if all else fails after checking a second time, it’s possible that your isp or (more likely) aparment/condo have blocked a port altogether; look on the isp’s site, maybe call them about the ports you want, and (if you live in an apartment that makes the choice of isp for you) ask your landlord who you should be directing your questions about this to
Firewall ?
Of those two ports you have open, is one of them 27886 udp ?
Turn of the firwall in windows to start and come back and post teh results and we’ll look fo the answer. Open netplay like normaly and open the options tab and change the port number listed in there to the port that you have open in your router if it is not the 27886 one.
Let me know what happens.444
Yeah, I did all that and it’s still not working. I dunno.
what do i do now?
problem: ive added app nfba on winxp’s network properties added port 27886 or whatever the # is… but when i host… it dont show on waitin game list… i open nfba and host a game… then i open mame kaillera simultaneously… and it shows on waitin game list… yet when i ask people on irc… or whatever for p2p… they dont see it…
ive followed the steps here but… im stuck here…

Ok like I said in post number one I’m no expert but I’ll make an attempt here. First it looks like You are in the right place so thats a good start. First thing you wanna do is switch teh protocol drop box to udp.
Next you want to put in the ip port range to be 27886 to 27886 and try doing just that without putting in an ip address. If it doesn’t allow you to continue without an ip then get your ip from the portforward.com link in post number 1. Just click teh link and it will be at teh bottom of the page as your external ip address.
If that doesn’t work try putting in a range of 10 above 27886 and 10 below 27886
So the range would be 27876 to 27896 and try without teh ip and if it doesn’t work then with teh ip.
You save with teh add button. Your going to work with the first line btw where teh drop box is.
Doom why don’t you shoot us a screen shot and let teh community try to walk you through teh proccess of opening your ports ?
Not sure if you meant you already tried this, but did you try some other,
randomly different port than 27886? Forward a different port and tell
NFBA to use this different port? 'Cause occasionally, certain numbers
don’t work for whatever reason.
If I’m not mistaken (which is rare), I think you can do the following…
–Put 27886 to 27886 in IP Port Range.
–Change protocol next to it from TCP to UDP (which is what P2P uses).
–For IP address, you need your local IP. WinXP Start menu --> run -->
type command and press OK --> type “ipconfig” in the black window
and press enter --> under IP Address, it should show something like
192.168.X.X --> Copy those 4 sets of numbers w/the periods down -->
type “exit” in the black box to end it --> put the set of numbers in the
blank “IP Address” box field of your router setup.
Edit: Oops, you posted right before I did. Did you make sure to
put your local IP in that field and not your global (WAN) IP?
yeah it works now… but i still gotta try to host and see if people can actually see it now… ill let you know if it works or not
ok just hosted… no one seems to see it in ‘waiting games’ lounge…
Sorry for being retarded with this question but I have to ask it…
Did you click the enlist in waiting games list ?
yup always click that… all the time…
are you on now ?
I’m getting this too but with a random 50xxx port number despite setting 27886 for hosting and using the Force Port option.
Btw the issue is not isolated to Vista because I’m on XP.
Hi,
I’m trying to set up port forwarding using this guide for my router.
http://portforward.com/english/routers/port_forwarding/Dlink/DI-524/Xbox_Live_360.htm
What should I put in the name section? (in the example it says xboxlive3601), I’m trying to set this up with nFBA? Does it matter what I put here?
The protocol type is UDP and in both sections that say port I put 27886?
Thanks
If I’m not mistaken, you can put whatever you want in the name section, because it’s just there as a label for your own reference later on. So I dunno, maybe “KailleraP2P” or something would be appropriate.
Yeah. In their example, they’re forwarding two different ports, but you only need to forward a single one, 27886. You can punch that number into both the private and the public port fields. (At least I think that’s how it’s done on your router…)
Also, I don’t know how well it’s gonna work on your wireless router, but you may as well try it, right?
Almost had it, got all the way through the process, setting a static IP and entering the info into my router, but when I hit apply it says “Invalid IP address” is this referring the IP address I put into my static IP? ack I’m confused, can anyone help?
can this be done the same way for linux users
I’m not to familiar with the whole static IP
thing but If it’s diffrente from your machines address try putting in both. First get your external IP from here. It will be at teh bottom of teh page listed. If that don’t work then use the Static IP that you have. If not then IDK if the ip you get from using the cmd promt methode from post number one gives you a diffrent number so try those three things first.
Do you mean online play or teh ports part because I think emu’s and other than Windows OS’s are pretty much enemies from my past experiences with a buddy.
Raisin can you write a post explaining the whole Static IP thing and I’ll add it to post number one with the proper credit of course ?
Yeah, it’s asking for your local IP address, which I think is the same thing you should’ve used to set up your static IP. It’s not the external (global/WAN) IP that djfrijoles talked about on the portforward main page.
Again, to find your local IP on WinXP:
Start menu --> Run --> type “command” --> black box opens up --> type “ipconfig” --> note your [local] IP address, which should be something like 192.168.1.X --> type “exit” to close the black box.
Back in your router settings, punch that local IP number (192.168.1.X or whatever it was) in the field that says Private IP. Hopefully that fixes it.
Haha, I would, but I actually don’t really know anything about them either. I mean, apart from the stuff on portforward.com. Sorry.
I meant the port thing. I wanna pla mame on linux online.
