*The "padhacking" thread*

it is the first one below the signal one so it is like this hope it helps.

I modded the triggers with 2 10k resistors…my 4817 pad is a version E…do I need to use an NPN transistor?

is there a way to get a psx digital to connect to a ps3 without using an adaptor? like say, soldering the usb to the pcb?

don’t think so you need adapter for the system to recognize the controller.

Is that for the 30 mm sanwa push buttons? There was only 2 terminals on the bottom of it.

Also i picked up my third psx controller to mod. For soldering, is it better to bend the wire as an L shape for it to touch more parts of the pcb? Im using this model http://slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/ps1_diagram9.jpg and for the grounds on this model do i have to scratch off the green part of the pcb too?

it doesn’t matter which terminal you connect ground or signal to because the button is open circuit. all it does when you press down on the button is close the circuit(connects the current from the ground to the signal) so it doesnt matter which side either is on. And yes just scratch off to expose copper.

tyvm!

no problem my friend hopefully this means you got your pad hacked alright because i did not want you to have to pay shipping

Hey guys, dunno if this is the right place to post, but here is the info,
A friend of mine can get 50 MadCatz retro arcade Sticks for an easy XBox360 hack or a multi console solution. Also as u all know these pcbs are easy to solder. The problem is i have to take the whole bunch. But thats far to much money iam willing to spend.
It would be round about 23 ?uros p.P… Maybe anyone got an idea how to manage such an amount. Or do you think its to much money?
As I know they are not available anymore.

Please tell me what u think.
Thanks for the time and sorry for my lousy english.

How is he able to get you such a large quantity of something that is basically extinct

Hello everyone, sorry for my noobiness, but is there a thead or guide that really goes in to depth on how to padhack a Wired 360 controller? I want to build a custom stick but I’m absolutely clueless on how to padhack. I know the locations to solder, but idk how I would go about from connecting the buttons and stick to the pcb.

He found an closed shop with some leftovers (50 in this case). The shop as he told me, bought them as phased out models.

Thats all i know.
cheers

Doesn’t really seem worth it. They are valued for being cheap and easy to solder too. However, 23 Euro is not cheap for them. Plus, I don’t think there are 50 stick modders in all of Europe, so shipping to the US would kill the deal further. BTW, 23 Euro is about 30 USD.

Current PCB

I am working on the above pcb and I am not sure where the signals are for the triggers. Does anyone know if they share the same current ground or are in the same location as the other Madcatz pcb.

Other Madcatz PCB

Please and thank you SRK.

thx for your opinion.

Okay, I see. So I am going to leave them where they are.
So u think there are less than 50 ppl building Sticks here in Europe?
OMG that would be a shame. But thats off topic I guess.
But would be interesting to know how many ppl are building here in Europe. I do!
So I count as one :).

Does anyone know the smallest common ground 360 pcb? I want to use an Imp and cthulu board to put in my custom stick to bring to evo, but my stick box is pretty small (slightly bigger than an EX2 maybe?) and I need something small so I can fit all three PCB’s in there.

I think
-the madcatz 4716 late version is the smallest (133-62-26 mm), but it depends how u can manage them to fit.
-the madcatz retro is 110x90x26 mm.
-the MS common is 135x65x26 (save up to 18mm height).
You can exclude the analogs to save height. I think at least 10mm.
Dunno if there are any other existing boards…

is it possible to double a button? (x360)

My friend was thinking of doubling the trigger if possible to customise his box with 2 sided button for Pinball game.

is it hard to double the trigger?

if the trigger is a problem, is it possible to double any button by just setting up a second wire.

i am modding a non common ground 360 pcb for a friend and he wants a happ stick. where do i cut the traces on the stick and solder the ground points so i can finish this mod?

i think the happ sticks have cherry microswitches. i wont need to cut the traces then if they are?

what does the common, common, common mean. what is the ground in the middle for?

  • answered my own question:

“when a ground is not the actual ground, it is labeled common, which is short for common line, ie they have a common connection. Commons function in the same way as grounds. Different commons are labeled in different colors. Some ground/commons may circle points that look empty; this suggests that the ground/common covers many areas and the spot can be scratched for an attachment point.”
