I read all of these posts and I must say I agree with the fact that UP is pure SHYT. Chuckie cheese brings in more games and money than that bastard arcade. In fact, most people would prob have a better time going retro with chuckie cheese and sliding through the tubes!:arazz:
Another thing, CONSLE is everything now. All of those games are on consle and there’s like no reason to play in a arcade anymore. Besides that arcana heart game or w/e it’s called. Other than that… you can just get together and all go over each others house. PLAIN AND SIMPLE!
Why you think none of us go to UP anymore? Well, that and many other reasons.
I don’t go to UP because I play 3S and GG…neither of which they have. If anyone is down for either game at my place (20-30 mins North of Philly), hit me up with a PM.
U R absolutely right D. Hyo! Arcades are dead! UP just does not take the arcade scene seriously! I mean Cally is serious but over here, ugh! Even NYC gets a little serious every now and then when they bring out a new fighter that hasn’t even made it 2 these shores yet, but Philly! I mean, I can understand lovin’ MvC2, but when an I’m forced 2 like a game because that’s what they think is the only comp offering and decide 2 put 5 cabinets up for it, when there’s plenty of worthy fighters 2 put in, along with MvC2, then I’m just done! I havent been to CF yet but I still plan on visiting up NYC and see how it is. UP is pretty dead right now… It used to be jumpin 2 years ago now it’s Marvel city.

too bad UP sucks… worse game selection… the only game they keep updates of as far as fighters is Tekken(which is good for me, but bad for the community cuse don’t give other games a try) as far as games on console… they could’ve easily had GGXX AC for what 6months… if they did that there would peeps problay still rolling around considering there is hidden talent in that game (gg)…MBAC is still arcade until july and even then it’s hard to run tournies for that game… all im saying they could at least try sumthing else instead "hey let’s throw in Fast and the furious… and 5 muthafucking MVC2 machines… i know philly loves marvel… but wtf man…2 of those could’ve went for like 3s or another newer fighter…
Hmmmmm, I seem to have lost my fellow supporters of UP. Anyway, I agree with yall when u say UP should have more of a selection, hell Rumble Fish2 was the only game I probably had a chance of winning in a tourny (back when it came out), but the only reason I like UP is because unlike D.Hyo I don’t know all the cats that are good in marvel, matter of fact my friends pretty much suck in marvel… Dyo I’m looking at u, so in order to play people that are better than or equal to me I have to hope that the odd marvel afficianado comes in. That’s the only reason I go to UP. If they had other fighting games I was interested in I would go for them as well. I do agree with y’all on the fact that five marvels really is overkill, and frankly (from a business perspecitve) counter-productive. You NEVER will say all five machines occupied (by two people at least). They should take out a MVC and put in… anything but another FandtheF or TimeCrisis.
Hey UP is a lot better than Chuckie Cheeses, just cuz y’all (Except d.hyo) don’t play marvel doesn’t mean its community is not appreciative for a place to play. But admittedly I will say if they took out the marvels, I would never even think of that place again, so don’t think I have love for the arcade.
If you want pizza and dancing mice head on over to Allegros then come back to UP for some games… see sorta like Chuckie Cheeses.
to tell you the truth the only reason I like that they have so many marvels is because if one breaks down then we slide down to another
If you really love this arcade, then you should honestly get the OWNER and his son to read this thread. The staff (besides little Eric) is shyt when it comes to caring about the arcade. Trust me I know what goes on behind the scenes.
i mean sorry… i don’t like the fact in order to play any fg in you play pretty much your choices on one side is SC3AE, Mvc2, Tekken 5 DR, Mvc2, and MVc2 (that’s one side… the other side gives you choice of CVS2, Mvc2, Tekken 5.1, SVC chaos, MVC2 (wth) … im surprise that even the locals or the peeps that go there everyday aren’t shocked by this…but then again what do they know? i mean yes it’s poppin in MVC2 and tekken 5 DR (tournies run sundays each month so it’s poppin)… i swear this place we go looked at better and peeps from other (for example DE) would come down there… yea i know Demon hyo too… but im sure as hell he wouldn’t want to force me into MVC2 kinda like i wouldn’t force him into tekken…cuse we suck at each others games…lol… and little E is the only really i trust about… i mean he can only do so much…
Concerning D-Hyo’s question of GGXX AC, I don’t get to buy any new games, that’s why I hold onto marvel for dear life so no I’m not playing. On a side note I have been playing a lot of Star Craft as of late. I’d really like to get together with y’alls outside the arcade sometime so I could play these games you’re talking about.

Any old-school heads from Philly in this thread? When I say old-school, I mean OLD-SCHOOL. I’m talk’in 91-92’. At both arcades that used to be on Chestnut Street. I used to play there when WW and CE was out and it would be cool to catch up with some old fools from back then.:wgrin:
Me neither, but I was there from '95-'99, although I think the Gamerary was the spot 'cause both of those arcades turned into Gamezone like places sometime 'round '99, if I’m not mistaken!
To Pesky, I’m definitely goin’ and u know I’ll probably only participate in KOF, LOL, and maybe some 3S, although I’m rusty in both, but definitely KOF!
