fuuuu i wish i could go to seasons beatings this year, unfortunately i have to go home for a freaking wedding the week after >_<
Thanks flame and others Ima check out the tuts again and see…
Anywys were there alot of Tampa players at the tourney? I know a few ppl I talked to were from like Melbourne n shit…also that black dude that kept ranting and raving about how some dude went to evo while he was losing his own match was pretty funny…
His Sagat if formidable as well; he telegraphs his uppercuts with his audible mashing though. We had a very close set.
The Battle for I-4 is strictly Tampa vs Orlando? Next event I’ll be sure to bring along F. Battle see if we can steal the I-4 trophy for Deltona. lol
Hooters? Yeah, Tampa took 5 of the top 8.
Depending on what’s going on day of, you know I’m down to roll out with you and Battle, Eric. Let’s show these city folk what a town with, what, four? Street Fighter players is capable of LOL.
Aw man! Remember their names? I wasnt there, and I didnt think the 1 or 2 other guys from here went either…
on a side note: I just recently started playing 3s again (well, technically first time Ive played it after I know how to play a street fighter game)… and as of last night had someone explain to me what GGPO is… any of you guys use that shit?
BTW, I love Hugo… too bad he is ass…
so SNK done fucked up KoF13. That was fast…
that game out yet?
i think it was released in the arcades a couple weeks ago, but there are already infinites. Well I WAS excited to play it lol…
Thanks for hosting yesterday senkei, those casuals were what I needed to get the rust off the roboky (rust… roboky… I make terrible jokes and should get punched for that) Those were some epic matches we had, including the fact that I got hit by every single bomb at the end for reasons we both weren’t quite sure of.
@Ian re: KOF XIII:
The infinites aren’t too bad, I think, and they’re not really what’s worrisome about the game, or what made trouble for KOF 12 besides its general limp-dickedness. Same even goes for the various meterless cheats certain characters have (Takuma, Daimon), although hopefully THOSE will be gone for the console release.
What’s more worrisome is stuff like the various freeze bugs (Vice hit you with a move and then another move, GAME FREEZE) and Hwa Jai’s Marvel-esque “watch me fly the fuck off the screen” bug, which AFAIK are almost as easy to trigger as some of the REALLY dumb bugs in 12 (Raiden vs. Elizabeth handcuffs glitch: Land a super throw on Liz. That’s it. Bitch is stuck to you for the rest of the round, unable to retaliate.)
Infinites aren’t really the problem with most KOFs, as they’re generally pretty damn hard to execute (KOF XI Vanessa had a relatively easy infinite but it couldn’t propel her to the top tier…I forget whether or not Oswald had an infinite but his unblockable was more practical and dangerous in any case…2k2 Angel had an infinite and she was like upper-mid at best…I’m sure 2k2 UM has a couple but that game still gets play). As long as the freeze bugs get beaten out for the domestic release, I think the game will be fine.
A promo for TE sticks and such.
So Jebailey can tech some throws next time around :-p
Ben, that sounds bad…
I really hope the console release gets a gathering, I have been desperately trying to extend my fighter experience beyond SSF4
I’m coming up to Orlando for graduation. Anyone hosting this Sunday? I might stop by.
Apache Warrior will be top tier, I’m calling it.
Depends. What’s the frame data on scalping?
DISCLAIMER: I don’t know shit about the Apache, and being white, I will now shut my goddamned mouth.
I don’t think the game is ruined, but this isn’t a good look for it. KOF is no stranger to these kinds of glitches, but in terms of XII/XIII it’s kind of unprecedented how easy many of these are to trigger.
Hopefully SNK will throw some actual time and money behind fixing these for the console version, because beneath all these glitches, you have a MUCH more fun and interesting game than XII. (Glitches aren’t what killed interest in XII – the game being a boring, stripped-down version of older KOFs with poor netplay capacity to expand the sparse competitive community is what killed XII. The glitches were just the nail in the coffin.)
As for other games, we play a lot of older games during casual gatherings, but of course you can’t usually make it out to those. Your best bet is probably to download a bunch of ROMs and hit up GGPO to learn games like 3S, ST, Vampire Savior, KOF '98 and the like. There are a number of non-SRK wikis out there on the Internet to help learn dead or obscure games like you can find on GGPO.
Having a modded PS2 slim is also a good gateway to learn other games; the mod my brother did is safe and simple and once you’ve done that, the wonderful world of Internet ISOs lies open before you.
Other than that, you should probably learn BlazBlue CS, as that’s probably the only non-SSF4 game Orlando will be playing at tourneys (unless it’s like a Winterfest-level event) until Marvel 3 hits.
yeah im gonna get the GGPO up tonight with 3rd strike and others… pretty freaking pumped about that… i dont know how it works really, but if any of you guys use it, we should get some games in (granted theres a friends list or direct join or whatever)
my ps2 “chop top” mod > all other ps2 mods.
