The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game/Software/Hardware talk

So I went to play Hatoful Boyfriend again. I told you all that I was surprised about the game. Well, shit really hits the fan during the ‘Hateful Boyfriend’ scenario. I was not expecting that at all. 3+ hours of story and wow…that was one hell of a story.

Don’t listen to PozerWolf, Child of Light is the best game evaaar

This guy…

Also, Vindictus is on Steam. So, I don’t know if it’s good or not.
Here’s a review from some random dude on the game

I had buddies who loved it, then quit it like 2 weeks later.

I’ve played Vindictus. It’s a tedious repetitive grindfest. It possibly has the best battle system of any action MMO I’ve played but shit so generic it bores me to tears. When I played it has this annoying anti-grinding system with tokens.

That’s kinda what I was worried about.
Someone described it to me that, when playing the game they were having “fake fun” and not “real fun” (whatever that means). My biggest concern in regards to the game is that it’s too much of an action game than it is an RPG. I don’t mind having freedom among your attacks, but stepping out of the RPG territory kinda not makes it an RPG anymore.

I just want Tree of Savior to save MMOs already.

I’m bored of everything on my steam library.

It’s not really an RPG. It’s a low tier character action game with RPG dressing. Progress is determined by your equipment then your stats. Levels are really there as an equipment cap.

Play fun video games.

lol I wouldn’t go that far. I’m not much of an RPG guy, so I didn’t mind that it was a little streamlined. Other RPG fans definitely will mind that. But for 15 bucks I don’t regret the purchase at all, it’s a gorgeous game and you’re constantly looking forward to discovering the next area just to see what it looks like. The soundtrack is top notch as well. It doesn’t match up to $60 RPGs in terms of content or depth, but for 15 bucks I was definitely satisfied with the purchase. And for under 10 bucks? I’d snatch it up. It’s the kind of game you don’t need to play through more than once, but you’ll be glad you played through it all the same.

Child of Light is all about the presentation. The music, and the art style to a lesser extent, made the game for me. Love the battle themes. On the other hand, the story is simplistic, but serviceable with some interesting characters. However, none of them drew me in and to be honest, now a few months out, I just remember snippets of each character’s story. Additionally, the story itself is fairly predictable and the constant rhyming can get annoying. In regards to the battle system, I thought it was fun. I enjoyed the emphasis on controlling the flow of the battle. It’s not tough, but it’s fun which is what matters to me.

Don’t think of this game as some huge epic RPG. It’s not. Think of it as some akin to a child’s story book in game form which was probably their goal. Overall, I’d recommend the game if it’s on sale.

@Gren‌

Child of Light is worth every penny. If you get it, play it on the hardest difficulty first.

[Double post]

See, Beta thinks the game is good. So it’s confirmed: Child of Light sucks.

Have you played Rusty Hearts? That’s the closest thing to fighting game mechanics in a rpg I’ve ever played. you can even do launchers into aerial combos.

By that logic, I guess Freedom Planet must be garbage too, then. So why did you play it and sing praises of it, you fucking mongrel?

I’ve played Rusty Hearts. It was more in-line with a beat-em-up imo.

"mocking someone with taste"
Sucka, I know good shit, what do you know. And before you go off knocking down Freedom Planet for some gay ass looking game (cause the game does look gay, not gonna lie), you best look at your avatar, weeaboo.

Now go fuckin’ play Last Remnant, goddamnitt. Trust me when I say You Will love that game. Trust me Beta, you’re going to love that game to death and grind it up for hours. The game is has terrible gameplay, has dat weeaboo J Rock, and has some of the worse story in any JRPG I’ve ever played. But it has a lot of anime, and the sister says “onii-chan” all day, shit is up your ally!! PLAY IT NOW!!

Spec Ops: The Line
This is the 2nd TPS game I’m attempting on controller…I’m really liking the story.
Shudder to know how it ends.

Naruto Shippuden: Ultimate Ninja Storm Revolution
Aside from the grinding of unlocking characters and the long trekking through World Tournament mode…I’m liking the game.

KOF 13
This games looks amazing on my PC for some reason…may just stop playing the console version.

When I had Gamefly I’d pad out gaps between titles I really wanted with mediocre corridor shooters. They were always in stock & easy to play inebriated. So it was extra oh-so-sweet when I went into Spec Ops blind thinking I’d get more of the same, only to realize what the game really was about.

Yager studios had some real balls making it, & 2K was irresponsible and/or nuts to greenlight it. In an ocean of brown & grey FPS/TPS games it had the odds stacked against it (hence why the pubs had an outside studio tack on “me too” multiplayer at the last minute). But the message wouldn’t have been as effective if the game didn’t have all the trappings (good graphics, first-class voice-acting, derivative gameplay, etc) of a big-budget shooter. It was truly a gaming experiment in insanity.

EDIT: Y’know what, I’ve passed on buying this before because nothing will ever top my first experience, and that’s really what the title is about…the gameplay is truly unremarkable. But Imma buy it during the next sale just because I doubt something like this will ever be made again.

Anyone here try out the Banner Saga?
