i ment analog sticks…
si would go for the one with the analog sticks, the grey one…DO NOT buy the white psone controller…it has no real PCB, just plastic…
False. The PSone controller has two real PCBs. There is a picture of it in the first post on this thread.
I got my psx pads(2 H series and 1 M series)… I opened one of them (H) and noticed that the solder points look different in the pic on page one than they do irl… they are black not blue and red… what do I do?
They’re supposed to be black. Someone colored the areas with red and blue to help you figure out what is what. All you need to do is scratch off the black stuff for the non-ground areas, then solder to the metal underneath.
do I just leave the ground areas black then? or scratch everything off?
Yes, you can leave them as black. However, you’ll need to use one of the grounds to daisy chain the buttons/stick, so you can either use one of the grounds covered by the black stuff or you can use the R1/R2 or L1/L2 ground.
Thanks for the help!
btw how do I wire to an M series? I want a pop’n music ASC =D
It’s more or less like the H series. Just scratch off the black and solder to the metal underneath. There should be a picture in this thread somewhere.
alright thanks
Ok. A couple questions from an absolute noob at doing this kind of thing.
After reading through the whole thread, a couple questions I have are…
- When referring to hacking the Street Fighter pads, are you referring to these type of pads? (For Playstation 2)

-
Would it be ok to hack one of those Street Fighter ones, or is it more preferable to just hack a PS1 PCB?
-
Should the Street Fighter pad be used, does anyone have a screen shot of the soldering points?
Thanks, all!
Some of the M Series you don’t even need to scrape. They have little exposed copper terminals already.
-
Yes.
-
PS1 PCBs are reported to have better converter compatiblity.
-
Look in the early pages of the thread. There is one here somewhere.
On a related note, I wish the first page would be updated.
Ya. A ton of dead links throughout the thread.
Ok, guess I will head on over to Ebay and get an analog PS1 controller.
Thanks for the info, Starcade RIP.
Sure thing.
Also, since you live in a big city, I would recommend checking out a local flee market. The used game shops often have a stock of old PS1 pads. If nothing else you’ll save shipping.
I tried doing a search on this but came up with nothing. Maybe someone can point me in the right direction. I want to know if its possible to rewire my ascii stick to usb. Would it be possible to splice the cord so that I have both a Dreamcast connector and a usb connector, or is this way too out there.
Yea I feel bad for people who get yelled at when they cant find things when they search, as much as I love this site the search function almost never yields any positive results for me, errors long load times and just generally not easy to find things that way. =(
essentially the psx/ps one controller is the best to start with? If I want to learn how modify PCB’s?
Yup, plus theyre cheap so if you mess it up its no big deal
thank you. I have soldering skills so I may fiddle and mess around with some stuff.
has anyone used a Happ P360 on a Playstation padhack? i know there is voltage problems and im pretty new to soldering and dont know much about resistors… any help would be great as to how to get a P360 connected to a PS controller. Which controller, i can only assume the H series.
