The Orlando Thread: We Have The Life Lead, So We're Going To Chill!

I am down for tonight if you are available.

Hey man. Sure ill help you, are you doing lamali label or Plexiglas for your TE? No need for cash though. I’m free sunday’s, sometime after 11am would be good. let me know what time is good for you on that day.

Edit:

Also if you aren’t familiar with tex innovations take a look. http://www.tek-innovations.com/arthobbies/?loc=products&cat=1

Edit Again:

Just so you know laminated stickers will wear away overtime. You will have to replace the art every so often. Just though I’d warn you about that.

Session Canceled due to real life shit coming up!!!

Plus the weather is fucking terrible!!!

Sorry dudes hopefully nobody is on there way :frowning:

@ Senkei:

Yeah, I figured as much, given that it let off a nasty thunderclap as soon as I sat down to type this. No biggie.

How practical is it for you to roll through Nestor’s tomorrow? BBCS is pretty much guaranteed to be there, plus you can teach Nestor’s Hazama and Carlos’ Hakumen how to almost not get eaten by bees.

Yeah my Sticks with my custom art have been fading and tearing. Thanks for linking this site Rico. I may actually order one from there. It’s basically a complete replacement for the top part right? Do they have any problems with street fighter art or it has to be non licensed?

Sunday is fine. I would like to do plexi glass since that would be higher quality right? I don’t know what time yet since I have a football game that morning at 9…But I will know by Saturday

yea, the weather today is actually terrifying

on another note Def considering hosting a tourney here in Orlando. Ssf4 and modern warfare are there of course. Were considering smash brothers. Is the blaz blue community big enough to warrant a tourney? It’ll prolly be septemberish…gotta talk to my boys to figure out location foods set ups ect. I’ll keep yall updated.

Finally got BlazBlue (Calm down, Rico) and ready to be a beast in this game. Senkei, we need to get a Arakune session going on. Positive I’m going to learn plenty from you. As for right now, I’m just examining the game mechanics because this is semi-new to me.

Doesnt playing different fighting games fuck you up in in other games? Like when I used to heavily play mv2 and sf4 I would dash wrong in sf or try to focus attack in mv2 stupid shit like that lol. That’s y I haven’t picked up blaz blue

In New Orleans tonight. Will be back in Orlando tomorrow evening. Houston was amazing. They have an arcade there called Planet Zero with SF4 and SSF4 (ps3) inside viewlix cabinets. More importantly they have purikura and a perfect condition Pop’n Music 14. Some guy knocked an abel player off an 8 win streak, but they got hands laid on him.

Want my Advice. Super and BBCS are the only way to go right now. Then again what do I know about running tournaments in Orlando.

Another note, Brett, awesome you’re checking out all of the country, Stay Safe. As for Planet Zero… http://shoryuken.com/content/planet-zero-announces-final-sbo-2010-roster-amidst-controversy-1370/

And to Rico, I’m terrible at modding and such. I simply want to send in my artwork to tek- and have them print it on a plexi or whatever cover I need to replace the top part of my TE S. Mind pointing me in the right direction.

Thanks.

^thanks yea I’m thinking ssf4 bbcc and madden 11…super smash brothers attacts the kiddies and the game is pretty gay =p. I’m also considering halo reach but who knows at this point me and my boy have to decide on a place to host it at. I wanna do it at my other boys pizza place but he’s considering other things so idk yet

The game is difficult to understand at first if you never played Guilty Gear (if you DID play Guilty Gear, it’s fairly easy to understand as a slower version of that game with more permissive untechable time and OTGs). It doesn’t really play like any kind of Capcom game save TvC, and even then there are some fairly big differences in game flow (rapid tech scaling for light/medium attacks in air combos, for one; you can’t really slow-dial very many multi-hit air combos the way you can in Marvel/TvC without the opponent teching).

Best thing to do coming into BB more or less cold is to do a lot of homework (via dustloop.com forums) and play the hell out of the in-game Challenge mode. Most of the combos they teach you in that mode are surprisingly practical (compared to SF4 challenge combos), and of course they have built-in demonstration videos to demonstrate the subtleties of these combos without needing to go to YouTube.

Even with Senkei’s help, you’re gonna need to do a LOT of homework to get far in BBCS. Senkei only makes Arakune LOOK easy; he’s nowhere near the touch-of-death beast he was in Calamity Trigger. He’s just so shitty before he gets fever going that you pretty much HAVE to be able to lock down and kill anyone you meet within a single curse, because if they survive the curse, YOU might not survive to curse them again.

They don’t have problems with shit that’s licensed.

If you order the plexi glass it will take 2 weeks to get to you so no worries with you missing the football game. lol

Edit
The plexiglass has a raised edge on it. No one has complained about my stick being uncomfortable(it has plexiglass) so I assume it’s comfortable for almost everyone. That’s something you should also be aware of though. If your not sure or want to try it out just play on my stick at one of the gatherings…No Homo

Here is a good tutorial.
http://shoryuken.com/f177/how-add-custom-art-your-te-fightstick-swap-simple-options-186905/
Just put put the plexi on top of the art and screw down basically. Do note that if you putting in new buttons be sure to file down the tabs so that the plexi doesn’t crack

Far as I know you just lay the plexi over the top of the art, though I wouldn’t know as I went with lamilabel.

Should’ve had that shit checked for typos before I paid money to get it printed though…
Oh well, I’m ripping the face off again when I get to doing RJ45 anyway…
Either way, @Dro, the art and button swap was a pretty fun experience and aside from being tedious its mad easy. If you’re really shook about doing it yourself, FlameIce is in fact the man, can’t stress that enough after he drove some 30 miles out of his way to install the Cthulu and Imp on my TE, otherwise bite the bullet and do it yourself.

The tutorial mode for BB:CS is actually really good as well. A majority of it consists of basic fighting game concepts that we all understand to some degree, but there are character-specific tutorials that tell you how each character plays and what their good moves are for different situations. Coming into BB with some Guilty Gear experience, I actually learned more about how to properly play Hazama through the in-game Tutorial and Challenge modes than through personal intuition and limited reading of Dustloop.

Thanks flame ice lol yea I will order that and hit you up when I get it. Next time we all get together to play I’ll try out one of your sticks…I’m not too worried since I’m still getting used to arcade sticks in general lol

Nestor or Carlos, you hosting today?

And if so, before I head out, does ANYBODY else in Orlando have Dark Awake a.k.a. Chaos Breaker for PSN? This game is surprisingly awesome and easy to pick up, I think people around here would have a lot of fun with it.

(As for the MAN Orlando, sorry my brother couldn’t hook you up, but he really is tapped out on gameshares; he’s constantly going halfsies on stuff with our old friend + people on the Internet.)

bloJgef8l3g]YouTube - [ Chaos Breaker <— this dude is the SHIT, I need to learn that loop.
