The PC Gaming Thread Phase II, The Masters of Gaming. No console peasants

we won’t see any specs on anything besides the top-end chips until their E3 presser, which I believe is next week. The keynote that starts at 10pm Eastern tonight is basically gonna unveil the X570 platform, and may go into detail about some of the higher-end stuff (12/16 core chips).

Needless to say, I’m gonna start working on getting my upgrade budget together once my wife’s PC is put together. (I only need about $375 to get her remaining parts).

Edit: AMD Keynote just ended … new top-end CPU from them is the 3900X. 12 cores and 24 threads for the same cost as a Core i9 9900k. I want to hold out for one of these, but $500 is an incredible ask from me. I may end up going with the higher clocked 3800X at $400.

Here’s a AMD Keynote recap thanks to Paul’s Hardware:

Edit:

Also, I’ll be posting a lot of YT videos from Computex, since it’s going on now in Taipei. I’ll try to get those videos posted before I head out the door for work each day.

Edit 2: First Two Computex Videos from GamersNexus (one of which features Linus from LinusTechTips):

And this one from Hardware Unboxed (looks to be a recap of the AMD keynote):

sorry for missing yesterday, cable company bodied my internet for 24 hours in order to activate my new modem. Mrs. Mike and I had been renting a modem from them until yesterday morning. With this post, I should be up to date on videos.

Anywho, time for videos!

I’m like what I’m seeing from the Cooler Master H100. If the airflow is good on it I’ll get one the next time I do an ITX build.

mmm …

Getting ahead of this early since I have shit to do today, so here’s the latest videos from Computex:

So how much ground you think Intel going to lose, and lose big?

Amongst enthusiasts, we’re gonna potentially see a big swing in AMD’s favor to be honest, especially if the IPC is improved as was shown at the Computex keynote. Don’t know if they’re gonna decimate Intel’s market share immediately, but if these new Ryzen chips are even remotely close to this; Intel is straight fucked.

Also all the new securities flaws just found, the OS patches is going to hurt Intel chip performance

I really don’t like these N64 style find all the loot 3D “Platformers”
I w as meh with Mario 64, Yuck with Banjo Kazooie, and WTF with DK 64.

Kao the Kangaroo 2 looks like it came out of the Walmart Bargain Bin in the mid 90s.

I’m no fan of collect-a-thon platformers. I’ll pass on Kao.

Every game I play on Steam now lags to hell. I don’t remember the first few months on SC6 being this bad, but now it’s like I’m in the ocean on every fucking game yo. Tried everything with ports and shit, no shared connection, wtf man. My cpu is spazzin out

Time to be a console peasant. CTR is coming out!

I’d try flushing your dns. Open Command Prompt (type cmd in windows search) type “ipconfig /flushdns” in command prompt. I’d also try deleting your internet temp files. In the window search bar type “%temp%”. If this folder has a lot of stuff in it’s the culprit. Just delete the temp data you don’t need. Also, you’ve probably tried it but restart your modem. Duing that once a week or so should keep your connection strong.

Tried all that and lag still there, I have reached the conclusion that my laptop is either ass (asus) or terrible wifi (yeah fuck cox)

My room can get horribly dusty at times too, I’ll be moving to another apartment in a few months.

edit: ran a connection test, it says

Ping: 10 ms
Download: 121.6 mbps
Upload: 10.8 mbps
jitter: 2 ms

Only I play SC6 on this thing, first 4 months few matches with lag. Started playing recently again and now every game heavy lag.

Picked up quite a few computer parts for the missus tonight before heading home from the ballgame. Walked out of Fry’s with about $900 worth of gear, including my replacement mechanical drive. Going from a 3TB WD Red drive to a 6TB Toshiba X300.
