Im working on a new stick right now, and having some trouble. I started out with a PS1-H, then i put some hot glue on it, got it all wired and the Square was not working, so I took it apart and the Sqaure had broken (but sence it was hot glued it ripped the trace right out of the PCB) Then i tried a PS1-M, and when i got it all wired, the only thing that would work was the up-right, and down-right.
I went back to my local used game store and they are totally out of PS1 controllers. Meaning my only option is going to game-stop and getting a PS2 controller. At this point i would be willing to go through the headach of the Solderless hack, But i dont know what controller the hack works best with.
So, what would be my best option? what is a decent single ground PS2 controller???
I have a PS2-H that came with my PS-Slim that i could kill and then just buy a new one later, Would the H work well? is it single ground? I dont want to open it up untill i can be sure that it would even work. (and i dont want to mod it and F that one up to)
My other stick i made was a PS1-M and i did a ground to each button and everything works perfect.
I posted this in the noobie thread, but I thought this might be a better place for my question. Anyway⌠as I said over there:
Alright⌠soooo⌠Iâm a noobie. Iâve been reading as much as I can on stick building lately. Iâve skimmed as much of the noobie guide threads as my attention span allows, but that eventually runs out with how many specific questions get asked in these threads when I have a rather general question.
So. Here goes nothing. My simple question: What options do I have for building a stick that works with multiple consoles? Iâm presently planning on hacking a PSX/PS2 controller (specifically, I just ordered a pair of Pro-Shock arcade sticks [branded by Interact, but they look identical to the Blaze Pro-Shock Mini] and Gamecube adapters off of eBay for $30 shipped), but I really want to be able to use my custom stick with my 360 for the upcoming Street Fighters and the other fighting games on the system.
I know that Iâll have to hack an existing pad thanks to Microsoftâs âsecurityâ feature. So, hacking a MadCatz sounds just fine. What Iâm having trouble figuring out is how to use one set of controls (the parts Iâll be buying) with more than one hacked console controller (in this case, the Pro-Shocks and a pair of 360 MadCatz controllers). Iâve done some work along these lines before (mostly in audio gear, though). I was thinking that, in concept, I want something that works like a SPDT switch (signal runs from controls to controller board A or controller board B). However, as far as I know, SPDT switches only work with a single line⌠and I need a dozen or so lines because of the way the controls work. Then I got to wondering, is it possible to wire multiple controller boards to a single set of controls in parallel (all of the boards connected to the controls at once)?
So⌠my questions in simpler form: can I have one set of buttons attached to more than one PCB at a time (for convenience, I would run them all into a central wire hub with quick disconnects)? If not, is there a switching system I can us to switch between PCBs?
Iâm guessing the ground common to the D-pad also includes L1 and L2? And same for R2 and R1 on the other side? Or do the L and R buttons just have no ground?
its been a minute since i did this so someone refresh my brain. on the dreamcast pad where is the point for putting the ground for the p360. if i remember right it had to be separate from the other grounds right?
I have a Madcatz 360 pad thatâs been hacked. It works fine, but for some strange reason, when I use it the 360 thinks I have a microphone plugged in. The headphone jack has nothing in it, but the 360 constantly shows one hooked up. As far as I know nothingâs been done to the headset jack during the soldering. The analog triggers were resistorâed, as was the left analog stick (although neither should have any bearing).
I have no idea whatâs going on to cause it. Any thoughts? Is there a surefire way to disable it? I have a wireless headset I was going to use anyway.
Hi, 2 questions, Does anyone know the best way to get rid of the L1/R1 shoulder buttons that are held on the PS1 PCB? Theyâre held on by 3 shielded wires.
Second, anyone know where to get some spade connectors? Like in bags/amounts of 20/10 or so, and not the assorted kind at radioshack or radioshack in general. For 22Gauge preferably.
i have 2 ps2 controllers they both say A in the back and when I open them up they are visually identical except for that large resistor that is soldered across the back it goes from a spot just above the analog stick up to the ground pin. 1 of the controllers does not have this. I performed the solderless terminal dualshock A hack on both of them. The 1 with that big resistor works perfectly. While the 1 without it only start and select work. I used the same resistor on both a 4.6K. The both have continuity between pin 7 and pin 9 what do you advise I do? I have pics if you need them.
all i want is a fairly good stick with a circular gate (no 4 or 8 way)
i was thinking of getting the Hori Xbox 360 Fighting Stick EX2 and replacing the stick with a âSanwa JLW-UM-8 Bat Handle Joystick, 4 & 8-Wayâ and replacing the gate with the âSanwa GT-0 Round Restrictor Plateâ (circular)
So my question is: is it possible to swap the sticks?
donât do it trust me the jlw blows. Get an ls56 with the octogonal gate, trust me Iâve been through this the seimitsu octogon is as close to circle as you need but it gives you bumps to tell where youâre at and it kicks the jlwâs ass.
sorry, i posted this in the newbie thread and didnât get a response. is the basic ps2 dualshock pad common ground? if not, what is the best cheapest common ground ps2 pcb? thanks.
bad question but im trying to do the simple soldering on a playstation 1 controller H series and my question was since there are so many grounds to choose from(since im going to daisy chain it) can any ground be choosed? can i start off with the ground connection from the select button or start button and daisy chain it on the quick disconnects or is there a specific ground connection i have to solder to.
