The PC gaming Thread. Steam/GOG/Origin/Etc. Game/Software/Hardware talk

Blur was good times, do people still play it? I think I know someone with a copy.

I still play Blur locally with friends. Though I have the console version and the servers shut down a long time ago.

What are some good non-fps games?

Portal is awesome, if you’ve never played it.

Anything specific?
Looking for an action game? A mind fucker? Platformer?

SNAAAAKE likes MGS. I’m gonna recommend him some third-person shooters(lol)

Max Payne 3
Warhammer: Space Marine
Red Faction: Guerrilla

I can back MP3 and Space Marine. Would also add War for Cybertron and Fall of Cybertron.

@HeaTā€Œ yes UT4 has actual rolling, pretty cool.

UT4 demo was kinda disappointing. I thought it was a game for a second, but all those ~ menu options are disabled, apparently. Also, I just found out that it’s just was just hacked together by some random person on The Internet. Meh, I’ll wait for a playable demo.

So based on your obvious love for MGS i’ll base my suggestions on elements from that series

so fist off is game storytelling done right

Bastion
Hotline Miami
Dark Souls

Stealth/tactical stuff

Mark of the Ninja
Any Hitman
Payday 2 (i know techically an fps but you dont run around and shoot stuff its all about efficiency and stealth here)

Chill/ turn based strategy / unrelated stuff

Xcom
Civilization 5
Tropico

Servers are alive and well on all three platforms: 360, PS3 and PC and yes, the split screen offline is fucking choice work – it’s like having Double Dash all over again. I have plenty of friends who play every night still, and the PC version has a solid group of people who connect via some peering services for private lobby shenanigans. The meta on that game evolved ridiculously far – much further than anyone at Bizarre could have guessed. Here’s a link to my vids from some of the races I did back in the day:

War for Cybertron is one of the best third-person shooters from last-gen that no one knows about. Great game.

Was it really that good? I remember looking long and hard at it when it first came out, and passing it over because I didn’t think I’d have time to get to it.

^ New gameplay video for Dead Island 2. It looks awesome, way less janky/clunky looking than the first game(which I still enjoyed.)

It was that good. The multiplayer was great, too. You had a ā€œhordeā€ style mode, and the competitive mode mirrored an arena shooter. The multiplayer was really interesting because of all the mobility options you have. Transform into a jet and fly off if you got yourself into a shitty situation, fly in on a camper out of no where, etc. etc. Different ā€œclassesā€ meant you loaded out with specific weapons and could transform into different things(slow, ā€œtankā€ classes, high mobility ā€œjetā€ classes, an in-between class with a really fast ground vehicle.)

I keep getting pissed off at La-Mulana but I keep coming back.
WTF is wrong with me?

And then Fall raised the bar even higher.

Speaking of La-Mulana, Steam is having a flash sale on it & other animu indie games

Thinking of going in on Gunhound & RefleX. My personal faves are Ether Vapor Remaster & ASStebreed. Both by the same devs, the former is surprisingly polished for a Japanese indie shmup (there’s a demo), and the latter just blew my socks off.

I’ve gone ahead and started up my Witcher 2 on a second play through.
And as stated before, I went ahead and got the gameplay mod.

But… is something wrong with the mod?
I’m still on the prologue and no one can touch me, even when playing on Nightmare. People stated the mod was ā€œharderā€, but in what way? I guess I’ll find out once in Chapter 1?

And there’s a strange visual bug where my enemy’s swords are missing. They’re attacking me with their fists. What gives?

EDIT: Hold up, is this a joke?
Upon further research, the FCR mod is a complete mess. It’s full of bugs with broken paths in the story line and skill trees that don’t function. They’re already on 1.2, and the bugs are still relentless. Damn, I was really excited to play this too, but upon further investigation, it’s heavily recommended to avoid this mod at all cost. Lame!

It’s better than expected. I thought it was another licensed cash-in, but this one is really solid.
