*The "padhacking" thread*

So i went out and bought the madcatz 4716 but its the 2009 model thats different from slagcoins. is there an updated pcb map laying around somewhere?

Take a pic and put it up here and I’ll tell you if there are differences.

Heres what i did. Turns out its the same thing. im going to wire a harness into it for easy disconnect. At this point its all tested and all 4 joystick directions are 100% working. Now im just waiting on my buttons to get here from LizardLick.

The Whole Pad

Contacts Labeled.

And this is what im re-purposing as a case for this whole ordeal :wgrin:

http://ak1.ostkcdn.com/images/products/P10665790.jpg has anyone dual-modded this model of a 360 controller?

I’m interested in trigger hacking the older model wired xbox360 controller (Microsoft) can anyone give me some links with info on how to do it and what I would do. Thanks for the help thus far.

PS I actually want to use the buttons, not just remove them. Lastly, they are Sanwa buttons.

I do not want to remove them either. I want them to work. No one seems to have acknowledged my question. Here is a video of the mod I have attempted. This has worked on a pc for me but not on my 360.

Anyone know where the 5v is on a BB-070 Gamestop pad is? Can’t find it on the forums or Google, and slagcoin doesn’t have a picture of the PCB.

Halp :(.

If it’s a USB controller, it’s whatever the red wire from the USB cord is leading into.

Awesome, that’s what I thought, but I just wasn’t sure.

Thank you very much kind sir.

Does anyone know how well the playstation to usb adapters work? I want to get into making fight sticks, but I don’t want to start with a big project and I have a huge surplus of ps1 controllers.

Also, is there to mod the ps1 controller to work without an adapter?

Whats up everyone. Im having an issue with my PS3 TE stick which I recently dual modded using a Chimp SMD and hacked xbox fight pad. When I test the stick in PS3 mode using a computer I am able to get the guide/home input when I press start + select. However, when in xbox mode start + select gives me a ->(right directional) input. Besides this issue, the stick works fine in both modes. Any suggestions?

Also note that I no longer have the original home/guide button that comes installled in the TE because I burned out the TE PCB.

My suggestion is that I’m an idiot. You’re not the first person to mention this but somehow your combination of words there finally got it through to my head. I doublechecked, and it is a bug in the firmware.
Here’s the new firmware with the bug fixed.

Download and flash the firmware on the ChimpSMD, and that problem should fix right up.

TY Toodles, Ill try it now.

Thanks again the update worked like a charm. In PS3 mode Im getting: start+select= guide/home. However, in xbox mode Im getting just start and select but no home/guide. Was the ChimpSMD created to give you guide in xbox mode?

I hope you’re testing on an actual 360; the guide button doesn’t show up on the PC.

Yes I am testing it on a 360. The interesting thing is that when I press start+select it will turn the 360 on, but I cant bring up the guide.

DS2 Padhack Attempt

Hi, this is my first padhack attempt, before I got started I wanted to make sure I could get advice on what I was doing.

I like to plan out what I am going to do so I made this diagram, I would like some feed back on it. If anyone has padhacked an A Series Dualshock 2 please tell me if I am doing something wrong.

Sorry If its kinda messy

Also when chaining the ground wires, does it matter what order it is done? or I can do it in any order as long as it ends up in ground.

Thanks in advance

Check the Home screw terminal with a multimeter; the voltage on it should be low when Start and Select are pressed, and high when not. I’m curious at this point if the xbox360 pad thinks the Guide is always held down, or what.

In xbox360 mode: when start and select are pressed home voltage is 0. When buttons are not pressed home voltage is 4.94

That sounds like exactly what it should be. I’m stumped, I can’t think of a reason why it shouldn’t be working them. If you have easy access to a cheap diode, you could try to put one between the Home screw terminal and the Guide signal on the 360 pad. The leg of the diode with the band should be on the Home screw terminal side. Other than that, I don’t know why it wouldn’t work.
