If those Quake 3 changes are true itâll ruin all aspects of Q3 that make it what it is: a skill-based arena shooter where knowledge of maps, items/weapon locations really matter.
I donât think theyâll make those changes considering the game still gets competitive play. Iâll get the game on Steam but only if those changes arenât realâŚif they are I wonât bother.
I loaded up QuakeLive not long ago, and I was playing at a weird time and there were only Team Arena matches going on. I hate Team Arena.
Raven developed Quake 4, not id. Itâs the same with Wolfenstein 2008(9?) Raven made it and it wasnât as good as Return to Castle Wolfenstein. Wolfenstein: The New Order wasnât as good as RoTT imo either.
Except the game shown in the trailers was not Quake 4, but Enemy Territory: Quake Wars. Which was not developed by Raven, but by Splash Damage. And id technically co-developed the game, since they had to reprogram the Doom 3 engine to make sure it could handle ET:QWâs bigger outdoor environments. The real joke in my post is that Quake Wars was their first attempt to expose Quake to a bigger audience, and they tried to do so by turning it into a brown military shooter in order to sell it to console players. Except the console ports sucked and the game bombed really hard.
Quake 4 was also a shitty game, but for entirely different reasons, namely the boring-ass, corridor-based level design and the mediocre, monster closet-heavy encounter design.
^You late son they been having them UI updates for at least a week.
I donât care about Quake now that I have free UT4, hope F2P model doesnât ruin it when it launches in 2016, but I doubt Cliffy B is that greedy considering he left EPIC to make this game.
Awesomenauts is $2 on steam right the fuck now, all you niggas who have yet to taste one of the very best multi player games ever have no excuse that includes you @HeaTâ and shafty!
Ah, my bad. I didnât actually click the link in your original post, I figured you were talking about Quake 4 by default from the way you worded things.
Splash Damage went on to great thingsâŚremember Brink? :shake:
I think Splash Damage made the original Wolfenstein: Enemy Territory game. I still preferred the original RTCW, though. Anyone have any idea what I need to download to fix the âmaster serverâ problem so I can see games again? The master server originally went down shortly after Bethesda acquired id and their properties. Havenât been able to find a fix as easily as I did for Medal of Honor: Allied Assault. <-- The community for this game took a hit since the Gamespy servers went down though, pretty sure those people donât realize thereâs a fix to find servers again.
Yeah letâs PLEASE not talk about Brink. Splash Damage is currently working on Dirty Bomb for Nexon games, I think itâs pretty easy to get into the beta now, but itâs still REALLY early in development and rough around the edges, despite being worked on for idk how long. Itâs fun though, an awful lot better than Brink ever was.
Brink was actually one of the last times I ran out and bought a game at launch full price. I almost never do that now, rare exceptions for games like Transistor.
Speaking of which, while rolling in UT4 youâre harder to hit, but splash damage still affects you hmmmm so far Iâm getting a UT99 feel, but itâs 2 years away from completion so Iâm sure it will change a lot.
Finally beat the stick of truth last night. Ending was a little underwhelming but overall I really liked the game.
After that I ran tomb raider for the first time. My GTS 250 can actually handle the game fairly well; 1080p with medium settings and a decent frame rate. Pretty shocked! If I hadnât changed my case, it definitely would have overheated so Iâm glad I made that upgrade.
Speaking of Witcher 2 awhile back, looks like itâs on sale for $4 on steam.
Not too big of a fan of bullet hell games which is why I didnât pick it up right away. Ikaruga is about as close to the genre as I get. However, Iâll probably check it out anyway.
I was pretty active in the high-end Blur scene for years, and the Quantum Rush dev invited a lot of us to playtest builds as far back as probably a year ago. The game itself has potential, but the netcode was hoooooooooooooooorrible. I havenât picked it up in probably 3-4 months, but it never migrated past âcuriosityâ status for most of us.
A few of us have been noodling around in the alpha and itâs pretty fucking badass. Lots of stunt/arcade/playground modes, actual racing mastery has a satisfying learning curve and thereâs a planned level editor.
