As far as Elder Scrolls games go, I find the opposite true. I’d rather absorb the random content than do the story quests. Who cares about saving Tamriel from destruction when I got all these flowers to pick!?

Yeah i
That’s good to hear. I’m the same way with open world/sandbox games, which is a major reason I was unsure about Witcher going open world.
I will say Witcher 3 has a slow start.
But not THAT slow. About 4 hours in, you may get taken in by the lore.
I wish I could finish games or I’d of got witcher 3
The main thing that put me off though is the generation dip in the graphics. It looked like a next gen wind waker originally so I’m quite confused how it looks like this now
It’s funny to see early access games looking amazing as fuck.
Dev stated something recently about the downgrade, saying how; because the game is so massive they had to downgrade. That’s true to an extend, but… not really. I’d like to justify their reason, but the way they have the engine set is to pre-load certain textures of the level before you can continue progressing. This is a type of method is normally used on console games, where the engine would delete a portion of it’s file, to make room for the next portion, and so on. This is why, at times when playing games on consoles, if you move too fast, you can see text pop ins or things just taking too long to load in (basically any game on Unreal 3 playing on console). This is something that’s rarely injected into PC, seeing the memory bank for even the weakest CPUs can store whatever content is necessary. And even though there’s so many different builds on what someone can do to their PC, it’s actually easier to optimize games on PC than it is on console.
So yeah… I dunno… they just be on dat damage control.
Granted, I feel like they actually reached their end goal in what they wanted in Witcher 3.
Still like the writing for Witcher 3. Early sidequest spoilers for the dialogue (not really related to the quest, more optional bg info):
[details=Spoiler]You meet a guy who says he’s been an outcast…he used to know this other guy (body found dead) 20 years ago before “the incident” happened and he had to leave town. He says the townspeople hate him because he’s a freak.
Geralt goes, “I’m a freak too.” Then there’s a pause and Geralt goes “Is it lycanthropy?”
“What.”
“Do you turn into a werewolf? It can be hard for people to deal with but it’s a simple curse, I could get rid of it in-”
“…I was found in a relationship with the lord of the land’s son.”
“OH OKAY BRO. SORRY.”
That’s not really how the conversation goes, but that’s how I remember it. Good way of showing how Geralt’s Witcher worldview taints his perception a bit, while still showing discrimination and stuff.[/details]
Installed Witcher 3. Ultra settings, no issues.
I just saw that all the DLC of DoA5 on Steam amounts to $260 USD
Who really needs that much fanservice?

Hairworks enabled? Frame rate?
There should be a day when this no longer exists in your nation:
Below is a list and summary of video games that have been Refused Classification (banned) within Australia. Originally, video games in Australia could only be rated up to MA15+. At the time, the R18+ classification rating could be given to film, but a video game with content deemed fitting for the R18+ rating would be 'Refused Classification' due to an appropriate classification not being available for the medium.
Marc Eckō’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure is banned in Australia?
That’s hilarious…

At least most of these games are unbanned now because of the R18+ rating but what still baffles me is that theres still censorship even with that rating and even then, there are still banned games (Hotline Miami 2)
Plus there’s other crap like the 10% online transaction fee and other nonsense. I do wish for that day but our government is dumb
Game is getting a patch with a lot of fixes, graphics are supposed to improve.
whats a good video card for about $200-300 for 4k gaming?
I have the fastest i7 cpu I could buy and 32gb ram and SS. but gpu isn’t that good I forgot which one but its not supposed to handle 4k gaming.
From interest, what games are you looking forward to play in 4K resolution? Any specific games…

No such thing in that price range unless you like to play games that run at ass crack frames per second.
The best you can get for ~300 bucks is a GTX 970 and that card is meant for 1080p. Pretty sure even that card can’t maintain 1080p/60FPS in the most recent games with everything on max settings/flicked on.
ok how’s like 400 then?
no particular game…maybe mgs5/mgo3 and whatever else is supposed to be good. just to have the setup I guess.

4K gaming isn’t realistic unless you want to spend 1-2 grand on SLI GTX 980’s or Titan X setups, and even then your experience is going to be variable.
^ Look @ that shit. Two 1 grand GPU’s SLI’d together can’t even maintain 60 FPS in GTAV.
In the next few years things should be different. All these new MOBOs/processors/DDR4 etc. should go down in price and a new line or two of GPU’s should hit.
I don’t like all the added BS some games have tho. was playing need for speed “max everything” and there was some dust particles and unnecessary crap I didn’t want. those made it look worse than default
either way this looks uh…not ready. might have to settle for generic-ass casual gaming.
There is a huge gap to 4k, and even top end cards can get bogged down at 1080p. 1440p is much more attainable, but you’re looking at gtx 970 sli if you want the eye candy.
People on reddit are saying today’s Witcher patch allows hairworks to be enabled at almost no cost on a gtx 980, can’t wait to try it!
970 still takes a hit, but not as severe.
Has anyone else noticed how impossible steam captcha is to get correct? I can’t even log into the website because I can never get the captcha correct. I’d rather they just have cell phone text message codes than this silly garbage.
With the update, I manage 60 FPS with high shadow quality, high foliage distance. The rest ultra, hairworks on. I like the new high sharpness setting, it’s definitely busy, but it looks nice.
Great looking game. The Griffin looked really good, and the sun sets are amazing.
Already loving how the side quests all feel like they were properly thought out.
I feel like I’m looking at this with rose tinned glasses, since I’m a huge fanboy of the first two games and the books… But only a few hours in and I can see this up there with my favorites when it’s all said and done. And with fatherhood on the horizon, this could be my perfect Swan song to dump 100+ hours into
