I love adventure games, I saw the trailer for it when it came out I was interested but had too many other games to play and still do, but I’ll get around to it eventually.
I’m in love with the demo the gun play and options is spectacular try it out for yourself and donate to kickstarter if you like it, at least tell your friends who like 2D action platformers.
Well, in Valve’s defense, the Steam controller was never designed to play these kinds of games to begin with. Their goal was always to make PC games designed for mice and keyboards playable on a game pad. Which means it should be great for playing FPSes, RTSes and games with drag 'n click interfaces. Sure, the Steam controller won’t be as good for playing genres like platformers and fighting games, but then again, why design a new kind of controller just to play these games, when the existing ones can do the job just fine ?
It’s just so… out there. I think I’d have to have my hands on it to get a real feel for it.
I feel like I’d need the tacticle feedback that thumbsticks have to offer, this feels like it just wouldn’t feel right when playing. Like a touchscreen game on my phone emulating a thumbstick, it never works
I’m liking the new Shadow Warrior. Doesn’t have much to do with the original other then the humor but it feels like Red Steel on the Wii only way better. Like 10X better.
So the melee combat is where Shadow Warrior: 2013 shines. Actual varied attacks+motions=deep, engaging melee combat.
Gunplay and pacing in Rise of the Triad 2013 > Shadow Warrior 2013, but Shadow Warrior is a lot better than I thought it was going to be. Dashes and little things make the combat faster than trailers had me believe.
I got Shadow Warrior: Classic Redux too. Definitely the definitive version of the original. Much better than the GOG release. Real freelook that doesn’t slow down when looking up/down and it doesn’t cause terrain to get all wacky like Build engine games usually do.
@AYO?! Rise of the Triad 2013 is the biggest bang for your buck @ $14.99 when it comes to FPS this gen next to Section 8: Prejudice and Call of Juarez: Gunslinger.
^ This song plays at the start of Shadow Warrior 2013 with Lo Wang singing to it.
Humor isn’t on the originals level, but it’s still there and I appreciate the hell out of it.
Is “free look” an old ass PC gaming term or something? Im just imagining looking anywhere you want when you say that. I do that shit in every game, dont I? Look around, freely.
In old FPS games you couldn’t even look up and down, only left to right. Some games allowed you to freelook, but you’d have to stand still to do it, think Goldeneye 64.
Mods would usually fix this. Freelook just means you can look around freely in a 3D environment instead of left to right. Old FPS weren’t even 3D games technically, they were 2D games still, which is why levels would get distorted if you looked up/down(had to do with the games engine as well.)
I thought so. I remeber playing a few games back in the day that only allowed you to look left and right. I guess I thought it was a console only thing.
Edit - You’ll laugh and dislike me probably but the only FPS games I play are console-like. I play MW2 on the PC a lot and Ive been playing Killzone on the Vita. Im not big on competition I just like bustin’ some cool stuff for a match or two then turning it off. I dont really care about doing good or k/d ratio. I love the Riot Shield in MW2, its just too much fun imo so I’ll get on there and bust some super bashing and laugh my ass off and then turn it off.
Cant really say much about killzone. Its typical console fps fair I suppose. Its handheld though and I found a gun that I really enjoy (tranquilizer gun). Its also good for a match or two here or there.
I am sitting on about $30 Steam credit, going to save it for omega sales I always see and kick myself for when I can’t obtain them. Also if anyone has extra Steam keys they aren’t using to fill out my library, would be cool. I’ll toss some up when I get them as well, better than giving it to randoms.
I bought the Intersteller Marines game, to help support it and to also get free expansions and shit. Although the direction it is taking is different than I initially expected. Before it seemed like a Doom style game with more freedom in how you progress through the game. Now it feels more…e-sports centric for dat dolla dolla bill, hell I don’t even know if it will have a SP mode anymore, although the co-op should suffice. Oh well.
Also got Binding of Isaac and been playing Killing Floor, Torchlight II, and Awesomenauts a bunch.
