Not totally yet. Facebook is out of the question though. I don’t have an account. I don’t plan on doing a whole lot of VR, unless something changes, but I do want to jump into it. I figure having something beefy for it would do wonders for flat-screen gaming.
So, I took ya’lls advice and decided to wait… Kind of.
Instead of getting some kind of premium super card, I got ahold of a RX 580 for $50. I realize this isn’t a huge upgrade from my 570, but this should actually give me a decent performance boost since I only have the 4GB 570. This 580 is 8GB. Most of my performance issues seem to stem from lack of VRAM so, this is actually kind of perfect.
I wouldn’t have even considered upgrading if I couldn’t get it for so cheap, but for $50? Hell yeah. This should keep me more than happy until I can get something more premium.
@Sonicabid this is the same GPU you have, right? Can you play Doom Eternal on Ultra settings if you limit it to 1080p/60Fps?
I ran doom @ 1440p(downsampled, look into this its dope) full settings with an unwavering 60 FPS on that card.
I paid 200 something for mine and now it’s over 300 on amazon. Not sure why it went up, but since these cards work with Apple PCs as well it seems to help its value? So when I sell it off in a year or two it should still have decent value.
You can sell your old GPU for the same price you paid for that 580.
So, do I really need to do anything when I swap out these cards other than physically switching them?
Nope, 1000% sure the drivers are the same too.
Now if you were going from AMD to an NVidia card you’d have to nuke the drivers first and vice-versa.
Fuckin dope. It should be here sometime today. I actually have a friend who’s building a PC that wants to buy the 570 for 150 smackers so, it all works out lol.
Hype to play Avengers on Ultra.
Had a little extra money and moved away from the GTX-950 and grabbed an RX 580. Ran really well at 1080 settings but starts to get bogged down when moving to the 4K range. I haven’t changed the clock speed on the unit yet.
When benchmarking the unit, I was actually pretty surprised that the i7-4790K performs as well as it did. Still ranks in the 70th percentile.
Free on Steam until 10/19…

Steam wants my non-existent monies…
Damn, DOOM Eternal is only $20.
Since I can’t find a 3070 I’m looking at some prebuilt pc’s. How bad of a deal is this for $1500?

I’ve had my on this since before I had a capable PC. Now it’s $10. rubs chin
Roman Reigns: That’s nice. Nobody plays it.
If I had a nickel for every time a Steam sale gets me to buy a game I’ll never have time to play by knocking the price down to $5, I’d have only spent $4.95 on absolutely nothing.
Loving this new ASUS gaming Desktop monitor:
…finally, able to use Ultra-wide feature and features that work in tandem with GPU!!
Get the Cemu emulator and boot up Breath of the Wild in ultrawide. It’s probably still the most impressive thing I’ve seen.
I already have the Cemu emulator and BoTW, plus the 2 fan made story campaigns with Linkle and Zelda!!
I need to update it to the latest version 1.22, but I will try it out.
How do you put Cemu in ultrawide mode, though?
Also, something that I was going to do next year when I finally return to the workforce once Texas gets a handle on CoVid-19.
I want to upgrade my CPU, but I want to know 1) if its compatible with my current motherboard and 2) how to transfer data to the new CPU.
I’m pretty sure it’s an option in the default graphics back. If not just download an the graphics back from BSOD Gaming on youtube.

If you’re on Intel it’s almost a given that you’ll need to buy a new motherboard.
-
To transfer your data you could just buy a new C drive and plug your old one as a backup drive. All of your data will still be there. You could also “Clone” your drive if you want to pop it in your upgrading machine without reinstalling windows but I don’t know how that’s done.

Going with AMD, so yeah I’m going to need a new motherboard.
You can buy something like this to clone your drives.
