*The "padhacking" thread*

Ok ill give it shot. I’m bassically going to screw one leg of the diode into the home screw on the smd and sodder the other end to the guide contact on the hacked pcb?

Yup. Just make sure the end of the diode with the marked band is on the side of the home screw terminal.

I don’t want to be rude or anything but can someone take a look at my diagram and see if that would be correct please and thank you

Sorry about that lion. I personally dont have experience in hacking this type of pad but your diagram appears to be organized. As far as your previous question about the grounds, as long as the pad is a common ground pad (meaning that all the grounds on the pad are connected) you should be fine placing the grounds where ever you like. Make sure you have a multimeter and go one step at a time; you should be good, hope this helps.

Thats what I was unsure off whether the Dualshock 2 is common ground or not, from what I believed was Start, Select and Analog had 1 ground, which all three r supposed to be connected to and All the other buttons had another ground which all of them where connected to. Thats the only thing I needed cleared up.

Thanks

O ok. Im not trying to volunteer your money but you might want to buy a multimeter and test which grounds are connected to which, by doing a continuity test; it just takes a little practice with the multimeter that should slove your issue.

Thanks Toodles. It worked like a charm the only bad news is I think I fluffed up by burning out the small little guide contact patch. I should have soddered the other end of the diode to the larger contact area of the guide. Think I ruined it. I conducted another voltage test on the Home terminal without the diode screwed to the SMD and the voltage stayed at 4.94 when start and select was/wasnt pressed. So, do I hack another or can I trace a line with a pencil?

I tried to paste a picture of a fightpad diagram but it didnt work.

I am curious.

I will be making a stick using a ps360. However, I also want the stick compatable with ps1/ps2. I’m wondering if it would be possible to hack a ps2 pad, wire it to the ps360 and have all of that business go to the neutrik port. Using the severed ps2 cord, I would somehow attach a usb at the end of the thing to have it plug into the outside of the neutrik port on the outside of the stick.

I would really like this thing to all go through that one neutrik, so when I’m done playing whatever there’s no ugly cords hanging off my stick. I’ve never hacked a pad, so maby I’m a little ambitious with this one.

It’s a little ambitious for a first project, but it’s not impossible to do without experience. Just take your time, follow directions, and make sure you understand fully what you’re trying to do before doing it.

You want to do it with RJ-45 cables, not through a USB nuetrik adapter.

Read this thoroughly, and decide whether you’re capable. You can also get questions answered in that thread.

did you intend on linking me a thread, or did you mean for me to keep sifting through this thread?

but im thinking two ports would be fine(neutrik, rj-45), i just want my cables to be detachable. (they get in the way, and i tend to trip over them more often than not)

Yup, here:

And you don’t want a Nuetrik and Rj-45. Just the RJ-45. You can mod a USB cable to work fine with that port and be detachable as well.

that thread is gold. much appreciated good sir.

Something strange is happening to my set up my 3p on the chimpSMD is causing it to change modes from PS3 to Xbox and vice versa. Did I ruin my ChimpSMD?

I dont understand what you mean.

Long explanation but: I unsoldered my 360 PCB to make the job neater. I resoldered the PCB and began a button test by playing a game. When I pressed all of the buttons it resulted in an input. However when I pressed LB or LT, it made the ChimpSMD switch from xbox mode to PS3 mode. I’ll try to clarify if this explanation didn?t.

I?m thinking maybe I ruined the 360 pad because I was doing some scrapping in the area of the guide button in an attempt to locate another contact area for a guide input. I don?t think I?m supposed to be able to press a button and switch modes am I, lol?

I need a mini screw extractor kit to get the stripped screws out of a Dual Shock 1, but what for what size? What brand should I get?

I don’t want to spend too much because all I plan on doing is swapping out the rubber piece under the d-pad with another one that isn’t as mushy.

Any help appreciated.

Hey guys, i got a question about an xbox 360 pcb. I have black wired controller which has a chrome home button, its part of the xbox 360 slim line. My question is: What kind of pcb am i dealing with? I dont want to take it apart just yet (gonna mod in 2 weeks) but i wanna be prepared. Is the pcb this?

Hey guys, so I posted a few months back asking about the triggers in the Xbox360 Afterglow controllers, and I just thought I’d let you know I did some experimenting and the Madcatz trigger hack works for these controllers. I’m not sure if any parts involved are unnecessary but it works perfectly for me!

I need some help with a Madcatz fightpad, I just need some advice on how to cut the cord down, I tried asking a couple people if they could do it for me but they would not help me out. Said it was too easy of a job to bother with lol. I can wire up pcb’s no problem but I have never shortened a cord and I really do not want to have to buy 2 pads lol.

Do you cut the cord at the usb end? Or do you remove the cord from the pcb (and re-solder) and trim from there? Also if anyone wants to make some cash and do this for me I would gladly pay somebody to do this , I will even pay for a new pad and for you to do the cord I would do that aswell. I need this asap as my B15 cases should be here soon and I need this to play.

  • take note of how the cable is soldered on the pcb (Which colors go where)

  • De-solder the cable at the pcb.

  • Cut and strip the cord to desired length

  • re attach wires at pcb exactly how they were to begin with.

Why exactly do you need to shorten this cord?
