me through on what to do and now I can host games on P2P and have GGPO work a lot more often. I was putting in the wrong IP address the whole time.
Whoever that helped me, thank you again very much!
OK here goes one more tip.
For all of you using Norton Anti Virus, it has an extra firewall in it so you have to look around in it and set it to always allow the application. Yesterday I got one more person up and hosting an this was the problem. I’ll add it to the first post later. ( to lazy just woke up )
That must have been me. I am not port fwding specialist but i have read so much in the past few days. Anyoen have any questons about forwarding on their linksys router pm me.
Yep it was you. I know one person that if I remeber correctly has a linksys and was having trouble so I’ma tell him to get at you so you can help someone in return.
Guys I know this is a silly question, but is a router absolutely necessary for playing online? I don’t have one. I connect straight to the net using a Sprint PCMCIA wireless broadband card for my laptop. I can surf the net and play Team Fortress. Do I still need to go out and buy a router for Kaillera/GGPO?
Exactly the contrary. I’m sure there are a few people that would love to smash the shit outta there routers so they could host games.
The only thing that you mentioned that might hinder you is wireless.
It usually makes for an unstable connection, but there have been a couple exceptions to this so we wont know till you try.
Hey guys I can’t seem to get my port forwarding to work I’ve checked the portforward.com website and did everything it said. I’ve got a Thomson ST546 v6. I have some pics, and I think I did everything right but it’s still not working. Would appreciate if you just take a look and let me know if I’m doing something wrong, thanks.
Anyways, would appreciate any help with this and sorry I’m a complete n00b when it comes to this stuff.
Thanks. Trickz-
Did you look around for a firewall blocking you ?
There’s no way to open closed ports on a municipal network is there? Like my city’s free internet?
I’ve got everything set up on my router at home and it all works great, but I’m hardly ever home with school and work so I’d love to get some games in on ggpo when I’m at work and bored.
Is there no way to get around portforwarding? Software? Anything?
whats the name for kaillera p2p client
i have to insert a name and open port 27886 on my router… model wrt310n
i did those but it’s still not working help!!
Hi,
I know this has been done to death and asked a million times, but I need help with hosting (on 2DFighter). Ok, here’s the all IMPORTANT info:
I use Windows Vista, and the emulator runs fine, etc (just hosting issues lol)
I connect through a router and have the option of either wireless or wired.
the router is a Belkin F5D7234-4 v3.
I run Norton Protection Centre/Anti-Virus/Internet Security.
I’ve gone into the Router page, into Virtual Servers under Firewall, and set up 2DFighter on Port 27886 and UDP.
I’ve gone into Norton Internet Security and changed the settings for 2DFighter, and made sure it accepts in/out bound connections to and from other computers, selecting again Port 27886.
Now, whenever I log into 2DFighter, I click the Host Test button and it tells me “Congrats… etc, you can host”, and ONLY SOMETIMES can I play people who cannot host. Most of the time, I’ll challenge my good friend who lives in the same country as me (UK) and half the time it won’t work, only sometimes does it work. (Edit) I forgotten to mention that when it doesn’t work, the emulator screen comes on (white, with the logo), and there is a message in the corner saying 'Waiting for Player 1/2" and it just stays there and nothing happens.
I constantly check my IP address, to make sure it is the same (it is not a static IP address, I don’t know if that matters, but surely if I check each time what it is, and make sure the port is open to the same one it shouldn’t matter, should it). Someone mentioned that because we share the connection (with my family), that there in lies the problem. I’ve gone to PortForwarding.Com and tried so many different things. Why is it that I can use Steam to play Multiplayer games no problem, but an emulator, loads of problems (that’s me being cynical).
Also noticed this error when I try to play someone sometimes, and the Splash white screen just appears, I click on Test Host button, and this error comes up:
"Unhandled exception has occured in your application. If you click Continue, the application will ignore this error and attempt to continue. If you click Quit, the application will close immediately.
Only one usage of each socket address (protocol/network/port) is normally permitted."
WTF else is using Port 27886? This is ridiculous. It doesn’t make any sense. I’ve done everything I can think of. And even turning off Norton dsoesn’t change anything.
if anyone has any suggestions, or can help, I would really appreciate it, my Gamepad is just sitting there, not being used!!!
Thanks in advance,
Lewis
