*The "padhacking" thread*

anything about the directions?

I know it’s probably too late, but do you have any shots of how he did the trigger wiring?

I’ve got a question for those that used the Late Version Madcatz pads to hack for the 360… The cord in this thing is hella short… Is there anything I can use to extend the length?

Thanks again!

Any usb extension cable will work fine, or you can just desolder the cord from the controller and splice in your own usb cord if you’ve got a long one laying around.

^sweet… thanks for the info!!

Do they sell USB cable at RadioShack? I can’t find it on their website and I really don’t need a 50’ spool from pacificcable.com

go to MONOPRICE.COM. This is the first and last place you ever need to know for all standard cables. Best price, best service, fast shipping and QUALITY parts at an affordable price.

Wow, thanks for the tip. I’ll gladly pay $2 for a 15 foot usb cable and snip the ends off.

a lil hint for everyone looking for a common ground xbox 360 pad:
try to get the “Saitek px3200 rumble pad” (or just p3200)

just replaced my old ps1 pcb with this one. bought it from amazon for around 25?

ive seached and couldnt find where a 3.3/5v is on a Hori t5 pcb and a capcom jam hrap pcb. How do i go about trying to find it myself? I assume ill need to get a multimeter. But then what? Thanks to slagcoin i dont have this issue with pads! lol
thanks

My custom joystick will input the up command every 10 min or so for no reason. I have tried to track it down by re daisy chaining my grounds. Still no luck Im stumped. Any suggestions?

Hey, quick question for anyone who’s hacked a late version madcatz 360 pad-

I just finished doing this for the first time, and everything works great except the guide button.
The slagcoin diagram here http://slagcoin.com/joystick/pcb_diagrams/360_diagram3.jpg shows the right side of the contact point being signal, but my multimeter shows both as being ground (or at least both complete a cricuit with the common ground point). I’ve got it wired up using the right side of the contact, but the guide button does not work at all. Also, when I plug it in, it says “turning off the console will also turn off all controllers”, which leads me to believe something’s up with the guide button. Anybody have any experience or advice on this?

Thanks

I’ve soldered the right side of the guide button, and mine seems to be working. The only thing I can think of is possibly the contacts are touching somehow?

Check then double check your soldering on the guide contact. I think you may have overdone it a touch on the Guide contact and accidentally created a dual solder point covering signal and ground. Get yourself some de-soldering braid and/or a solder sucker. Remove the solder and re-do.

This question probably has been answered everywhere in this forum, but I don’t have time to take in-depth looks with my current schedule.

I play on 360, friend asked me to make him a PS3 stick. What’s the best PS3 Pad to use that is wired. No go on Wireless sticks. Pretty sure any PC Pad works on PS3 right? If that’s true, what’s the commonly used pad for those.

Apologies.

ok i checked to see if my sixaxis and ps3 DS had the ribbon connectors so i can do the DIY ps3 adapter and fortunately for me they both have em…

but i then decided to go back into my box of pads and consoles and i found a ps1 H and a ps2 H… now on slagcoin it says PlayStation 2 Dual Shock H (Avoid) but i decided to take a look inside just for kicks and i realized it too had a ribbon connector my first question is…

a) why does it say AVOID (with no real explanation as to why)
b) can i do the DIY adapter mod on it?

I got a lovely “reconnect controller” message on my xbox last night. Fabulous.

Now I have to open it up and check all the USB cable lines. Too bad for me I cut into the stock wire leads on my madcatz controller to add a USB jack I could plug in to. More points of failure to check!

It was intermittent the disconnection problem… but all of the internals never move and the USB jack connections are hotglued in place. Jiggling the USB wire didn’t seem to have an effect on it fixing itself so i really am at a loss.

the best thing for you to do is to get a cthulu pcb from Toodles, works both for ps3 and pc…

hello, i have an xbox360 official (wired controller) is there a diagram that shows where to solder?

I have been searching with no luck.
