Interesting, but I don’t think that’s a reason to ban crypto (and keep in mind here, I’m not an owner of crypto, I just don’t like government banning stuff because undesirables make use of it.) It’s not screwing over the gaming industry in any way that I can see, just the consumer.

And yes it’s ABSOLUTELY your job to prove that Rand Paul is a Klansman because you’re the one who made the claim. So where’s your proof? Either prove it or admit you’re just talking out your ass and that you just don’t like him because he’s a white republican and you don’t really know anything about him or care to.

Biden Administration Pauses Federal Permitting for Oil, Gas

The Biden Department of Interior has paused oil and gas leasing and permitting on federal lands for 60 days as part of an effort to review the program’s policy ramifications, according to an agency memo obtained by Reuters.

The move comes after a newly-sworn-in Biden signed executive orders aimed at combating climate change, including placing the U.S. back into the Paris accord and pausing oil leasing in the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge.

Additionally, Biden has canceled the highly lucrative Keystone XL pipeline and ordered agencies to review over 100 other environment directives by the Trump administration.

The 1,700-mile (2,735-kilometer) pipeline was planned to carry roughly 800,000 barrels of oil a day from Alberta to the Texas Gulf Coast, passing through Montana, South Dakota, Nebraska, Kansas and Oklahoma.

“The Permit is hereby revoked,” Biden’s executive order says. “Leaving the Keystone XL pipeline permit in place would not be consistent with my Administration’s economic and climate imperatives.”

Keystone XL President Richard Prior said over 1,000 jobs, the majority unionized, will be eliminated in the coming weeks. “We will begin a safe and orderly shut-down of construction,” he said.

The Associated Press contributed to this report.

These cryptocurrencies things are complicated: on one hand I’ve heard that these cryptocurrencies have been promoted as something that would allow a more independent internet and less dependence on credit card companies (that can wield considerable power, looking at that whole Pornhub thing) and that I can like in theory.

On the other hand that stuff is definitely being used and abused by shady people to do shady or extremely illegal things, and that can include terrorists looking to finance themselves and after the stuff that happened on the 6th I’m not surprised if the Biden administration wants to take at least an inquisitory stance on that stuff.

Didn’t say outright ban crypto…(not going to cry over it if does happen), but for it to be regulated.

The whole point of crypto is that it isn’t regulated by government entities just like the whole point of end-to-end encryption is that nobody but the people communicating are privy to what’s being said. Crypto is largely traceable as I’ve already posted an article that shows how.

So someone you don’t like because they’re white and a republican makes them a klansman… Maybe this is you? :

BTW Andrew Cuomo said we should reopen the economy, is he a klansman too? Imagine believing that thinking someone should be able to work to pay their bills rather than the government spending their grandchildren into financial slavery makes them a “klansman.” Jfc.

Government should also learn how to budget better. Cutting taxes with no way to gain revenue is not a great strategy.

How is it that so many other countries have effectively are practically back to normal with this current administration performing the COVID rematch?

110% agree. We, the public, are the ones who have to “tighten our belts” when THEY spend OUR money recklessly and because they can simply print for of it when there isn’t enough. I’m not against paying taxes but seeing how they’re wasted makes me really want to try to pay as little as humanly possible if I can.

As for the second part, it’s different for every country though. There is no real 1:1 response to a pandemic unless it’s a Ryu vs Ryu matchup (countries with similar government styles, population figures, etc), but things are starting come out including a peer reviewed study they did at Stanford that shows that the lockdowns cost more than they helped. I think our governments have used the pandemic to their advantage in a lot of ways the governments in other countries haven’t, though and that’s probably a reason why also.

If mother fuckers would have just worn masks and washed their fucking hands early on, lockdowns wouldn’t be needed.

But Trump and his knuckle draggers decided to duel flat earthers.

That’s the difference between us and other countries.

The principles of a medical doctor who went around Capitol Hill without PPE after a known CoVid exposure while still waiting on test results, which ended up being positive.

Pepperidge Farm remembers. Stand up guy, that Rand. About as useful to effective government as his namesake Ayn.

Oh and other countries had no problem paying their citizens to get them through the pandemic.

We got 1200$, 600$ for kids while 1% and big business got the most ridiculous tax cuts. Trump and co. signed blank checks and made measures so the public couldn’t even see where the money went.

Remember all this when we wonder why the US is still getting bodied by CoVid and others aren’t.

I agree with this take. This is why Americans need to get a better understanding of what government does.

I agree. However in most of those places, the issue wasn’t politicized. I am certain that while they may have cost a lot, the research will likely state the contributing factors behind it point to public perception and the way the were implemented.

I don’t think you can make the case that it was all Trumpers and that lockdowns have worked when LA county, which is definitely not Trump land, has more cases and deaths than pretty much anywhere.
