I feel like a lot of the disdain that comes from people for non Steam launchers is mostly because it’s just a hassle to manage all these different programs. For me personally, it’s less that those other launchers are “bad” and more that I have to open 12 different ones for different games now.
I’d be content just launching everything through steam.
Yea, most people just want all their games in one place. It’s a pain in the ass to have 3 or 4 different launchers just to play games from a specific publisher. Sometimes those other launchers isn’t as feature rich as Steam. The lack of features compared to Steam is a big reason why most dislike the Epic’s store. Origin when EA initially launched it acted as spyware. Uplay is unstable trash as it’s servers are always crashing.
Not to mention non-Steam platforms seem to offer much less support to their customers. I can’t count how many people I’ve heard have been permanently locked out of their Origin accounts, and EGS is just hot garbage lacking even basic features.
They give you the game. No strings attached. Do whatever you want with it. Install it as many times as you want on whatever you want. You own it after all.
Interesting. I mean, I like launchers that are good because they consolidate all my stuff in one spot. I FUCKING HATE having stuff on my desktop and I barely put stuff on my Taskbar.
I do like the idea though. Really everyone should give you the option to do this.
Ok there is one but you don’t have to use it. I don’t remember having to use it. I haven’t played on my PC in a while tho has it changed? I always got the game when I downloaded it.
Edit: Yea the option is fine. I have a way I organize stuff on my PC already so I’m good on organization. I just don’t like being forced to use the launcher. It’s annoying and software I don’t want anyway.
I’m using steam, but I have all my apps/icons for other things on the start menu as well. No icons on my desktop to keep it clean and show the wallpaper.
