The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game/Software/Hardware talk

Yours is running well now? Lot of people having problems.

It was never running bad for me. Turn off ā€œambient occlusionā€ since I hear it’s a performance killer in this game, then turn down some of the other options to ā€œmedium.ā€

Game isn’t all that, imo. I’ll give it more of a chance later on, but it didn’t impress me at all. :shake:

I also think the fact that you need a 3GB GPU to even turn the texture detail up to ā€œultraā€ screams unoptimized.

The keychain looked like a lighter at first, haha. But upon closer inspection it was a minature Q3A Rocket launcher.

@ sonicabid:
Sorry dood, I don’t have the game. I simply can’t afford it.
You of all people would know how much I would love to play it, though.

edit: my gaming laptop should be able to run it with little trouble…

Slightly on topic, Matt’s review of Wolfenstein. I enjoyed it:

The best gpu on the market right now is 780ti, it’s better than a titan for gaming and much cheaper. Make sure you don’t bottleneck it though

http://youtube.com/watch?v=TGdo75gasaQ

780ti runs a bit faster than a Titan but a Titan has way, way more memory.

It’s a trade-off. http://gpuboss.com/gpus/GeForce-GTX-TITAN-vs-GeForce-GTX-780-Ti

^ Titan beats the 780ti in some areas too and vice-versa.

It all depends how you’d want to use that extra memory or not. When you start upping your resolution and flicking on all the bells and whistles of games, stuff that eats up GPU memory, it might be better to go with a Titan.

If you don’t give a shit about insanely high resolutions(talking 4K) and crazy-ass effects, go with a 780ti. Just remember Watch Dogs needs 3GB GPU memory MINIMUM to even run textures on ā€œUltraā€ which kind of says a lot for this upcoming wave of games. A Titan is looking to be better for the future.

I’m thinking the 780ti is better for now because it’s much cheaper and at the end of the year the 880 will be out. And this will be a significant jump in gpu power, it’s the next gen gpu

Is DDR4 coming this year or is it pushed to next year?

Edit: Looks like DDR4 isn’t coming until 2015 sometime.

You know when you get that itch to upgrade one part of your pc…yeah it turns into a full blown Epidemic.

Anyone in the market for a $3,000 video card?

Battlefield: Hardline trailer:

That’s lame to hear.
Also, it seems like there’s an update on the Steam Box status. Now, I know a lot of people are hating on the idea of even getting a Steam Box, since it’s possible to build your own damn PC, but ya’ know what, I’m excited and I may pick one up. Problem is, the info that came up recently was that we may not see anything till late 2014 or early 2015. Fuck.

Wolfenstein: The New Order has been pirated over 100,000 times already…

Spoiler

Here’s the thing about that, we have no idea how many of those poeple ended up buying it after or how many ever wanted to buy it in the first place. That’s why X has been pirated Y times articles are dumb.

I know this is pretty silly to ask in here but my gaming rig is a little low end what do I need to run it better? I kinda bought a computer out the store not really into building a PC from scratch I didnt have that kind of spare cash at the time. The games I CAN play and the games I CANT are weird.

Like I can run Leagues and Marvel Heroes and Skullgirls but not Injustice Gods Among Men. I can run Resident Evil 5 but Devil May Cry 4 is too much.

What do I need to get? It seems like things run very well the lower I run the settings.

No one knows what to tell you to get because you didn’t post your specs.

Your motherboard is probably outdated to a point where you can’t even put new parts in it for all we know. :shake:

Honestly, it’s almost impossible to say just by that description.

One way of getting us information we need to figure out some suggestions for you would be to download an application called CPU-Z (link here: http://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html).

You can maybe put up screen captures of the CPU, Mainboard, and Graphics tabs of the application. Or if it’s easier, just gives us the CPU name, mainboard model, and GPU model (from graphics tab). That way we can get a rough idea of the important components, and see what potential upgrades you have for your system.

Especially important is the motherboard model, as that will give us all of the info about what can actually be upgraded in your system. With just that one bit of info, we’ll be able to tell you what CPU upgrades you can do, what GPU/graphics card upgrades you can do, what RAM upgrades are available, etc.

Hope this helps (and isn’t too confusing/long-winded).

I know what you mean. I just ordered a 2TB hybrid to replace my mechanical and now I’m looking for other shit to upgrade.

I only upgrade bottlenecks.

Watch Dogs PR stunt goes wrong, bomb squad called in.

A reporter was sent a black box with instructions to check his or her voicemail. The reporter doesn’t use voicemail and proceeds to open the black box, which started to beep as a result.
The place was evacuated and a squad of police arrived to investigate. They forced open the box and it contained a copy of WatchDogs.

This is some shit that a 12 year old would think of. Huge fail.

Titan z is basically two titan in sli. Not worth it

I heard 880 will be out end of this year. I’m gonna be getting the 780ti anyway because it’ll be easier to sell that for an acceptable price once the 880 arrives

When you say ddr4 I think your thinking about the new ram coming out. Don’t know if the 880 will be using ddr4 when it could be using ddr5
