The Orlando Thread: We Have The Life Lead, So We're Going To Chill!

If they need systems with DLC I can provide for both PS3 and X-Box. If you want to see how Makoto plays just hit me up on the X-Box or just look at replays. There isn’t too much on You Tube at the moment.

Yeah, I would expect as much. Oh well, one less matchup for my brother to worry about.

As for what the squirrel can do:

“Around 6k meterless” is the smartass answer.

That’s not a loop, just a glitchy combo that lasts a long-ass time before she finally gets pushed out. She actually does pretty good damage without the loop, too; she’s a simple, aggressive rushdown character with a lot of combo tools. (And no, despite that loop there’s no indication that she’s broken. Until further notice she’s regarded as tourney legal.)

Do i smell fear! Lol

It’s kind of early to say what she can really do. The best examples on how she is played is too look at replays of good players.

@GoogleMyName

Please contact the tournament organizer and consider my idea for bringing the setups with the DLC. I really want to help the community and all the peeps that want to play this game. It’s important that people can play with there character.

More like disappointment when they inevitably don’t have her available for play. I can’t speak for event staff but I have my doubts as to whether they’ll let you bring your PS3 in simply to play her as well (if only because this is a con tourney, they’re not nearly as free-form or adaptable as community-run tournaments because they’re part of a still-larger event and they have more to answer for in terms of how they get things organized and done).

Ben nailed it in much nicer words than I would put. Getting them to allow arcade sticks was hell enough. Don’t bother bringing your own setups. They won’t allow it. This isn’t a community run tourney. They have to be quick and efficient on time and keep it simple.

Hey, Alex, Trent and I are thinking about crashing the AFO tournament, but we don’t want to pay the $35. We don’t care about the anime events or want to buy cupcakes shaped like Pickachu. Can you get us in?

Aversion to anime-related events is a perfectly healthy instinct. (Me and Jeff are mostly going for the dealer’s room, and neither of us will have pink hair or a foam sword along the way.)

That said, I would gladly accept any delicious cupcake offered to me, no matter which Pokemon it might resemble. Cake is cake.

lol paying 35 dollars for the opportunity to buy more stuff makes me lol. It’s like xbox live but only for a weekend lol.

On a side note for those not going to afo I’ll be hostin per usual but won’t be starting till about 4.

The Orlando Thread: We Tech Throws. Our Arcade Sticks Don’t

Goddamn. Why is Ben so wise? That’s it. I’m growing my beard out.

Been out of the scene for a min

The tourney tomorrow is on 360?

EDIT: nevermind, can’t go anyways.

im looking for tournies/ casuals to show up to or something, anyone suggest a shop of some sort or?

hey Ben check your PM box I gotta quick question???

It’s not the fact that they are “anime abundent” events, it’s that you’re paying 35 bucks to enter this place to play in a tournament that probably won’t have a prize, or be recorded. By all means, if you’re into walking around and waving at people, I had fun at the one I went to in the convention center. To me, the bigger, the better, but I know how anime is all you kids do these days so this event would be worth the 35 bucks you have to fork out to get inside and wander around hoping to see a hot chick, that aint really hot, dressed up in some anime fashion that you recognise. Cake alone isn’t even worth it. And I know for a fact that this cake is a lie. If anybody that goes sees any, take a pic and post it here. I won’t believe it otherwise. On that note, if there is any way for us to get inside for free, then you can PM me the details.

Yeah, I was just being facetious with those remarks, just in case there were any doubts. I’m a grown man who plays video games in public, I can’t have THAT much shame. :bgrin:

As for the $35 for no pot thing, don’t worry. My brother and I aren’t idiots, we plan to do other stuff that day to make it worth the money (or at least dig up enough cheap out-of-print hyper-obscure crap in the dealers’ room to justify the entry fee). We’re huge anime nerds anyway (just not exactly the cat-ears-and-pink-hair kinda nerds), we’ll almost certainly find something to make it worth our while. Besides, it’s $35 for once a year, I’m pretty sure I can find SOME offset to that expense before 365 days have passed.

Also, the cake’s not necessarily a lie. One evil computer can’t possibly ruin thousands of years of human innovation and perseverance in the noble pursuit of filling the world’s mouth with moist, sugary joy.

There really is no tourney to crash, I felt cheap walking into their game room. They didn’t even have super on anything, and all the XBoxs are locked in cases behind the tables so you can forget casuals all day. I already have a ticket I paid for gladly cause I go to AFO for other stuff. But if you guys wanna try and sneak into their small lil gameroom where they have 2 staff people watching the door for badges, then by all means go right ahead.

i’ll be coming thru since i’m chillen by your area. post address ??

who’s hosting today? I’m bored as shit and I need a break from CG. fuck I’m burnt, how do you throw in 4 again? 3S ANYONE?! c’mon scrubs!

Talk to Torrin. That guy should give workshops on how to make throwing 88% or more of your damage output.

/endsalt

AFO wasn’t too bad. Tourney was as much of a joke as I expected, but my brother and I found some acceptably rare crap in the bargain bins and were it not for John Martin, we would have walked away from BlazBlue with a $35 TE. (John finally put a stop to our shenanigans in top 4, which were, in order, John (Ragna), my brother (Bang), myself (Tager) and the dude from Daytona (?) who played a respectable Taokaka and damn near fucked me up with those damn crossup combos.) All in all, I’ve done far more offensive things with $35 than AFO. (I bought KOF 12. Brand new. Hard to top that one.)

GGs to all who participated, especially John and Jose who finally made me do some real work instead of massacring oblivious con kids. (I only regret that I didn’t figure out who John was cosplaying until we passed him on the way out. It was the gloves that finally tipped me off.)
