The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game/Software/Hardware talk

I’ve never been able to find an online match for 13. Or injustice for that matter.

#1 reason I’m excited for sf5 crossplay with playstation.

I need a new wireless router. What would you recommend? Not really doing anything too heavy on it. Just some gaming on the PC, PS4 and Xbox one. There are a bunch of cell phones and tablets that will be connected to it as well. I was thinking about the Asus RT-N66U N900. Any help or recommendations is appreciated. Thanks.

Could you provide your Steam account and PSN info here on this page so I can blacklist you.
Fuck playing people who play on wireless connections. GTFO WITH THAT SHIT!!

Get a LAN cable, and connect your gaming system(s) directly to the router.

Unless it’s absolutely not an option (living with parents or something) you have GOT to directly wire your gaming shit to the modem. Wireless just hasn’t caught up yet.

I’m looking for a somewhat budget laptop that will play games decently any suggestions?

That’ll be tough, honestly. You can prob find one that’ll run potato settings on LoL, and some low end indie games, but not much else. If the laptop can handle today’s games, it’s probably NOT budget.

Cheapest way to go is always gonna be building your own, if you have the patience to research how or someone to help you along the way.

building a laptop? tell me more…

My monitor’s max resolution is 1366 x 768 and I don’t plan on getting a bigger one. What’s a good video card that’ll play most of the latest games at 60 fps on medium-high settings with that being it’s max resolution? My CPU, ram and all that other stuff is decent, the only thing I honestly need to upgrade is my video card.

I’m getting 15-28 fps in Rise of the Triad with this amd radeon hd 6450. I care more about framerate than quality to be honest. Basically I don’t want to buy something that plays stuff at 60 fps on 1080p resolutions when I can get something cheaper that’ll play it 60 fps on MY resolution.

I’m a scrub when it comes to video cards.

Price range?

I don’t really know what the cheapest one that’ll play modern stuff at that resolution… I guess around 250?

At that resolution 250 is overkill. Gtx 750 ti can probably do that no problem.

Oh it 100% HAS TO BE a laptop? No I meant a desktop lol. I’m not sure of any way to even order a custom laptop, let alone build one.

Laptops are just always going to be more expensive and sub optimal for gaming. If it absolutely, no other choice has to be a laptop, be ready to temper your expectations on both performance AND price compared to a desktop.

What do you consider budget?

That video card is not much of a video card at all, to be honest.

The “sweet spot” for video cards is the 2 to 3 hundred dollar range. They give the best performance to dollar. While you can go cheaper card that can get decent performance at lower resolutions, down the road it will likely be a bottleneck to performance again. If you want to stick with AMD, you can get something like an r7 or r9. Or a nvidia 660/750/960. It will be hard to accurately estimate performance at that resolution because it is pretty uncommon. 1080p is the standard.

You will ultimately have to do research and find on that is going to be compatible with your setup. Main considerations making sure your power supply is powerful enough, the case is physically big enough for the card and the motherboard will support it (mostly only an issue if it is an older motherboard)

Just got an overpriced backplate for my 780ti…Looking forward to my negligible temp reductions and moderate rigidity increase.

Considering the whole nvidia thing and windows 10 getting released later in the year, am just gonna hold off and see if DDR4 mobos come down in price sufficiently enough to warrant another look when the new OS drops. Hopefully Nvidia will have a new card or 2 too look at as well.

There’s no such thing as a new “budget laptop” that will run today’s games. However… there are many shit tops (craptops, nigga stovetop! whatever you want to call them…) in the world that you can waste your money on.

Ok being 100% serious here; If you REALLY REALLY REALLY want a laptop badly you could try finding a good one (used) on Ebay for about 400 - 700 bones. If you don’t want to go that route then you should save your money until you have enough to buy a brand new laptop. Btw that’ll cost you about 900 - 1500 for a new gaming laptop at the moment. You missed Black Friday so shit is going to cost. Good luck.

Learned something new about Darkest Dungeon, a lot of the random objects you find can be interacted with using items to guarantee positive results. Locked chests and keys are the obvious ones, but you can use holy water to purify a confession booth, medicinal herbs to cleanse an iron maiden, etc. This gives a 100% guarantee that you won’t get bopped with a negative status effect.

I hadn’t been purchasing these at the provisions screen, since I’d just Vestal heal my way through any bleed/blight effects prior. However now I’ll probably bring at least one depending on the map. Of course you always should try to have enough for shovels, having to break barriers without one is fucking obnoxious.

Apparently, if you’ve purchase a legit copy of Windows 7 or 8, you get Windows 10 for free.
So like… I guess like 20 people are getting free copies world wide.

playing split second velocity.

never heard of it before but pretty good arcade racer. its almost as good as burnout but not as fast. there is no crazy-ass boost. and you don’t get any warning when another car is about to wreck you ass from the back(no homo) and pretty sure there is no shield or anything either.
