No I I am using the Wii stick already which already. Thanks for the reply though.
Do the joytech xbox 360 controllers have common ground? I havenāt seen an exact answer for this yet.
I have a quick question. I was gonna work on a pad hack on a ps1 control. Do these pads, either the original or DS, work with the PS3 with an adapter? I havenāt decided on buy the pad yet so I canāt test it out myself.
GhibliCat: No, Joytechās NEO Se pad doesnāt have common ground. When I hacked it I used separate grounds for all buttons/directions. Did some testing but I didnāt try ALL combinations so I guess some buttons MIGHT have common ground. Didnāt think it was worth the effort of checking everything though.
ZeroX: Yes, they work with a PlayStation->USB adapter (if the adapter works without any need for drivers). Tekken DR (Online) and PS2 games work without a problem but Virtua Fighter 5 requires an analog button for the directions to work. Some converters, such as the Pelican one works without an analog button. But if you have a random USB adapter and want to play VF5 youāll probably need one.
Thanx bro
Can someone please tell me if this controller is common ground? I know the d-pad is, but not sure about the rest. I am a total newb at using a multimeter.
i cannot directly answer your question (im not too sure and quite newbie myself), but I used the same PCB to mod a tekken 5 ps2 stick using sanwa parts⦠i did grounds for dpad, and one for the rest of the buttons. iāve mostly been using my stick for pc games, and i used it for puzzle fighter hd, sf anniversary edition and a few of the other arcade games on the 360; they worked just fine.
hereās an old screenshot
Not really sure if this fits under āpadhackingā but I came across a cool PCB for wiring up computer joysticks. Its a USB interface with places to wire up to 32 buttons and 8 analog axes. You basically just attach the leads from any arcade stick and the pushbuttons to the connectors on the interface, plug it into your USB port and install the driver. Iām going to order one soon. It looks pretty awesome. You could even built a 2 or more player panel and wire everything up to this thing. It costs $34.99 plus $9.99 shipping.

Not sure what to think about that. Using a p360 or sanwa flash is right out. If that button matrix is setup how I think it is, it just aint gonna work. Any common ground integration stuff is right the hell out. Once again, I with heād release the source. I would love to see how he did his custom configuration program, but I couldnāt bring myself to buy it. Except for the custom config part, I know I could duplicate the functionality in an hour with one of the 2450ās or 2550ās I have lying around. Hell, could probably use the USBBitWhacker board directly.
Toodles, can you tell what setup that Madcatz 360 PCB uses?
You know the end that plugs into the Xbox or the PC? The metal shroud piece is connected to the padās ground. Now that you know that, read the directions Iāve already put up in this thread for determining if itās common ground:

Hey, I get to double quote the same post!

Can I daisy-chain the ground wires from the button and the joystick in one ground wire only and solder it?
Thatās what I want to know as well. I asked and havenāt seen a response. It worked on my old USB PC stick I madeā¦I guess Iāll try and see what happens. I have an orginal Xbox controller (large) that I will be trying to hack.
So I was under the impression that the blue wire on the dreamcast pad could be spliced and connected to the +5 volt line on a Happ 360 but it definitely isnāt working for me. Where do you connect to for 5 volts on an official Dreamcast pad?
You saved me! It is indeed common ground after all⦠GameStop Microcons are no longer available, but their standard MadCatz pad is $25, which isnāt too bad.
New questions: Can I completely remove the triggers without causing erratic behavior? And how would I go about wiring up the triggers to buttons if I wanted to keep them?
As long as the PCB uses a common ground setup, yes you can.
So it should work on a PS1 Dual shock series H PCB?
The most secure way is to take off the trigger and the pot. Then solder resistors from the middle contact to the outer contacts. To use the triggers in your stick wire your button to the middle connection. Toodles posted something earlier about replacing pots with resistors. Here is the post.
I just finished wiring a pad last night using this method. I even took off the thumb sticks and locked them down with resistors. Nice and solid now.

p.s. The pad I hacked is exactly the same one as you posted ealier. I used 4.7k resistors in place of the post. Iāll post pics tonight.
Yep, I hack these all the time. :woot:
