The two aren’t even comparable. On one side you have 1 police officer dead and 4 people dead on side of the attackers. On the other side you have 2 billions dollars in damage and over 25 people dead.
So you’re saying that the symbolic act of storming the capitol is worse than billions of dollars in damage and 25 people dead?

Yes, anyone with a brain can tell that an attempt at literally toppling the democratic institutions of the country is far worse than sustained civil unrest caused by racial and police issues.

By hanging the vice president and killing as many parliamentarians as possible, throwing the transfer of power completely into chaos and giving a fairly legitimate reason to call for martial law?

So it’s a consensus now that all of these people were trying to kill as many politicians as possible, they were all heavily armed with military style weapons ready to kill as many people as possible. Yes that’s very compatible with reality and what really happened that day.

I think one of the officers there said to have heard someone among the rioters say about the downed police guy “shoot him with his own gun”.
Maybe that was symbolic too?

Once they demonstrated to be dangerous and to be trying to attack the heart of democratic institutions? I absolutely believe that shooting would have been appropriate.
Cops would have done it too if they weren’t so outnumbered because so few of them were conveniently available at the time.

This is why a number of these assclowns are catching charges. I appreciate the “open mind” element, but this has been documented in several places that some of these people were out for blood.
