*The "padhacking" thread*

I’m not sure what your trying to do. you can still build a small hitbox with 24mm buttons. I would not use the microswitches that it comes with if you want it to last.

connect it to a windows computer and open the joystick preferences from control panel. on windows XP you need the xbox 360 controller driver from microsoft. on vista and 7 you can just plug it in.

Wow, I cannot believe this same thread is still going.

Hi guys, I didn’t want to make a thread, but I have some questions about a joystick rebuild. Some questions:

Does anyone have a diagram of the Hori Fighting Stick 3 PCB? I’m redoing my old one but some of the connects are a little fried as I wasn’t quite experienced with soldering at the time, so I need some alternative solder points, if you take my meaning.

How exactly should I go about connecting multiple PCBs to one stick? In this case, it will be Dreamcast, PSX/PS2, Ps3 and Xbox 360. I know there was a way to do it, but I haven’t been a part of the scene in 3 years now so memory escapes me.

Is there any way I can connect a PSX controller button via wire and have it work on my stick, or are they designed for the purpose of pressing directly only?

Thanks guys.

I had a similar question a few posts up. Multi-Console Cthulhu supports DC, PS1/2 and PS3. You would have to dual mod with a 360 pcb + Imp v2. To use the older consoles along side the newer ones, you are going to have to use the RJ45 jack and create connection cords for the various consoles you want.

Awesome, thanks for the links. Is there any way I can use my existing PCBs to do the mod, or is the cthulhu the only option?

MC Cthulhu is the better option.

FS3 pcb is not very good quality, and very large in comparison. DC pcb would have to be taken from an Agetec arcade stick to be any good. PSX pcb would need to be common ground, hackable, and compatible with any adapters you wished to use. MC Cthulhu does all this for you in one smallish PCB. You would still need a suitable Xbox 360 pcb to hack.

If you have a 360 MadCatz stick then all you would need is a Kitty TE board, no soldering required.

Hi guys, having a bit of trouble wiring a psx pad. This post is a little long but am in dire need of some assistance.

I’ve wired all the face buttons + shoulder buttons just fine, they all work brilliantly etc, but now I am having some difficulty in wiring my start, select, and joystick switches.

The start and select buttons are different to the sanwa face buttons i have, in that they are “american” style, with plungers, and three prongs. One coming out of the side, two coming out of the end.

http://media.giantbomb.com/uploads/0/431/883348-happ_comp_buttons_super.jpg

The joystick I am using has two prongs on each switch, one on the side and one on the end.

The problem I am having is that if I connect one side to the ground (the common ground in this case), and the other to the signal, the button just fires repeatedly as if it is constantly being pressed. This is without me even activating the switch. The problem is exactly the same for the joystick switches and the happ switches.

Is there anything i could have done in the wiring to cause this? I wired all the face buttons to the common ground and then to the respective signal, simple enough. Can anyone offer any suggestion?

Look at the side of the microswitches. You’ll see labels ‘COM’, ‘NO’, and ‘NC’.
Never use NC; only use the other two.

Thanks for the reply! Any idea on the joystick microswitches? They only have two prongs and I am having the same difficulty

Actually, regardless of what wire (even wire on its own) I touch to the directional positions they fire automatically? Not sure what’s up there.

Has anyone dual modded a madcatz 360 TE with a xbox1 L-controller ?
I’m really having a hard time because it seems the xbox1 controller is not sensitive to what it considers a ground.
On the TE, the signals are pulled up at around 3.3V, whereas on the xbox1, they are at nearly 5V (say 4.8).
When signals from both consoles are tied together, the xbox1 says the matching button is pressed (the common voltage is then at nearly 4V).
So apparently, 4V is equivalent to ground for the xbox1 controller !
I tried hooking up a 4148 diode going from the xbox1 signal to the xbox360 signal so that the xbox1 controller sees a higher voltage, to no avail.
I’ll try with a 4004 diode if I can insert the diode leg in the TE terminal block (I love solderless methods).
I would HATE to use optocouplers…
Thanks in advance for suggestions
EDIT: Changing to a 4002 diode didn’t change anything, the forward voltage is still too low
EDIT2: I inserted optocouplers between signals from both PCBs and now everything is “peachy” like says someone

Been searching for an hour and I can’t find the answer, so here goes:

I’m trying to do a cable transplant from a PS1 Dual Shock to a PSX Digital M pad. I do not have the male end on the M pad, so I’m having to figure out what the seven pins are that I need to solder. Ground and 3.3v were easy to find, but I can’t figure out Acknowledge, Data, Command, etc etc… anyone have one of these they can help out with?

I’m aware I’ll have to cut off one cable on the new cord since the M pad doesn’t have the 7.7v line for the rumble motor.

Not the answer you need but it might help:

DAT - brown
CMD - orange
N/A - grey
GND - black
VCC - red
ATT - yellow
CLK - blue
N/A - purple?
ACK - green

Grey & purple are not needed.

That part I have, because I have the male end of the new cable.

I need to know what the 7 pins on the bare PCB itself are. All I know is 5 is ground and 6 is 3.3 VCC.

According to pinout.ru Pin 3 is 7.6 volt

I believe the 7.6 volt line has a fuse on the PCB.

I know this isn’t enough but I hope it helps

Nope, but thanks. :frowning:

I’m going to need someone who actually has the pcb to do a pinout. Probably not going to find someone in time. -_-

Edit: Disregard, I have a Digital H.

Is this it?

Gonna look for myself but time seems of the essence. I can probe this and let you know. Thank goodness I never throw anything out, this was damaged in some way in a customer’s stick, kept it for the cord more or less.

looking for some help, I am in the process of putting together my own stick and the madcatz 360 controller i got from amazon is the 2011 version. I was wondering if the pcb should still be the same as the 08/09 pcb maps on slagcoin? and if not maybe someone can point me in the right direction cause my googling skills must suck.

u might want to check out the 360 pad layouts on the first page of this thread. u might get lucky and find it their.

haven’t added 360 to a ps3 stick in quite some time, what’s the best 360 pcb to use nowadays?

Mad Catz 360 Fightpad / Brawlpad / Strekken. They are all pretty much the same thing with minor differences. Should be able to find them for reasonable prices online as they are often on sale.

thanks. do the triggers need to be hacked on any of those?
