Common grounds cut your wiring in half and allow you to use the wire harness for JLF and LS-32-01 sticks.
Hi Guys,
Anyone have a link to a tutorial for hacking a psx pad with CAT5/RJ-45 cable for the wiring?
I have a custom stick that I bought a few years ago that has this setup, but need the tutorial to make some repairs.
Thanks!
Kenshiro
I GOT IT TO WORK!!!
Rewired the ground differently and now all the buttons are working properly, I donāt need a cthulu anymore! To the adapter thread with me!
no prob man, glad I could help !
pressing trigger causes a problem on analog sticks
hey guys,
iāve just modded a madcatz xbox 360 stick. I have the triggers working, however, after pressing the LT a few times, the button would stop working and the left and right analog sticks get stuck on the down and right position for some reason. This can be reset by unplugging the stick. This doesnāt happen however when RT is pressed.
What could be the possible problem? I extensively tested the controller before modding it. I do not have any stray solders or anything as i have extensively inspected the board. Iāve tried replacing the resistor and its not the problem. Should i try turning the wipers off the analog sticks, however i doubt thatās the problem.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks a lot
I need some debugging help as well - Iāve got my NPN transistor set up wired on my MadCatz controller for both triggers, and it appears to work fine. However, from time to time all of my buttons stop working. No button press results in any action, unless I also hold down a trigger button. Then, with one of the trigger buttons held down, I can press a button and have that button behave normally. The trigger itself doesnāt activate, however - verified in Windows. If both triggers are held down, nothing happens. No Z-axis activity at all in Windows when the pad is malfunctioning in this way - it stays at neutral 50%.
Now, this isnāt a permanent thing - sometimes all buttons work normally, and sometimes they require the trigger to be engaged. What does this mean? None of my wires are crossing another as far as I can tell - Iāve wrapped each individual leg of the NPN transistor in electrical tape to ensure that. What could be causing this intermittent malfunction? Thanks for any help!
Test it out on a PC, and see if you can get a screen shot of how the control panel properties behave when it goes into this kind of fit. Also, if you can, try to get an idea of what the LEDs around the guide button are doing. Iām wondering if the power is getting cut or intermittantly shorting.
When I run into this problem, the control panel doesnāt have anything unusual - all axes centered, no buttons engaged. The 1P guide light remains on. When I hold a trigger button plus any other button, that button lights up, but the Z-Axis (trigger axis) remains centered.
Giving the stick a good solid thwack seems to solve the problem when it crops up, so I think I must be grounding some wire or other, but I canāt see any crossings, and Iām not sure which wire(s) would be at fault.
Edit: Just wired up my directions, and my left and down directions (the first two links on my ground microswitch chain along the pushbuttons, closest to the direct link to the pad common ground) always work no matter what. Maybe my second buttonās ground is not very secure, and the trigger being held down provides an alternate ground connection (through the transistor) ?
Edit 2: Yep, the third link in the ground chain was pretty weak, so I think that was the issue.
Since the search dont work can someone help me outā¦I just got an EX2 stick w/ madcatz pcbā¦I turned it on but the buttons dont work but the stick movesā¦I notice some of the wires came off the pcb from the shipping & i may have to resolder it againā¦
Hereās the problem i never solder before so im hoping you guys can provide me some quick infoā¦
- What soldering iron should i buy & where?
- What wires should i buy & where?
- The buttons are Sanwa so which quick disconnect should i buy?
Also any thing i should avoid not doing while soldering?
- I use Rosin-Core Lead Free solder
- 22-gauge Hookup Wire works great for me, Radioshack sells them
- .187 size disconnects should fit nice and easy
What you donāt want to do while you got the Iron in hand is obviously donāt touch yourself with it and also donāt let it touch other wires cause it will start burning.
BTW I found a white GameStop controller itās just like the black one that been seen around, does anyone know if itās common ground?
Advice needed
Hi all,
Iāve taken Jessterās advice and bought a newer version of wired 360 controller and updated my connection diagram. Can someone please give me some advice on whether my idea is gonna work or not? Thanks in advance.
Here are some of my questions:
- whatās RC and LC points on the 360 pcb? are these 2 point required to be connected in order to get 360 working?
- Am I connecting the common (red line) correctly for the stick, button, hori pcb and 360 pcb?
- Will the 360 board get powered properly? because I planned to share hori fs3ās usb cable with the 360 pcb.
legend for my diagram
blue line: signal
red line: common
yellow line: +5v
pink line: ground
anyone have any experience using the xbox360 sf4 fightpads for padhacking? ill probaby end up attemting to padhack since i cant find a fightstick or hrap ex.
does anyone know whether hacking a ps3 pad is a good idea or would a ps2 controller be easier and just use the adapter?
I need an alternate solder point for the signal pad on the newly revised madcatz 360 wired pcb
For PS3 go with a Cthulhu board. Available at LizardLick
For 360 pcbs whats the best one to get? Are the late wired microsoft brand ones the same commons as the late wireless? I wanted to get a madcatz on ebay but im not sure if id get the early or late models.
I ordered one off ebay with no problems. Contact the seller if you want to make sure and just check the picture to see if it says Gamespot on the right handle.
Be warned though, apparently there is a new revision to the PCBā¦ which hasnāt been mapped out yet?
Because on slagcoinās site, it shows one with gamestop in red and white letters showing its the new pcb, and the old one says it in a round symbol, and those are the only ones i see on ebay
So theres no way to tell what one this is? I really dont want another pcb with no commons, already have a microsoft wired old model
