The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game/Software/Hardware talk

Killing Floor is only $4 on this daily deal.

Do not miss up on it.

Well this settles it. I was greatly considering the 2gb version but throwing in watchdogs on top of that is a bit too good to pass up on.

I could just swap with my gf’s 560 ti and upgrade her gpu, then give that to my bro as a hand me down. It’ll cost me more but its win-win.

Thanks guys. I’m still in the market for a PSU that happens to be discounted that can handle that gpu btw

^ 600W PSU.

730W PSU for the same price.

Think you should probably get a little bit more than 600w

I need to upgrade the rest of my computer before I go for a new card. Inherited a 660 Ti from my cousin when he upgraded his whole unit, but the rest of my computer isn’t QUITE up to that standard yet. Good lookin out for them deals tho.

Stupid question incoming: How do I put downloaded skins on my character in Garry’s Mod? Tired of the old scientist dude getting bodied.

hold down q or e in game and you’ll bring up the model selection or whatever/.

Thanks man.

EDIT: I can get the models to come up and stuff but I don’t see an option to use it, just re-size and render and stuff. Q brings up a ton. I’ll see if Google helps.

EDIT EDIT: Anyone want to run through the Far Cry 3 Co-op stuff sometime? Well as long as it holds out, Far Cry likes to crash on me from time to time, usually after I haven’t saved in a while.

Sigh

Save for a couple days, those two weeks of daily Humble Bundles were pretty “meh.” The newest bundle puts it back on track a bit.

Pay what you want for:
Symphony
Draw a Stickman: Epic
Galcon Legends

Pay the average for:
Metal Slug 3 (DRM-free version available later)
Skulls of the Shogun
Fieldrunners 2
Breach & Clear
Additional games to be added later

Worth it just for Metal Slug, imo.

So you need 3GB of GPU memory before you even have the option to turn texture detail up to “ultra” in Watch Dogs.

Pretty nuts. The game is by far the best looking open-world game next to Sleeping Dogs on PC. GTAIV/V don’t come close in raw detail.

How difficult is building your own PC? Are there little steps that one might not realize/aren’t told to do or is it really as simple as they say? For some background, I’ve done some light work on my laptop like reapplying the thermal paste on the CPU & GPU, taking apart the fan assembly for cleaning, etc. I can also usually figure out how to do things after watching a video, such as, taking apart the back of a dryer, replacing sinks, and other odd jobs.

Also, while I’d love to build my own, if it takes awhile to do, I might have to buy a desktop from a custom shop. My budget for both a desktop and monitor is about $2500-3000. I’m looking for a very quiet desktop. From the custom makers, I’ve been looking at Digital Storm’s Slade with a gtx 780 or titan. If you guys have any recommendations on a parts list, that’d be great.

You can build a PC. Yes, it’s as simple as they say.

With a 2.5-3K budget you can buy a top of the line rig. You could rock a Titan, an expensive, high-end i7 processor, 16-32GB of RAM, a beast motherboard that can fit multiple GPU’s, a sleek case, a 750W+ PSU & an SSD HDD.

If you have a flatscreen/monitor already you won’t need another. With that budget, just go & pick the most expensive PC parts piece by piece on Newegg(outside some of the more ridiculous, more expensive MOBO/processors.)

It’s easy and satisfying, also addictive and highly tedious once you get good at it.

If you’ve done anything inside a laptop, you’re 200% cut out for building a PC. Seriously, laptops scare the fuck outta me.

Check out that keychain in Wolfenstein: The New Order. If you’re cool, you know exactly what that keychain is. @thepurplebunny @blueleon

Q3A Rocket Lawnchair!!!

edit: for the record, I posted this before sonicabid included the stupid spoiler.

Sweet. Guess I’ll go pick out some parts.

@Manx For some reason, I actually like taking apart my laptop. Like I’ve taken out the wifi card, speakers, and other pieces just for the hell of it when reapplyed the thermal paste and installed an mSATA. Hopefully this carries over to PC building.

How far are you in Wolf? I just got to the part where you [details=Spoiler]bust out of the prison.[/details]

What do you think of the graphics? I think about 90% of the time it looks fucking amazing, 10% of the time they slacked on the textures. Overall though, it’s the best looking game I’ve played since Crysis 3 and Battlefield 4. The artstyle is amazing.

Shot in the dark: Sol Badguy’s weapon lol. That or a Quake Rocket Launcher. About all my guesses.

Man I want to play Wolfenstein, but my PC couldn’t handle it and I am poor currently. Soon though.

Whaa? All you need is a random-ass 1GB GDDR5 GPU and you’re good to go. Turn off that weird reflections options in advanced settings and you’ll be sitting at 60+ FPS.

What are your specs?

Not to good and I am having heat issues/crashes. I bought a new AMD card which ran fine for about an hour then the PC had problems with it. I need to replace the motherboard and practically everything since I am picky and want a beast machine.
