The Political Thread 2021

I was showing that its not true for all demographics, and such a statement has to be true in a universal manner. You could go back to previous elections and find instances where educated whites voted Republican.

But now we’re getting into another territorry with high earning white collar workers, it would be an intersting debate. Im at work and on mobile.

The whole point of why I brought this up was solely based on the red/blue maps of the country.

The blue areas are where the high paying jobs are and the higher cost of living are. And usually that is where a lot of smart people who know how to make a high salary are living. They are denser locations full of people making a lot more money than most of the red areas on those maps.

And Silicon Valley falls into that category. It’s a lot of smart people making a lot of money living in high cost of living areas.

I’m no saying EVERYONE in those areas lean left, but the majority do, hence they are blue.

I’m also not saying EVERYONE in those red areas aren’t making a lot of money or aren’t smart people.

Not disagreeing.

Just pointing out there there are some well connected grifters enjoying those regions and salaries as well. :stuck_out_tongue:

Miria isn’t exactly wrong here. There was a time in society when it was okay to burn people at the stake, duel people to the death, beat the shit out of your wife, or perform human sacrifices, to name a few. Although a bit of an extreme example by today’s standards, we have to remember that what is or isn’t okay is judged by society at large. It wasn’t too long ago that blatant racism was okay in popular media or advertisements. If fascism or blatant racism was deemed okay by society at large, then corporations would be all about making money off of fascism or racism. It’s pretty rare to see companies go against the grain, like Chik-fil-A once donating to organizations that are against LGBT causes.

Wait… What? Purebeast said that people with degrees tend to vote blue. You said white men with degrees tended to vote Trump in 2016. In both 2016 and 2020, people with degrees tended to vote for the democrat, this is backed up by exit polls.

In 2020, white women with degrees (51%) voted democrat, and the white male with degrees had their vote split.

Let’s do a hypothetical. Let’s say 60% of white men with degrees voted for trump, and 60% of people with degrees overall voted for biden, then you can still say that if you have a college degree, you are more likely to vote democrat.

Purebeast is right, a person with a college degree is more likely to vote democrat. He’s not wrong in saying that. If he said “white dudes that went to college” then you can well actually him.

Am I missing something? And why are you asking people to explain why white college dudes leaned towards trump in 2016? No one here is the head of the “White Guys Who Graduated College” club. I don’t need to speak on their behalf, and considering I’m not in that group, I can’t :woman_shrugging:

Snapchat Permanently Bans President Donald Trump

The popular timed photo-sharing app Snapchat has reportedly permanently banned President Trump’s account on the platform.

Snapchat, the popular messaging app that allows users to send time-limited photos and videos, has announced that it has permanently locked President Trump’s account on the platform. President Trump has now been banned from Snapchat, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube, Pinterest, and Shopify.

Although Trump was not an avid user of Snapchat, the app gave the Trump campaign an effective platform to target younger users. A Snap spokesperson told TechCrunch:

Last week we announced an indefinite suspension of President Trump’s Snapchat account, and have been assessing what long term action is in the best interest of our Snapchat community. In the interest of public safety, and based on his attempts to spread misinformation, hate speech, and incite violence, which are clear violations of our guidelines, we have made the decision to permanently terminate his account.

Hell he’s partially the reason I even followed the 2016 election cycle and the clownfiesta that was DNC debates dating from summer of 2019, up 'till this day

I guess there will still be plenty of dumb shit happening over the course of next couple of years (plus the mid-term elections at the end of '22), as is standard for any political landscape that isn’t a straight up dictatorship, but it won’t be anywhere near as fun with neverending Trump shitposts and media freakouts over said shitposts

All that’s left to see is what kind of boogeyman will the left use until next presidential elections in 2024 since Donnie is gone, and if either party can muster an opposition strong enough to continue its run next time.

Will Biden step down? Will he try to go for a second term? If not, can Kamala win the hearts of enough Americans to ensure DNC stays in power?
Who’s the next candidate from Republicans? Can they push out a person with enough charisma to rally 70+ millions of people? Is there going to be a good turnout from the Red corner at all?

There is more at play here than education, minorities are never going to vote Republican no matter what. 90% of blacks vote Democrats, 70% of hispanics vote Democrat, 70% of Asians vote Democrat. They are never going to vote in majority for the Republican party even the ones who are uneducated.

Lets not get too stupid.

We never thought Trump would be POTUS, yet we are here.

The twitter thread looks like it was more of a joke at Trump’s expenses rather than any serious suggestion. The “and replace him with 40-years old Macaulay Culkin” kinda gave it away.

More at play than education, meaning if minorities dont want to vote for the Republican because they sense that they are racists and bigoted, than they are not voting for that party no matter what.

Uh, yes he still does. He literally released a video message yesterday. And I would argue his twitter rants were not a method of “directly communicating with people”. He never replies to others, at best just retweets shit with snarky comments. Quite honestly it’s for the better he doesn’t have a social media access 24/7, partially because it probably makes him pissed off

The irony though is deplatforming AJ probably helped him more than it did harm. Mostly because through announcements/news reports of said deplatformings regular people learned about the dude’s name in the first place. It’s like these companies never heard of the Streisand effect.

Same with Gootecks’ recent PogChamp removal thing - 99% of Twitch’s audience never even heard or knew who the fuck Gootecks was. Then suddenly comes out Twitch to ride the news hype wave about the Capitol storm, directly names him in their announcements of emote being snapped, and suddenly thousands of users across the globe are googling the name “gootecks” only to find out a broken man who went off the deep end with all the cospiracy/hoax/anti-corona stuff.
Same with 5G misleading information that it causes cancer and whatnot. Same with the ongoing purge of Republican personas.

It’s a little bit sad though because I remember watching Infowars’ coverage of the election night live as it unfolded, shit was fun (if you count out the ridiculous intermission videos like one of their reporters doing a live report from NYC and suddenly nukes drop from the skies because of Hillary or something)

This is a concern of branding then. Change your brand, change the demographic.

If Trump wants to speak there’s a room dedicated just for meetings with the press in the White House. He usually sends one of his blonde chicks to handle though.

No, you were trying to say that purbeast saying that the majority of degree holders vote democrat was wrong because white male degree holders don’t fall into that trend.

Bottom line- the majority of degree holding people that voted in 2016 and 2020 voted democrat. Purbeast wasn’t wrong. The numbers support his statement, just like how they support you saying white educated men leaned Trump in 2016.

And if we want to bring it down just to white people, then in 2020 exit polls show that white educated people leaned blue.
51% of women and 50% of men.

Why is it that so many people who go down this route continuously spout stuff like this dealing with children?

That was my point since the beggining, im sorry if I wasn’t clear. You could go back to previous elections and find that on many occasions or in my opinion for the majority of elections, examples of educated whites who voted in majority for the Republican party.
