Saying tapping down or forward after whiffing moves will win you a round is either disingenuous or it’s just from ignorance.
Just like someone can say spamming hadouken will win you a round in ST.
It’s a really hollow statement.
I think your opinion is fine, but you don’t need to try and back it up with all sorts of logic.
I’d rather if people just said they didn’t like the style game that parry creates. I can’t deny that 3S has its own style, and if that isn’t to someones taste, there’s nothing wrong with that.
also im confused as to how jumps in 3S aren’t guesses? can someone clarify that? not trying to be an ass, just i honestly don’t know what this means or how to interpret that but i’m interested.
edit: o also, sometimes you just need to do shit. like, you cant get wrapped up in your head that parry just invalidates shit. sometimes you just need to DO IT. i was trying to think of a good example of a japanese player. kokujin for sure. of course he plays smart, but sometimes he just goes for it too. throw that shit out there. you can’t be afraid of parry and play 3S. maybe that’s why many people dislike it, they’re uncomfortable with how easily shit can possible be blown up (‘just tap forward’)
Don’t make statements of fact if you don’t want them to be interpreted as statements of fact. I don’t know what argument you are even trying to make. It just bothers me to see someone make statements that reduce 3s to nothing more than a game of tapping down and forward. It’s wrong, and 1 video of Nuki bouncing up and down in the corner doesn’t prove that, no more than me posting a video of Ironfist doing nothing but tiger uppercuts proves that SF4 is all about just doing uppercuts over and over.
If you want to say that parry drastically alters footsies I’d agree with that.
It gives characters who struggle against the top 2 more options and really shuts down predictable players. It also makes the game more “player vs player” (whoever has more knowledge of X wins) at a low level, though I can’t say that it’s III specific, I guess. Don’t know about high level.
Take note on how Deshiken never bothered to give any respect to Rikimaru once given the advantage because he knew he wasn’t going to win with footsies. Take into account that Rikimaru is a parry monster and is arguably Nuki’s equal(if not better); despite different playstyles and habits they are both the two best Chuns in the world. Kuroda fell victim to his own defensive play and even if Nuki was “spamming down and baiting whiffs”, Kuroda played that game and paid for it. He shouldn’t have done that. He got cocky(another thing Kuroda’s notorious for).
And for the record, Deshiken didn’t just win via flukes. He went toe to toe against Rikimaru in a first to six rematch after Cooperation Cup, where Rikimaru barely won it 6-5. He also beat MOV in two three out of five sets to win Shadowloo Showdown in Australia.
people that dont play 3rd strike get parried and killed and instantly blame the game or they blame the opponent, ie. “man what a fucking faggot guesser…man this game is fuckign stupid just tap down and win…”
I dont remember the last time i thought that way. Maybe like in 2001 on dreamcast.
If i get parried and die i instantly blame myself. there are a numerous options you can do to not get parried.
if you dont believe me, just play a really REALLY strong 3rd strike player and just guess down or forward and see what happens.
So now someones post on shoryuken forum is a statement of “fact”. You don’t even know the meaning of the word. Also nice hyperbole on the “statements that reduce 3s to nothing more than a game of tapping down”. I never stated any such thing.
Zoning can still be effective in 3S… Though I do agree with the statement that it is for pussies who aren’t willing to risk anything. You know, the guy who goes to Vegas and comes back with the same amount of money he left with.
You still have to do something about projectiles, only difference here is, your opponent can too and they’re rewarded for taking the risk and you aren’t reward (very much) for taking the minimal risk. 3S is perfectly designed for skilled players. Those who can’t cope with having to develop strategy after their first one is ripped to shreds can go eat dicks… Lots of dicks… At White Castle.
lol half the people in this thread don’t even know what they’re talking about, and the other half are rabid 3S fangirls who won’t admit any slight fault with the game because then they would have to admit they spent over ten years playing a game which isn’t perfect.
@4:06… That was the greatest read I HAVE EVER SEEN KNOW TO MANKIND. It’s these subtle things that make the mind games of 3S intricate. I think Kuroda realized Nuki was imitating him so he stood up quick and did c.mk… That’s mind reading if anything…
Karas13: We HAVE been playing this game for almost(or over) 10 years and we know that not everyone’s going to like it. And yes, we read you loud and clear that you still like the game but find faults with parries. We just disagree with why you find fault in it, your choice of words(you have to admit that it was a shitty metaphor), as well as the match you used to reinforce your argument(just read the first page for why I strongly disagree with using that video for your example).
While you’re right about half the people in here not knowing what they’re talking about, don’t act like we’re all a bunch of delusional idiots in denial.
