That game might still get released, some people are still interested.
The moment Rage came out, I figured they were gonna try an open world Doom similar to Rage (which was basically a shitty Doom beta). I still think that game is interesting, just not as a Doom game.
I still want open world Mars/Hell/UMCHQ for Doom 4.
But without a good MP, nobody will give a fuckā¦but I still have faith any Doom game can potentially be not only a game changer, but be the best FPS released ever. But we shall see.
The lead behind CryEngine left Crytek to work with id on id tech 6.
id tech 5 handled animations and ran a lot better than any CryEngine game, but Crysis 1-3 absolutely smoke anything id put out recently(Doom 3, RAGE) when it comes to raw graphical/texture detail. It should be awesome to see the game in motion next month.
Hairworks defaults at 8x msaa. This causes a crazy performance hit on even the most beastly rigs. For example, I get 60 FPS locked with it off, but it drops between 40 and 50 when turned on, sitting mostly in the low 40s.
Tweaking the right ini file letās you set it to 4, 2, or 0⦠Which should make the hit less drastic. I read 0 is pretty jaggy, so they recommend using 2. If thatās still too jaggy, you can force fxaa through NVIDIA control panel.
Canāt wait to get home and try this tweak⦠I really like the hairworks, but not at the expensive of locked 60 FPS.
A lot of games have settings that kill your FPS. Witcher 2 had āubersamplingā which killed performance if you had it ticked on(which I think it was by default.)
Screen Space Reflections rape performance in Wolfenstein: TNO and TOB. Shadow Warrior had a certain setting that killed performance too.
Most people seem to be turning hairworks off on 970ās and hitting 60 FPS @ 1080p no problem. There are some out there who are tweaking settings to get 60 FPS by lowering other stuff, like foliage distance, shadow quality in order to leave hairworks on.
It makes sense, think about rendering all that hair at 8x msaa? They should have broken out that option more than yes/no, but at least your can tweak it in ini.
Witcher 2 had all kinds of settings that didnāt make sense for GPUs at the time, but helped it age well. It looks like itās a similar approach here.
There are even options in the ini files that can drop sli Titan xs to their knees. Mostly foliage stuff, like density, distance, and the shadows they cast.
Still messing with Witcher 3.
The game has a fuck load of content, kinda surprise. Normally game of this quality would have linear story telling and equipment. The items are rather depth among the gear you collect. Side quests are insane, as they provide more info among the lore behind the world as well as the town youāre currently in.
Never have I ran into an open world game where I wanted to do⦠stuff.
The Elder Scrolls series didnāt do it for me (started with morrowind), and other open world games just felt very⦠lack luster.
Witcher 3 is possibly the only game Iāve played that actually felt open world.
People praise games like the GTA and Elder Scrolls series. I personally found them boring, even upon beating completing them to give benefit of the doubt. At times, I didnāt feel like doing the side stuff, it was all boring to me no matter how many chances I gave to each iteration.
Witcher 3 on the other hand, I actually want to explode and find everything about the game. So yeah, if it converted me into enjoying open world games, I can see why people are praising it so heavily.
I wish I could finish games or Iād of got witcher 3
The main thing that put me off though is the generation dip in the graphics. It looked like a next gen wind waker originally so Iām quite confused how it looks like this now
