*The "padhacking" thread*

The contact should be connected to a Trace.
Scrape lightly at the green Trace and solder to the good stuff underneath.

Wouldn’t that cut the trace? So to clarify I scratch it just enough to remove the top layer, but not strong enough to cut it.

I don’t want you to cut the Trace.
I want you to scratch the green stuff to reveal the copper underneath.

Alright cool, thanks a bunch.

Also, what connectors fit to concave happ buttons? Same as sanwa?

Not same as Sanwa.
Need .187" Quick Disconnect for Happ.

Ah, alright thank you.

PS2 to PS3 & PC USB Controller Converter Adapter Cable - eBay (item 320534650376 end time Aug-16-10 00:44:05 PDT)

Is this viable for PS1 to PS3?

This is the highly recommended.

And that works with PS1 pads as well?

You can use PlayStation with it, yes.

Ok, so I’m gonna scrape off some of the black stuff and then solder where it was?

Yes.

Ok I’m pretty sure this is the place to say this. Today I wired/soldered a madcatz 360 pad to my cthulhu MC pcb following the layout given by the very makers of the PCB, after hours of articulate soldering and multimeter checking the following happened:

  1. The xbox controller does not even turn on
  2. The PCB it self is no longer recognized or gives me a error when I plug it in.

I’m at my wits end and I don’t know what to do. Everything is wired like it should be after double and even triple checking.

First post of the Cthulhu thread has a link for a troubleshooting guide. Start there.

Hey guys, I am late to the party (so apologies if the answer is already here) anyone got a diagram and advise/guidance with hacking an official ā€˜wireless’ xbox 360 pad???

Thanks in advance

Diagrams for you.

No advice or guidance though.

Thanks man!

im doing a 360 padhack (wireless, early version) and ive almost gotten to the point of being able to fit it into a case (the pcb i mean) however, im unsure as to how i would go about adding wires to the battery connection so it will work without having to have a wire plugged in all the time.

i cant really fit the PCB around the edge of the case (so as to have the battery part showing through a hole in the side) due to the wires on the pcb, so my only way of doing it is to solder some wires onto the battery connector and have them running to the edge of the case.

is there any guide that can help me or some good detailed pictures etc as i am pretty much a total noob doing this kinda thing. thanks in advance!

you have to desolder the coil wires from the pcb and run wires in their place. Next you cut the battery compartment out of the back of the old controller case. hot glue the coil wires back in place, make sure to leave room for them to compress the batteries. next solder the wires from the pcb to the coil wires that you just hot glued. you can now use a AA battery pack with your wireless controller.

This pad is a pain in the ***, but not as bad as the ps3 pads. It can be deceiving in the sence that a number of buttons share a common ground, but not all the buttons. The easiest thing to do with this pad is to wire a signal and ground for each button. Another neat thing about this controller is the ease at which you can hack the analog sticks, just use the center of the three holes on each axis as a common for the high and low and it will work great.
