*The "padhacking" thread*

I padhacked a dreamcast controller and tested the connection to the wires on the buttons and joystick. However, the trigger buttons do not work. Even more interesting, if do not hold one of the trigger buttons, the joystick and a,b,x, and y do not respond. Can anyone post the wiring of the dreamcat pad pcb to the buttons and joystick? Also, Can anyone elaborate how to hack the trigger buttons?

quick question about this pad:

the points that are labeled ā€œGROUND,ā€ how is that different from the others that are labeled ā€œCOMMONā€?

would it be alright if i were to daisy chain the buttons through COMMON or GROUND?

or is this pcb not common ground at all?

i have the tvc tournament stick anyway i can dual mod it with a ps3 pad? or does anyone have a better controller i can dual mod it with for ps3?

hey guys, i’m putting a full panel plexi on my TE and i’m removing the turbo/guide plate. i’m just going to wire the back button as my guide. Is it just a straight forward hack? i checked out the pcb, the connections looks smaller than usual and i don’t want to screw anything up. Also, is it ok to just tuck the pcb in the corner, will it interfere with the joystick?(i’m probably using an LS-32-01 or a LS-56-01)

THat pcb has a common, but that common line is not ground. That’s why there are spots circled in red as ā€˜common’, and a bunch of other spots circled in pink as ā€˜ground’.

You can’t use a wireless PS3 pad for a number of technical reasons (well, not with a bunch of assitional supporting electronics). You’ll need a common ground PS3 controller; Cthulhu is one possibility, the pcb from a bunch of other PS3 sticks could work as well.

It’s kinda important to know if its a PS3 TE or a 360 TE.

oh sorry, it’s an xbox 360.

Sorry to ask a basic question, but is there a list of preferred pads to hack from or a list of which ones are common ground somewhere?

just to recap:

everything that’s of the same color as the common (all the buttons labeled in red) can be daisy chained.

but when i’m actually connecting the GROUND wire to another pcb (for a dual modd), i use the pink labeled points?

Not a common ground board, so avoid trying to dual mod it or do any of the other usuall mods like light up LED mods. Installing it into a stick by itself, sure, you can diasy chain it on the buttons, but do not try to install it with anything else. And powered joysticks, like p360, sanwa flash, etc, are right out.

You can remove the LED board entirely from the stick if its the 360 version. I’d recommend removing the ribbon cables connecting the main board to the LED board by unplugging them from the main board. Unscrew the two screws holding the board to the case, and keep the pcb in the little plastic housing. Set the whole thing aside, but definitely keep it.
The kicker is though that you’d have to solder a wire to the guide point on the main pcb, and run that wire to the rear, formerly ā€˜select’, switch.
Please be aware you also have the option of buying an Imp solely for the purpose of using the Select+Start=Guide functionality. It’s a bit more soldering, but if you care to solder 5 wires to the main pcb (power, ground, guide, select, and start), and connect those to the Imp, then your Select and Start will work as normal, and pressing both will activate ā€˜Guide’ for you. Little extra soldering for more functionality if you choose.

Hey guys, i wondered if you ever heard of this sort of issue.
I am basically piggybacking this pad http://slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/ps1_diagram4.jpg on my TE, for a Ps1/ps3 stick (i want the ps1 for 3s, and as well as using xconvertor for xbox360.)
By piggybacking, i mean just soldering onto the existing quick disconnects and having it sit like that.
So i have everything hooked up. now the issues start.
if i start 3s, it works fine and dandy. But then, as soon as i go to press something, it basically acts as if there are multiple button presses (most of them coming from the start/select/reset game combination which is a piss off). i am using the stock TE ground terminal for a single ground point (on L1, it is not in use if anyone was wondering).
This is really irritating me, but i was wondering if anyone has run into the same issue?
I used the ps1 pad through my convertor for ps3 as well, and it too was acting all crazy.
is there maybe a problem with the pcb itself? it was working as a controller before i did this, and everything was fine and dandy, but for some reason, it’s acting waaay out of whack now. could it be that the controller is just dead now?
This is really irritating…

thanks for the help toodles, i’ll consider my options.

so i end up doing this a quick and dirty way, i matched up the wires in the ribbon cables that corresponded to the ground and guide button, then i cut them and connected them to the back button, and then just removed the led board. i was wondering though, what about the setting for directional input? ls, dp, rs. if you remove the board is it dp by default?

Hate to ask this, but searching for it is a bit wonky. I have this Microsoft 360 controller (the wired common-ground model) and I’m wondering if I need to use an inverter or the resistor method to make the triggers function as analogue buttons.

Does anyone have a diagram for the x360 sf4 pad??? I heard it is the easiest one to pad hack. Can some pm me the link??? Thanks for the help.

Cooler to help publicly.
Everyone can see.

I just bought a few PS1 DS controllers for modding purposes. I was wondering if removing the motor wires and shoulder button boards would mess up the main pcb?

You should check your connections again if they aren’t touching each other. That PCB you’re using has compatibility issues with converters that hook up to a PS3 and there’s only a few that are compatible with PS1 digital controllers.

not about streetfighter but padhacking

hey guys i know this isn’t street fighter but i didn’t know where else to go, and it more or less pad hacking. i’ve done searches for drivers and pad-hacking on them but i haven’t found much at all. so here is my question.

i have this here.

i saw this on clearance for dirt and thought this would be great for my kids, and what i want to do is make it work on pc. so i was thinking can i piggy back a madcats 360 common ground or a Cthulhu board to this? or is there a better way? so i figured i ask the pros.

here are shots of the pcb.

again any help or advice would be greatly appreciated. lol when it’s done i guess it can go into the worst fight-stick thread.

I’m sure this has been asked 100 times but:
Can someone link a wireless 360 padhacking guide?

I’ve found several through searching but they’re all either vague, partially incomplete, or dealing with a dual mod. :shake:
