Except it isn’t being treated as one and Jensen said it’s not the titan for the 30XX series.
The hardware there, but they are purposely gimping the drivers for it.

Why would they do that unless they are going to make an official RTX 30XX Titan

Question for the more experienced enthusiasts in here…

I’m contemplating upgrading my GPU to a 2080 if I can find one for cheap, maybe even a 2070. Are you guys aware of any deals? Or any good places to check besides Ebay?

Secondly, would I need to also upgrade my CPU? I have a AMD Ryzen 5 1600. I’m wondering if I’d have bottlenecking issues.

It will bottleneck a 100%. Now to which degree I’m not sure, but it will hold back that GPU big time, but if you’re only aiming for 60FPS @1080p for your games I wouldn’t sweat it.

If you see people benchmark these cards they always do it with top-of-the-line CPU’s to avoid any bottlenecking, and at the higher end CPU’s it’s only a few frames of difference.

^ This will give you some kind of estimate.

Gotcha, that’s more or less what I figured.

Yeah, I am literally aiming no higher than 60FPS and 1080p. I basically just wanna run stuff in Ultra settings. I don’t need 4K, I don’t need raytracing, I don’t need HDR or any of that.

So you think I’d be OK with that CPU for now based on that criteria?

Huh, your link kinda answered my question I guess.

It even says I’d have minimal issues running 4K but that can’t be right…

I wouldn’t worry about it until cross-gen ends. That CPU should be more than enough for like 1-2 years, but once cross-gen ends and CPU/GPU requirements skyrocket you MIGHT see it start to bottleneck you then.

Oh, that’s a pretty specific benchmark video. Right on. I’ll check that out. Thanks breh.

Also I wouldn’t buy a new GPU right now, not until we see what AMD has cooking in 1 month.

They might change the GPU game like they did with their new CPU lineup. NVidia is scared which is why they released their 3000 lineup early(have you seen the issues with the 3080s yet? lolol) and devs working with the new consoles are saying that their RDNA2 lineup can hang with the 3000 series if not be even better.

I believe it.

I second waiting on what AMD got in the pipe. Their products tend to be competitively priced compared to Nvidia.

Even if I don’t plan on buying a next gen card?

I’d love to have a 3000 series card, or whatever AMD is cooking up, but honestly the 2080 (or even something similar in scope) will give me the performance I’m looking for. If anything I’m considering the 3070 since it’s at such a competitive price and supposedly double the power of the 2080.

3000 series is a next-gen card though.

It’d be a dumb move to buy a GPU right now before we see what AMD has cooking. If anything, they will at least have cards that match the 3070/3080 at better prices in the worst case scenario. Also make sure your PSU is up to snuff before you buy one of these, I think the 3080 wants a 750w minimum.

I heard the 3070 will work on a PSU of 650 or higher, which is what I’ve got. Don’t quote me tho.

I realize the 3000 series are next gen cards, that’s why I’m curious why you guys think I should wait. You think I’ll find better prices on a last Gen card once AMD reveals their tech, or like…?

Man for what you’re paying for a used 2080 you can get a brand spanking new AMD card that will smoke the 2080 for the same price you’d pay for a used 2080. I’d bet money on it.

Just be patient man, you’ll be rewarded if you are.

Ok, if that’s the case then yeah I’ll probably wait a little longer.

I’m not in any rush to upgrade really, more just exploring my options.

NVidia is scared man. They aren’t underestimating their competition like Intel did.

Devs are saying the GPU is super beefy in the PS5 and that it can hang with the 3000 series and that their new RDNA2 lineup has the potential to smoke it. Yeah it’s rumors, but it makes a lot of sense.

I’m saving up for a couple years to get something beefy with VR. I hope the games are going to be insane as I think they’ll be in the coming years.

Tried some Fighting EX Layer online

 Told you dawg. Game is dead outside of the hardcore handful of people who play it in the Discord.

DIscord I was in it, then I was not, then I was, now I don’t know how to get back in… haha!

Is there a headset you have an eye on?

If Facebook isn’t a turn off the Quest 2 can’t be beat with it’s $300 starter price. Being a standalone headset you don’t need a PC to use it. Though you can use it for PCVR with Oculus link.

If want something more high end than there’s the HP Reverb G2. Apparently it hands the Index it’s ass and it’s cost $400 less. Its design to hand VR it’s ass so you will need a beefy PC to make use of it.

I normally browse https://www.reddit.com/r/buildapcsales/ and if you feel frisky https://www.reddit.com/r/hardwareswap/ I’ve seen deals on a 3600 for $175 from either Amazon/Walmart from time to time. What i’m currently rocking and i’m in the same boat of a possible GPU here soon. If you have questions for sure ask and we shall try to steer you right brother.
