…this it?
Close enough.
Assuming we had an issue, I’d still leave it up to the individual states so that any concerted effort to undermine the election would have to consider 50 different individualized approaches.
We already have a bipartisan Federal Election Commission in charge of election integrity, and as good or bad as that is, it’s a far sight more above board than Rand trying to make back room deals with state and local politicians.
If Rand actually had anything useful to contribute to election integrity, he’d be launching it as a bill in the Senate.
Creative edit.
If he wanted to do something useful how about pitching term limits for house and senate?
“If I don’t say dumb thing that sounds smart to my dumb followers, how will I make money?”
I’m pretty certain that grifters like Charlie Kirk are sweating a little that Trump lost and was also banned from social media because Trump also parroted narratives that made Kirk money. Fuck that tiny faced man. lmao
As if both parties don’t put themselves over the voters and country. Political parties are like unions who do bad things that guarantee their usefulness and existence. Most Republican voters are Trumpers now, and that leaves establishment Republicans to either turn their back on other establishment pols who are anti-trump, or turn their back on voters that will probably vote them out of office.
That article you posted is exactly what I’m talking about. 74 million people voted for Trump this time around and those people aren’t going to just disappear now that Trump lost and the election is over.
Cruz seems to think he’s heir apparent to the Trumpets with his paris climate comments.
What Rand Paul and other Republicans on this election security BS are really interested in is suppressing the vote as much as possible
Republicans always lose in high turnout, and they realize the fractured base they have won’t hold power again unless there are rule changes
The FEC didn’t stop people from calling the 2016 election fraudulent because they didn’t like the results. 🤷 And usually bills require some amount of research, it’s possible he’s gearing up, but chances are you right that its just theatre. Even so, 4 years ago I’d put money on that people would be cheering something like this so I don’t believe for a second anyone is that upset and cares about election integrity, they just don’t like that a Republican is the one saying it.
Supression how?
Pfft bullshit. Her own party hates her.
She’d be sent to the shadow realm with a quickness.
By placing as many obstacles as possible in the way.
Less drop boxes. Shorter windows for accepting mail in votes. More “verification steps” that give reasons to disqualify. IDs that will require longer delays in registration.
And that’s just the politicians. The base wants shit like only land owners. Only tax payers. Etc.
It’s always things that will disproportionately affect poor people and without a doubt lead to lower turnout. And that’s not coincidence.
Pelosi capitulated on impeachment the first time at the behest of people like her, and if the public was visibly for it like they were impeachment, she’d capitulate again. I don’t buy it.
Voting is a right. It should be as easy as possible for people to vote, but as pointed out already, many Republican politicians don’t like people actually voting because it makes it harder for the party to win. You would think the politicians that pound their chest about loving freedom, democracy, the constitution, and America so much would be all about making voting easier, not difficult at all. Instead, they do their best to suppress votes as much as they can. Maybe they should actually try running on real policies instead.
You need an ID to get a job or benefits of any kind, so who in this day and age doesn’t have some form of ID? Verification I get, but the less drop boxes/shorter windows stuff sounds like gripes of people who don’t care about voting that badly if those are complaints. If you want to do it and it’s important, those are pretty small obstacles. 🤷
Pelosi hates Trump and would’ve pushed for impeachment per her own prerogative or at the behest of anyone who would’ve pushed it.
Pelosi also hates AOC and the rest of the liberal Dems. Let’s not act like she’d play nice if it didn’t suit her interest.
If they were to make it easy as possible, we’d be able to vote by smart phone, which, considering that everything else these days can be done via phone, I’m surprised they haven’t tried t make that happen.
I don’t believe most people really care about policies though, which is why parties bring up abortion, gun rights, etc because those are what people REALLY vote for.
Pelosi said publicly she didn’t think impeachment was a good course of action and stuck to that until the noise got loud enough that she couldn’t ignore it if she wanted to keep her job.
How can you say this when Trump administration was actively trying to reduce voting locations, poll boxes and various other bullshit to stop people from voting? Even tried to screw over UPS just to hamper mail in voting.
We have one side of the government constantly trying to hinder the voting process.
It’s not just ID, it’s a separate voter ID.
I don’t know if it’s the psychology of poor people or lack of key acquisition of life skills, but a common trait of being poor is being disorganized and having poor time management.
The more steps you put in the way and the harder you make something to do, the less likely people on the lower end of the social class are to follow thru on it.
