The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game/Software/Hardware talk

I really like Kingston RAM.

I’m scared to invest in a 120-144HZ monitor because going back to > 30 FPS console games would probably cause me to cry. That’s where most of my backlog is.

Just download Path of Exile. It’s the best isometric action RPG since Diablo 2 and I’ve played 99% of games in the genre. B)

I got trolled by GabeN last night.

I found a third Chroma Case in CS:GO. Now I could have sold it for two bucks, but instead I spent $3 on a “case key” to open it for myself. I opened it, and, instead of getting one of the better “case drops” that’s worth a lot of money on the marketplace, I got a 20 cent SMG skin for an SMG I don’t even use. #Rekt

The cool thing is I have a shitload of “forum gold” on D2JSP that I’m able to trade off for case keys, cases and other random Steam wallet-related shit and then some. “Forum gold” is basically a shittier form of BitCoins before BitCoins.

Val make up a spec sheet for that shit damn. Also it looks like a ton of room in there what kinda case is that?

Case: NZXT S340
I fucking love it. It hides the power supply and the hard drive bay on the bottome while showing off the SSD’s. It’s clean as fuck and the metal band on the right lets you hide the cable mess while showing them off at the same time.

So full specs:

Motherboard: Asrock z87 fatality killer
CPU: i7-4790k
Ram: 4x4gb Mushkin Redline Enhanced
Gpu: EVGA GTX 970
Storage: 2x 120g kingston HyperX (Raid0) + 1tb WD Blue
PSU: Corsair RM850
Cooler: Raijintek tritton

The ram was plasti dipped to be purple and all the cables were ordered off of Dazmode.com

How you gonna overclock? I was looking at that mobo, said its practically built for the job. Anyways well played that is a really nice looking rig. lucky motherfucker.

I haven’t actually thought about how I was going to overclock yet. I’m been so busy building it that I haven’t thought about what next. Hell I’m far from done. Starting in probably April I want to replace the floppy tubes with acrylic tubes and give them nice right angles for the radiator. I just have to find the best way to do it without blocking the view of anything else or access to the dimm slots.

So windows 10 will be a free upgrade from 7/8. The most interesting announcement to me is shared multi-player between pc and x1. Granted only announced for that iffy looking fable game, but perhaps this opens the door?

I’m getting Windows 10 if only for DX12. That shit is going to make a mad difference.

Free upgrade from 7 is great news and surprising, windows 7 pro is a good £50 cheaper than win 8.1, might be time to invest in a legit copy lol.

I was able to stream DA:I at 1080p max settings (minus msaa) to my phone with ~50fps. 60 FPS when I lowered it to 720p. I’m sure I could find a sweet spot to keep 60 fps and 1080p.

The input lag wasn’t bad… I wouldn’t want to play any kind of online shooter or other twitch action game, but I could easily see playing single player no problem. Going to order the micro usb to hdmi converter to give it a shot on the TV.

You can also use limelight to stream non game executables. Used it to stream slingbox to my phone. Pretty neat stuff.

There’s a free upgrade from Windows to Linux.

*If *you’re talking about cross-platform play, it’s been around since the Dreamcast days with Quake III. B)

There’s a few games that took advantage of it last-gen. Portal 2 has cross-platform play between PS3 and PC as well as some MMO’s. SFV will have cross-platform play between PC and PS4. IIRC there aren’t many(any?) cross-platform games on Microsoft consoles because of some weird policies they have in place.

Shadowrun and Blazblue: Calamity Trigger had cross play between 360 and PC.

Dust and Eve-Online has cross game and platform for a few years now.

Saw the 960 specs.

Fuck no @ the $200 asking price. It’s p much a 750ti, but with a higher core clock rate and consumes much more power.

And that’s why I mentioned it. I really hope they change their policies.

Wasn’t Microsoft no cross platform policy due to console players being absolutely slaughtered by kb/m players when they tested it years ago?

I’ve heard and read this several times in the past but never with a definitive article. This is the best I could find http://techcrunch.com/2010/07/21/did-microsoft-kill-xbox-livewindows-live-cross-platform-play-because-console-gamers-were-too-bad/

That was one of the reasons. But if it is on a game by game basis it could be so much better.

For example, shooters can stay split but action co-op, fighting games, etc can enable it.

There are some big rumors of a 960 ti to be released a few weeks after the 960.

Will the 700 series fully support DX12? I keep getting conflicting information about that.
